How long does this "not Covid virus " last?

MyrealnameisBernard · 05/10/2021 22:03

I started last Wednesday with sore throat, got worse and started coughing Saturday. Got Covid test Monday which was negative but I'm breathless and wheezing and fed up. My head hurts and I'm knackered. Maybe I've just forgotten how being ill feels. Im feeling grumpy as chuff. Should I have a whisky?

Yes to the whisky. I’d do another PCR if I was you as that’s exactly how my covid started.

In4mation · 05/10/2021 22:13

Lots of stories about false negative pcrs at the moment.

MyrealnameisBernard · 05/10/2021 22:16

Really? We've friends just texted + and my teen was with a positive case all Sunday afternoon so it's rife round here but I thought PCR was pretty reliable. I've not had the loss of taste thing or temp but hearing so many stories of differing symptoms now.

For me about 5 days but the cough still ongoing - for DH so far a week and still not feeling great

SpamIAm · 05/10/2021 22:19

Oh I had this bloody awful cold that's doing the rounds. Still coughing 2.5 weeks later and I feel like my right sinus is trying to kill me. Think I stopped feeling really rough after about a week though.

VanGoghsDog · 05/10/2021 22:20

Nine days.

1000yardstare · 05/10/2021 22:22

I'm 13 days in. It's like the worst all you can eat buffet. Sore throat? Fix that with a cough sir? Headache, here have some Snot. Cough yourself into a hernia... be our guestConfused

In4mation · 05/10/2021 22:24

There have been at least two threads today discussing the false negative pcrs

Ilikecheeseontoast · 05/10/2021 22:24

My children were all ill for 7-10 days with it. Much sicker than when they had actual covid. It’s awful!

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/10/2021 22:25

One of my relatives is 6 weeks in. Chest x-ray came back clear. COVID tests negative, now going for bloods.

sociallydistained · 05/10/2021 22:28

Seem to have this myself I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and felt that radiant glow that some speak of, couldn’t believe my luck!… then as of Sunday this 😒

I never normally catch stuff I think it’s been a few years but I guess immune system wasn’t what it was pre Covid!

MyrealnameisBernard · 05/10/2021 22:29

I've not been out much but clearly enough to catch something. I've not read a lot today on here but will check it out thanks @In4mation
I hope everyone is soon well and 6 weeks poorly person especially.

10 days in, the cough is still hanging about but I'm just starting to feel a bit more normal. That said, I did a full day at work today and yesterday and I'm so, so tired today.

Definitely not Covid, we've all tested and were clear. DS had it too and it feels very like the normal back to school bug we quite often get. DS bounced back though and was fine by day 2.

Tibtab · 05/10/2021 22:34

About a month so far, I’m 35 weeks pregnant and just can’t shift it. I’ve never had a sore throat last this long before.

REDHERO · 05/10/2021 22:36

Snap day 12

I have taken LFT and 2 parts in that time and all negative. Gradually going but all the signs of covid but negative

Terminallysleepdeprived · 05/10/2021 22:37

I am a week in and getting worse.

Sinus pain that is absolutely killing me, it actually feels like my head is going to explode. Coughing and wheezing cos I can't breathe and it is triggering asthma. Pharmacists has advised unlikely to be covid as I lft 3 times a week as dd is cv but as the cough has gone from 9nce in a wake to constant I have a pcr booked for the morning.

I am 9o% certain it is a cold virus as am snotty as hell but I have also coughed so hard I have wet myself tonight and now have a horrid pain under my collar bone so it is possible I have coughed a hole in my lung (not for the first time thank you whooping cough)

I am never off work but had to come home today and have text my boss as I can barely speak to say I won't be in tomorrow either

GigantosaurusRex · 05/10/2021 22:43

I'm currently off with the same thing. One week in now.

Drinkyourweaklemondrink · 05/10/2021 22:43

7 days and it's slowly starting to clear up. I'm asthmatic so it hit my lungs big time. If I now get covid with my lungs in this state...I'm buggered

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 05/10/2021 23:11

I've got it at the moment and I feel bloody shocking. Started yesterday morning feeling like I'd gotten a hair or a bit of Cat fur caught in the back of my throat. Then later on in the day it felt like someone had poured acid down my throat cos it was burning like mad. My chest felt tight but was also rattling and by the time I'd finished work last night I was in agony with my head. Threw up twice last night and woke up this morning with aching legs a slight fever, really tight chest and wheezy, blocked sinuses and a really bad chesty cough. Both LFT's are negative but I'll do a PCR one in the morning because I cannot taste anything at all now. It's weird because aside the sinuses I feel just like I did when I had my first Covid jab

MyrealnameisBernard · 05/10/2021 23:17

Crikey. A lot of poorly people. I send you all get well flowers 💐 And all the whisky and cough medicine. No mixing mind you

Jeremyspoke · 05/10/2021 23:23

I'm 2 weeks from first symptoms and finally pretty much snot-free and feeling close on back to normal. Still coughing a bit and it sounds nasty when I do, caught it from DGS and it's gone round the whole family, everyone's had PCR and all negative.

TimeToChangePassword · 05/10/2021 23:24

We had Covid recently - positive PCR. But our son had a really bad cold - never tested positive on LFT or two PCR. It was weird, you’d think a family in the same house would get the same virus at the same time.
All recovered now.

Hope people feel better soon

Jeremyspoke · 05/10/2021 23:27

Oh and make hot toddy's with your whiskey, add a spoon of sugar, a thick slice of lemon with half a dozen cloves pushed into the flesh and top the whole thing up with hot water. Tastes lush, clears everything (if only temporarily!) and knocks you out so you can sleep, win win Smile

BanditoShipman · 05/10/2021 23:32

About 10 days in here. Started with headache and sore throat then about 4 days in hit hard! Snotty, exhausted, coughing, shivering etc. Negative LFTs and PCRs. Dd1 was fine after 4 days, dd2 still has it 10 days in, I’ve had last 3 days off work which is really unusual for me.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 05/10/2021 23:36

I'm only 3 days in and feel awful. Had covid a couple of months ago and this is worse
