How long does this "not Covid virus " last?

I started last Wednesday with sore throat, got worse and started coughing Saturday. Got Covid test Monday which was negative but I'm breathless and wheezing and fed up. My head hurts and I'm knackered. Maybe I've just forgotten how being ill feels. Im feeling grumpy as chuff. Should I have a whisky?

I'm still coughing and found dog Walker a real struggle today. Holding myself to cough. A tiny bit of wee came out too. The shame. I have no snot though. At all. Just aches and pains and sore throat. Oh and palpitations. The heart rumble. I hate it

I'm on night 3 & feel awful, I'm sneezing, runny nose, coughing, headache, my face aches. I stocked up on Night Nurse, Vicks, Strepsils, Beconase & paracetamol for during the day. Trying to stay out of my mum's way, she is 83 & has COPD, have only been downstairs to throw down some soup & then back in bed. Has anyone else noticed that they are weeing more than normal? I've been four times since teatime, I seem to be going a lot more than normal.

Luckily I only had a sore throat, which started Thursday, it was like I had razors in there.... Sunday morning I woke up, sore throat gone, still has swollen glands which went by Monday... no other symptoms....
DS had a runny nose for 2 days and then he was fine... poor dd has been hit harder... she’s had both the nose and throat... she’s at the tail end now, keeps losing her voice mind, which is heaven for me and she non stop talks..

Am awake as can’t sleep with this annoying cold! Head feels like it’s about to explode and I need the loo all the time, as others have said. This thread has cheered me up however so thank you OP; tomorrow I will try JeremySppke’s recipe for a hot toddy and hope that helps. Hope you all feel better soon.

Other viruses still available so it seems!

Yes to the weeing more than usual. This is a very nasty cold verging on virus I think.

Update - negative Lateral flow test done. Off work today and tomorrow. Feel like shit warmed up. Feel very breathless but then have got mild asthma too so using inhaler. Got a hair colour consultation on Saturday so hope I feel bloody better by then.

If I can just share a bit of hope… possibly!

I had this starting on Saturday night/Sunday morning and by Tuesday felt like absolute shit. Sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, no energy. Took yesterday off work as it seemed to hit peak. I napped a lot during the day and still managed to sleep last night. I felt a bit better yesterday evening so was hopeful and today my sore throat is non existent and dare is say my nose too? I feel a bit tired still but am going to work (starting very late so will see how I go when actually up and out). But it’s so bizarre as I was set up for a long time of this!

Hopefully others symptoms will disappear as fast 😩

I contacted my GP surgery today as my sore throat and cough are still there. Used my inhaler loads and hurts to cough. Went for a short walk and came back breathless, thought I was going to pass out. Need to pick up antibiotics in a bit, hoping my inhaler prescription will be ready too.

I'm in my third week. It has been horrendous - sinusitis, fever, shivers, coughing, blocked nose, aches and pains. Just a tickly cough and sneezing now.

Be glad to see the back of it now.

4 weeks in here. Still have a phlegmy cough, really tired and getting breathless. 3 negative lateral flows and 2 negative pcr tests. I had 3 days of sore throat, 3/4 days of streaming cold and just the cough and tiredness lingering after that

Thanks for sharing I really hope mine disappears fast! Am necking juice, water etc. Shocked at how quickly it escalates but so pleased I’m now in a job where they pay you for sick leave as wasn’t before and I really have appreciated rest today.

My symptoms so far have been much the same as yours but not really tickly cough but sore throat.

Hope it abates soon.

Also hope that by getting this it boosts my immune system but then I’m due a flu jab soonish as I get mild asthma anyway!

I've been hammering the i inhalers today but don't feel as weary. Maybe I'm turning a corner as the chest has loosened so the cough is less dry now

Came on to see if there was a thread like this one! My sinuses and teeth and throat are aching like hell, mostly on the right side but it does move across to the left at times. Painkillers not touching it, bastard! Funnily enough, before all the pain kicked off I had a few days of weeing much more often than usual and feeling very low mood. Cough not particularly bad, nose not running much, but the head, face, teeth and throat pain is grim. Sore eyes too. Someone make it stop! Can't even concentrate on TV or reading Hmm

Miserable. Hope you're all feeling some improvement. Like a PP I don't drink so the hot toddy isn't an option, but I so wish it was!

We were rough for about a week, the cough lingered for a good 4+ weeks I'm afraid! And definitely not covid. At least 6 of us friends had it and not one of us had a single PCR or LFT. All tested multiple times throughout and at different locations so different batches etc.

Oh god me too. My colleagues were laughing at me (in good humour) as every time I had a coughing fit I was crouching on the floor. Hard to maintain your status as a manager when you're trying not to wee yourself every 15 minutes Grin

Both children have it here. Dc1 is hopefully coming out the other side, still low grade fever, cough, off food and so lethargic. But, today he finally has thick yellow snot, endless thick snot and his cough has changed from a dry constant to more wet less frequent one. He's finally started to play again and interact. He's on day 8. Dc2 has just started with the cough and high fever so I imagine we're about to go through it all again. Oh and at the beginning we had a wonderful episode of sickness and diarrhea that was more explosive than I've ever known. I've literally been wiping walls almost to the ceilings.

It's fucking awful whatever it is, several pcrs done for them both as they moved symptoms but all negative.

I'm praying us adults don't get it and that I'll get to sleep again soon.

I've found Night Nurse is my savior, one 20ml dose about midnight means I stop coughing & am able to get some sleep. The worst bit for me is when I first wake up in a morning, all the gunge from my cold has set like a rock I'm the top of my chest & throat, it takes an hour of coughing to shift it.

It's crap isn't it. I've been dosing myself on Vit C. It's at the green snot phase now. 2 weeks went like this - sore throat and feels sickly / nauseous- chesty cough - coughing up gunk now and blowing my nose to green snot. Also am knackered... and sick of weeing in my knickers ffs..

I’m traveling abroad tomorrow, I’m a bit nervous this will turn into a chest or sinus infection 😩
