How long does this "not Covid virus " last?

I started last Wednesday with sore throat, got worse and started coughing Saturday. Got Covid test Monday which was negative but I'm breathless and wheezing and fed up. My head hurts and I'm knackered. Maybe I've just forgotten how being ill feels. Im feeling grumpy as chuff. Should I have a whisky?

It's not helped by dodgy labs - one in the SE was telling people they were negative when they'd had a positive lft and were actually positive! Caught it on the radio this morning!

About a week for me. One very faint positive LFT rest negative and Negative PCR test although I'm not a hundred percent convinced I didn't have it because I couldn't taste sod all unless it had tons of salt or spice on it. I'll also hasten to add that I've never lost my sense of taste during any cold or flu virus I've had before. I've still got a slight cough and a little breathless but no where near as bad as I was

I’m loathe to say it… but I actually feel a bit better today. I’ll probably go downhill and feel terrible again by Sunday, but for today I feel ok. Fingers crossed! Hope everyone else is on the mend.

@Ohhelppp I'm scared to say but I've not coughed quite as much. That said I'm off to bed shortly as I'm so tired and now wondering (headache earlier) if I've caught it from DS1, although Googling suggests you can't get two things at once.

I think you can get two things at once. Maybe it depends what they are. I had flu and pneumonia at once, or flumonia as I called it!

I've had the cough tho it's chesty now no covid but my sons been coughing for 3 weeks like a dry cough not sure what to do no covid been testing for uni cough cough cough !

I'm still not right. Ribs are still so sore but I don't know why because I don't have a cough! Feeling so damn fed up now ☹️

No it won't.

Negative tests - despite cough, taste and temperature

I feel like shit

Came looking for a thread like this. I'm now on day 13, started off feeling slightly 'coldy' had my flu jab on day 2 (probably not the best idea...) and been feeling rough ever since. Snot, runny sore eyes, horrible cough. And absolutely knackered. To the core. As a pp said, it's worse in the morning with it all lying in my chest. The nights have been pretty bad with all the coughing. Have done regular LFTs and all negative. It's in the middle of having my kitchen and cloakroom renovated so I've not been able to rest, with all the painting and moving of furniture. Having read this I'm going to drink hot blackcurrant, buy some covonia and get a PCR test. I'm thinking it's so bad because not had a cold for a couple of years, plus I've not been able to rest. My chest is really sore, I had a pain on the left hand side last night which seems to have gone this morning. Really just want it to go now!!

This is my 4th week (covid was negative)

1st week was in bed for 3 days -
Like a severe cold
2nd week still
Sneezing and runny nose , cough
4th week still have a cough (improved) and congested with snot

Absolutely extraordinary cold !
No Smell (can taste) , and feel tired and unmotivated - a real pain !

I cant stand unsupported and I have a temp that cycles from high to low

I feel like shit- I am struggling to get enough fluids and food is a non starter

I just wanna feel better

Been following this but thought I would add my miserable update.

Week four, me, and two children under two. They have now started second course of antibiotics. I narrowly avoided hospital admission yesterday. Cough has gone into chest infection, pleurisy and dislocated ribs. @KatyMac I had no temperature control. Sunday was down at 33 then over 40.

All covid tests negative.

I have to get up today (I didn't yesterday) as I have Commissions to finish - let's hope I don't sew anything I shouldn't!

Got a slightly chesty cough but nothing serious, still having trouble sleeping, just don't feel right but don't feel that ill either?

Oh goodness I’m so sorry to hear your updates @stripetop and @KatyMac - although I was going to say it did sound like Covid when you mentioned being unable to drink or eat. That’s what almost got me hospitalised when I had it at Christmas, so make sure you’re getting the fluids in any which way you can
I’m on day 3 of feeling normal, after another day of feeling shit with completely different symptoms again. This time it was snotty, nose streaming and losing my voice. Miraculously better again Sunday and this is now the longest period of feeling well so far. Fingers crossed.

Still feeling tired and depressed with this, and my mouth has been very sore on and off. No bleeding from my gums, but they feel inflamed and my teeth hurt too (especially the bottom ones). Had a check up a couple of weeks ago so I know there's nothing 'dental' going on. At times my glands and throat feel very achey, the rib pain is still there along with pain under my right shoulder blade. Also got these painless red spots across my shoulders that won't go away, really odd - look like they've got a head but not squeezable (sorry, TMI I know). Headaches a lot better but the pain seems to have migrated to mouth and face. Little flurries of sneezing occasionally and the cough is still there but cones and goes. So weird. I look dead behind the eyes with a permanent bitch face

I'm pretty poorly still - getting dehydrated and my sats are 92%

She is convinced I had a bug/cold and then I got covid

Day 5 here. Really suffering, constant cough (I'm also asthmatic) No sense of taste or smell, high temperatures on and off. I've had to take a day off sick today. Oh and constant sneezing and blocked nose, sinus pain, headache, this is grim. 3 negative LFTs

I can't believe people are still replying on lateral flow tests when they have symptoms. It won't show up. You need to do a PCR. With those symptoms it sounds like it will be positive

Day 23 here. Been awake for the last two hours as I can’t stop coughing. On ABs as GP thinks it’s turned into a chest infection now. PCRs have all been negative as have the regular LFTs. So fed up.
