I weigh just under 11.5 stone and I’m about 5 ft 6. I do HIT almost daily. I hardly sit down - very active. I don’t calorie count but I don’t overeat and really rarely have stuff like biscuits. I’ve got naturally terrible legs abs work hard to keep fit . Why oh why can I
Not get below 70!Kg? Anyone else weigh this much with similar lifestyle?

What age are you?

goose1964 · 25/01/2021 21:35

Muscle mass as muscle is denser than fat you weigh more then someone the same size but who doesn't have toned muscles.

Imgonnadance · 25/01/2021 21:36

I wish I weighed just under 11.5 stone and I'm 5ft 3. I'm 13 stone. I think you must be eating more calories than you're burning off. Try tracking it or follow a calorie controlled diet for a couple of weeks and see if you lose?

newname2021 · 25/01/2021 21:36

It depends a lot on how muscly you are and your body frame. Measurements would be helpful to know whether your heaviness equates to unhealthiness. What is your waist circumference?

Ifailed · 25/01/2021 21:37

you eat/drink too much. It's very simple.

Janaih · 25/01/2021 21:37

I also weigh the same and same height and do hiit every day but I'm very happy with how I look, I'm a 12-14 with great muscle tone.

Do you drink alcohol? If you want to get under 70kg you need to be counting calories i would say.

Souvlaki · 25/01/2021 21:38

I’m mid 40s- I’ve had two kids. I don’t think I could eat less as I’m always on the go and life is exhausting. I’m a size 10-12 but I don’t think I look good . I just don’t get what I’m doing wrong.

I’m exactly the same since having my daughter.
I have fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch and a home cooked tea. I don’t snack as I work all day and we aren’t allowed to eat.
Thursdays and Fridays I don’t get lunch as I have two jobs which crossover. I don’t think I binge on anything. I’m usually home from work at 7 and in bed by 9.

I don’t drink alcohol, I walk the dog daily, walk to and from work and around work all day. I do yoga nightly and was doing HIIT with a personal trainer and lost nothing after 6 weeks. It was a running joke. I was at the gym with the trainer 3x a week. It’s definitely not muscle I just can’t seem to shift it!

Dixiechickonhols · 25/01/2021 21:39

To many calories - portion size, eating higher calorie food - nuts/avocado etc are very easy to use lots of calories on without realising. Are you drinking calories - smoothies or alcohol or fancy coffees. Maybe track everything you eat and drink for a month to see.

Darbs76 · 25/01/2021 21:40

Worth logging your calories as it’s easy to think you don’t overeat but you might be. Check your TDEE (TDEE calculator) and then deduct 500 calorie a day to lose 1lb a week. I’ve lost 24lbs doing just that, plus exercise. If you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight so the reason you’re not is because you’re not in a calorie deficit

LunaHeather · 25/01/2021 21:40

Op "I’m a size 10-12 but I don’t think I look good "

As soon as I saw your post, I thought, is that even overweight?

As a short arse, I don't know.

Indecisive12 · 25/01/2021 21:40

For most of my overweight friends it’s alcohol then food that makes them overweight.

Souvlaki · 25/01/2021 21:41

Yes I drink but I was a similar weight even when I never drank. The only time I’ve been happy with my body was when I was working out excessively and underrating. I don’t seem to be able to eat abs exercise reasonably and remain so slim. I’d like to be 64 kg- a loss of about 10 kg.

I’m the same height and weight and apart from having more drink than I should, I’m the same. It’s calories in somehow or other.

Indecisive12 · 25/01/2021 21:41

Just seen your a size 10-12. YABU

newname2021 · 25/01/2021 21:42

If you're a size 10-12 in your mid 40s after having 2 kids then you're doing great and I'm sure you look better than you give yourself credit for.

Easier said than done but maybe try to spend some time valuing yourself and your achievements rather than thinking about a number on the scales Thanks

AbsentmindedWoman · 25/01/2021 21:42

Any themes of insulin resistance/ type 2 diabetes in your family? Do you hanker for carbs?

Changi · 25/01/2021 21:42

I'm the same height an have very toned muscles. I'm active and lift heavy weights (or did when the gym was open).

Small frame. I'm over three stone lighter.

roses2 · 25/01/2021 21:44

Can you post what you eat including portion size or photo your dinner plate on an average day?

LunaHeather · 25/01/2021 21:44

I just looked it up

You are not "heavy".

I would be able to eat about 500 cals a day to look how I want to, it's just life.

Souvlaki · 25/01/2021 21:44

I don’t know my waist circumference. I’m a large size 10. Would a fit bit help? Do you use that to log calories?

OP posts:
edwinbear · 25/01/2021 21:45

I’m the same height and dropped from 11st 7 to 9st 7 since Summer, I’m also mid 40’s. I was doing 2-3 gym classes a day, 5 days a week, a combination of spin and body pump.

I only started losing weight when I started strictly monitoring and recording calories in vs calories out. I ensure a minimum of a 700 calorie deficit each day, which for me, means no more than 1200 calories a day. You’re probably eating a calorie level that maintainS your weight, rather than losing. The only way to actually lose weight, is a period of daily deficit.

DillyDilly · 25/01/2021 21:45

Maybe log your food on myfitnesspal for a while to see keep track of what and now much you eat. A few small changes could well see your weight drop - maybe give up bread, cut down on processed foods, reduce sugar intake. If you reduce your alcohol intake, you will drop weight too.

ComtesseDeSpair · 25/01/2021 21:47

When you say heavy, are you toned or wobbly? Muscle is dense so if you do a lot of exercise you’ll not necessarily lose weight very quickly but you’ll notice yourself looking less chubby.

If you can’t get rid of the wobble then it’s often portion sizes. Try a month of weighing things out and eating the recommended portion sizes. Fill up at least half your plate with vegetables. I remember a colleague saying she couldn’t understand why she wasn’t losing weight because she only had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. Her cereal bowl must have held four or five of the recommend portion sizes and her sandwiches were two great doorsteps of bakery bread filled with about half a block of cheese!

Souvlaki · 25/01/2021 21:48
