I weigh just under 11.5 stone and I’m about 5 ft 6. I do HIT almost daily. I hardly sit down - very active. I don’t calorie count but I don’t overeat and really rarely have stuff like biscuits. I’ve got naturally terrible legs abs work hard to keep fit . Why oh why can I
Not get below 70!Kg? Anyone else weigh this much with similar lifestyle?

What do you actually eat though?

I bet if you tell us that, we'll tell you why you're the weight you are...

Sadly I agree that if you're not losing weight you are probably not being totally honest with yourself about what you eat. I know in any normal day I might have any/all of the following and if you ask me what I'd had I'd probably forget to include it: Kids leftovers Milk in teas and coffee Biscuit before bed Piece of the cheese I was grating during cooking Multiple taste tests during cooking Larger portions than I think I have The odd bar of chocolate when I fill up with fuel Takeaway coffee on my Sunday walk with a friend

It all adds up!

AprilThe8th · 27/01/2021 08:04

Watch an old episode of Secret Eaters on YouTube it really opens your eyes to what you think you eat and what you actually eat

Porridgeoat · 27/01/2021 08:08

What hit do you do

What do you eat on a normal day

Porridgeoat · 27/01/2021 08:08

How much do you walk daily?

Dozer · 27/01/2021 08:11

If you weigh portions and calorie count, properly, you’ll probably find you’re eating way more calories than you think.

Weight loss is mainly down to food.

‘You can’t outrun your fork’, basically.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/01/2021 08:13

I am so heavy op I hate weighing myself. I've always been heavy , I think I must be muscly. I'm small in size , people my size weigh 2 stone less than me ! Maybe its heavy bones ? Dont sweat the small stuff

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 27/01/2021 08:22

If you are confident you have a good diet and you are exercising then the next thing to do is cut out alcohol, juices, and fizzy drinks. Look at your water consumption and your sleep pattern and increase the amount of both.
In terms of cellulite, add a couple of tablespoons of ground flax seed to your cereal or other meal, in my experience after 2 weeks it completely gets rid of the appearance of cellulite, leaving smooth looking thighs. You have to keep up with it though otherwise you get the cellulite look back. - It may not work for you but for the price of a couple of quid it's worth trying, I always use it in the summertime and it's always worked.

Fressia123 · 27/01/2021 10:53

For the people who say you can't "outrun your fork/diet" it is POSSIBLE but it's really, really hard. Running 20mi a week will burn around 2000 calories. As long as you don't eat them back, you would have burn them. Over a month that would be 8k calories which in average would be a kilo / 2lbs. That's at least 4 hours of high intensity cardio and would assume that you're not increasing your calorie intake.

Reducing your calorie intake is easier than running it out. If you have a pastry every day with your coffee that would have the same effect.

When I'm marathon training it doesn't matter how much I eat I lose weight, but I'd be running at the very least 60mi per week.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 27/01/2021 11:59

OK, you ask why you are 'heavy', not 'fat'.

Do you have any areas of fat you want to lose?

Weight and size and fatness are very different things.

At 5'6" and a size 10 you are not fat.

Being toned and muscly is good, and makes you heavier than a person who is the same size but has a higher % of fat than muscle.

Try fake tan (the Garnier Summer Body one is good) on your legs to improve the look of your knees.

You could try calf toning exercises to give more definition to your calves to take away from the 'cankle' look. www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/strengthening-calf-muscles#1 I do calf raises while photocopying, or waiting for the microwave, or at the bus stop.

Run1000km2021 · 27/01/2021 13:52

@RainingBatsAndFrogs and others who keep mentioning size 10: with vanity sizing being so ridiculous size is just irrelevant!

At 5”6 and 11.5 stone you’re definitely a bit fat (and I would be noticeably fat, as I have been in the past!), unless you’re a body builder there is no other way.

missfliss · 27/01/2021 14:15

some of the comments here are pretty outdated i think - I don't know how old the OP is but BMI ceases to be a useful gauge as you get older.

Measurements and body fat % are a much better indicator of health and composition.

If you must use a BMI then I use the age-adjusted smart BMI calculator: www.smartbmicalculator.com/

tatutata · 27/01/2021 14:22

I don't want to be mean, but those posters telling you you're not overweight are incorrect according to the NHS BMI calculator. I am a bit unsure how you're a size 10-12 though , I am your height, and am a 10-12 at 63 kgs (10ish stone).

Fressia123 · 27/01/2021 14:25

She most certainly be a size 10 at her weight. I'm a size 8-10 at 11st, and I'm shorter!

LOL - I am 4lbs lighter than the OP, the same height, a size 12 and not fat. I was fat this time last year but now no one would say I was fat. I have a big frame (wide shoulders, wide rib cage), and am of 'muscular' build rather than slender. You can see my ribs, see the muscles under the skin on my arms, thighs and calves.

I agree that in some brands vanity sizing is an issue...and a size 14 can mean quite fat...but a size 10 on someone 5'6"?

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 27/01/2021 14:30

Actually, I am more than 4lbs lighter than the OP - I was looking at the 70Kgs rather than 11.5 stone. The OP is in the 'overweight' band on the NHS BMI calculator.

OP - you need to tell us your exact height and weight.

TinyTinaTriesAgain · 27/01/2021 14:39

Dress sizes are meaningless.

Some size 10s have a 30 inch waist.

Years ago, a size 10 was a 24 inch waist.

A size 10 before the 1980s was

Bust 34, waist 24, hips 34- 36.

Measure your waist, OP.

NHS guidance is no more than half your height.

Your height is 5 ft= 60 inches + 6= 66 inches.
Waist should be under 33 inches.

If you have a small waist but big thighs and bum that's not too unhealthy. If you are apple shaped that's unhealthy.

I'm puzzled too - I'm 5'8 and 59kg, a lot of muscle because of running 70 miles a week, not skinny by any means and a size 10 generally.
Dress sizes can vary enormously. Agree that waist height is the most important ratio to be healthy.

Fressia123 · 27/01/2021 15:20

@Jemenfouscompletement it's possible! That was me doing more miles than you and only 2lbs lighter. I was a size 4-6 then

Why am I so heavy?
whatever1980 · 27/01/2021 15:38

I'm similar to you 5ft 7 and 11 stone. Run 5km at least 5 days a week but have recently put on a pound. Exercise doesn't help me lose weight only tone up.

I lost half a stone last year sticking to 23 ww points a day and tbh I was working everyday and wasn't hard.

Fruit salad for breakfast or overnight oats.
Chicken salad for lunch with lighter than light Mayo.
Rich tea fingers for snack
Stir fry for dinner with bare naked noodles and soy.

For me it's diet.

I record what I eat everyday on my app.

There are days when I may have some toast and biscuits but I don't class it as overeating but I'm 15 points over my ww allowance and I don't lose weight or i put on. I'm just cheating myself by thinking it's only two rich tea or a roast potato - adds up. I don't advocate eating veg all day everyday with no treats but I'm kidding myself if I think I'm going to lose weight

I watched some old episodes recently and it was really helpful for me to see how easily we can misjudge how much we eat.
campista · 27/01/2021 18:02

A lot of it is down to build - a smaller frame, though similar height would make some one weigh a fair bit less, surely?

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 27/01/2021 18:19

Size of breasts must make a difference to weight, too.

Big difference between an A cup and a D, even if the rest of you is b slim.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 28/01/2021 13:11

I'd bloody love to know what the actual difference is!
