Souvlaki · 25/01/2021 21:32

I weigh just under 11.5 stone and I’m about 5 ft 6. I do HIT almost daily. I hardly sit down - very active. I don’t calorie count but I don’t overeat and really rarely have stuff like biscuits. I’ve got naturally terrible legs abs work hard to keep fit . Why oh why can I
Not get below 70!Kg? Anyone else weigh this much with similar lifestyle?

TardisThroughTime · 26/01/2021 13:26

Just downloaded the nutri check app to start my calorie counting journey. Who knew salad cream had so many Grin

Foobydoo · 26/01/2021 13:32

@Ifailed

you eat/drink too much. It's very simple.
It really isn't that simple. What is your body shape o.p Look up lipedema, it is quite common in women.
Souvlaki · 26/01/2021 20:05

By terrible legs I mean knees that look like round Danish pastries with small knee caps ( I’d love those sharp knee caps) , natural cankles descending into flat wide feet. Cellulite I haven’t been able to shift since my early teens despite running , spinning etc in the past. My upper body tones quickly - my Lower body seems not to respond!

Souvlaki · 26/01/2021 20:07

Yes Foobydoo lipedema is something I’ve considered I might have but when I looked at pictures of it, my case if I had it would be very mild.

It is not about how much you eat but what you eat and how has the food you eat been prepared.
What do you eat in a typical day, and it is fresh or processed?

Run1000km2021 · 26/01/2021 21:31

This thread is really puzzling! Why are people telling the OP she is not heavy?! She is in the overweight range and indicated she would like to lose some weight.

For references I’m a few inches taller and 20kg lighter. This puts me in the bottom of the BMI range, I’ve also weighed substantially more before (up to 65kg) but was starting to feel very unfit and at 73kg I would most definitely not look it feel healthy.

Op it’s great that you have such an active lifestyle!!! This will benefit you enormously. However weight is lost in the kitchen not the gym. You are consuming too many calories, it is so easy to underestimate what you consume! Log everything meticulously for a while, it will be eye opening.

Good luck!

partyatthepalace · 26/01/2021 21:54

If you are 5ft 6 and a 10-12 you are not overweight, and presumably you are quite toned from exercise and you must have quite a lot of muscle.

When you say you don’t look good, what do you mean - what is bothering you?

Cormoran · 26/01/2021 22:07

@partyatthepalace I have a BMI of 20. If my BMI's was the OP's (25.98) I would have to be 20 kilos heavier than what I am now and I would feel very overweight since I have been my weight since I was 18 (with the obvious exceptions of pregnancies) and I am well in my 50s.

@Souvlaki exercise is great for health and stamina, but has very little to do with weightloss. As @Run1000km2021 rightly said, weight is lost in the kitchen

whattodo2019 · 26/01/2021 22:11

What do you eat on an average day?

mummylondon16 · 26/01/2021 22:22

i’m a stone heavier than you,2 inches taller- my blood sugars are optimal, i don’t drink or smoke, i’m a qualified personal trainer, i drink 2 litres of water per day and my body fat and waist to hip ratio are in the healthy ranges, measure your vitals in other ways not just scales- look at photos, measure your waist, set goals and measure strength
i’m disgusted in some of the comments that say things like “ you must eat too much”. how about those commenters piss off and stop reinforcing sexist narratives that women must weigh the least possible weight to be acceptable!!
at 11stone i was a small size 10 i had a flat chest and i looked like a ruler!

mummylondon16 · 26/01/2021 22:25

PS one piece of advice that helped me was to track calories in and out- using my fitness pal and fitbit or similar. that will help you understand what you burn and consume and may give some perspective. but honestly size 10-12 is fine and any hang ups you have probably go deeper- step away from the scales and start measuring your fitness and health, please. good luck

@Cormoran

Happy for you, but I wasn’t asking you - I was asking the OP. A BMI of 25 is fine for many builds, especially if you are carrying muscle, so a bit more detail would be good to know before leaping to conclusions.

Cormoran · 26/01/2021 22:36

The OP says she doesn't like how she looks. She would prefer to be lighter and struggles to do so.
Telling her she is not overweight when you haven't seen her just based on a number doesn't matter. It is her body and how she feels about it.

Isn't she allowed to pursue the body she wants?

OrangeSamphire · 26/01/2021 22:37

I wonder if adding in some strength training like body pump and barre would mix things up for your metabolism and also help to shape the areas you are less pleased with?

Endoftethermum1 · 26/01/2021 22:38

I’m early 40’s 3 kids the same height and weigh 75kg. I am 5kg over with central weight gain from eating too much chocolate but can never get below 70kg with dieting. I think I’ve always been bigger skeleton- 36 back etc. I think you might find it easier to focus on measurements rather than weight for motivation? You sound healthy though- be kind to yourself and ignore the very unhelpful comments from people like ifailed🙄

HelloThereMeHearties · 26/01/2021 22:42

Tracking your food intake properly - weighing things, not just estimating - will show you what's happening. Also track what you drink!

Labobo · 26/01/2021 22:47

This is really important to recognise. If you have strong dense bones and strong dense muscles you will weigh far more at size ten than someone with similar measurements, thinning bones and untoned flesh. I know which I'd rather be.

Cormoran · 26/01/2021 23:14

There isn’t one size fits all. What works for one woman weight wise might not be the same for another.
One can be slim yet toned and with breast in harmony to that size

@cormoran

The OP can do what she wants, but this is a forum, so people tend to ask each other questions? to help figure stuff out? that’s kind of how forums work? So that’s why I was asking a few questions. They were, as previous, directed at the OP not you - your individual experiences are not related to the OPs.

BlueBeeryPie · 26/01/2021 23:27

I'm doing Dry January...First time properly in my life & I'm mid-50's. Usually I drink wine most if not every evening so I've pleasantly surprised myself at having stuck to it.

Ibs are dropping off, slowly but surely. I'm also being careful with what I eat and actually letting myself 'feel' hungry quite often.

I'm so happy with the weight loss and how I'm feeling I've decided to carry on not drinking until I get to my ideal weight of @ 9 stone 8lb (currently 10 stone 5lbs).

I'd definitely recommend it as it's working for me where all else has failed.

Good luck OP.

Cormoran · 26/01/2021 23:34

@partyatthepalace Our exchange isn’t helpful to the OP .
The OP came to ask why her weight isn’t moving not to ask if she was or wasn’t overweight.

People judging her weight or being dismissive of her wishes isn’t why she opened a discussion for.

Bobbi73 · 26/01/2021 23:43

Exercise is great but it won't help you lose weight. The only way to do it is by being in a calorie deficit. I have a fitbit and when I want to lose weight, I log everything I eat. Literally every mouthful and it's amazing how it adds up, particularly things like pasta, potatoes and fruit. It's worth doing it just for a week or two and you might see where the problem is.

@cormoran

No it isn’t. But I shouldn’t think it’s bothering her. The question is, why is it bothering you?

Cormoran · 27/01/2021 00:33

Did I hit a nerve?

hopsalong · 27/01/2021 00:52

Just let it go. You sound healthy. I'd like to have a cleavage and I'd like to have really thick curly long red hair instead of fine flyaway and now greying mouse brown hair. I'm 5'9'' and weigh about nine stone. so I am thin. But it's not all it's cracked up to be. I'm healthy. I don't feel great about my body (nor do I look great in a bikini).

Losing weight when you're unfit and overweight is one thing and obviously to be encouraged. But if you're not eating much, it's going to be extremely difficult to be lighter. Enjoy yourself.
