I have been in agony for 3 or 4 hours, pain started in lower stomach and now moved to behind belly button and slightly to the right. Have taken paracetamol which has slightly taken the edge off but still very painful, slightly loose stools but nothing too major, not been sick bit feel sick due to the intensity of the pain. Have been wondering around, trying to poop in hope it will help bit not easing.

I'm a single parent and my dc's are asleep, I have no one to call to sit with them as it's stupid o clock. I don't think it's a big as I haven't left the house in 3 days, could be something I ate. Dr Google is saying appendicitis and NHS direct online tell me to call an ambulance. Do I just ride it out until kids are up and off to school? I don't know what else I can do. Also stuck as I have a new dog/puppy who won't leave my side and has not yet been left alone.

Good to hear you got to hospital as it did sound like appendicitis Sad. Hope the op goes well and take time to rest up afterwards.
Can your mum stay over with you when u get home to help with the children? Even with endoscopic surgery you cant really bend over nor drive for a while afterwards and youll need to rest and recover.

Chartreuser · 01/07/2019 18:14

Blimey, that's a lot on your plate when you're so I'll. Hope the op went well and you're in recovery. And that the DCs aren't too freaked out with you not being there

Lillyrose19 · 01/07/2019 18:55

Charley50 · 01/07/2019 21:15

donajimena · 01/07/2019 21:28

I really hope Love is ok. I'm overtired and over emotional...

FaithInfinity · 01/07/2019 23:03

Assuming it’s her appendix and she went down for surgery some time this afternoon, she may not even be back on the ward yet and if she is she’ll probably be groggy from the anaesthetic and pain relief...I’m sure she’ll update when she’s up to it.

Thinking of you Love, hope all is well.

twirlypoo · 01/07/2019 23:16

Ahh I’m so glad you are in the right place and I hope you are soon feeling better. I’m a single parent too, and my mum would be similar to yours. I once waited for my friend to fly in from another country so I could leave my toddler Ds with them and goto hospital for what turned out to be eye ulcers. I literally couldn’t see or open my eyes and was in agony whilst trying to look after a 2 year old still in nappies. My mum lives next door and told me she was too busy to help...... I’m still bitter!

TransFannyUltrasound · 01/07/2019 23:21

I hope it’s all gone ok.

Yinyen · 01/07/2019 23:27

Haggisfish · 01/07/2019 23:28

Oh bloody hell. Hope it’s gobe well

notapizzaeater · 01/07/2019 23:32

I hope by your silence you are being seen too. My dads partner died from a burst appendix, some things you really can't mess with

CocoKoko123 · 01/07/2019 23:39

Hope you're ok love

thisiswhathappened · 01/07/2019 23:44

Hope you're ok and resting up xx

Lovemusic33 · 02/07/2019 10:05

Thank you every one, I'm still waiting for surgery, very busy at the hospital so it keeps getting delayed. I was prepped for surgery yesterday afternoon and I'm still waiting. They just keep shutting me up with pain killers.

@Lovemusic33 - hope you're okay and the surgery happens soon. Thinking of you! xx

Lovemusic33 · 02/07/2019 11:23

Got to wait for ultrasound now as they want to rule out a ruptured cyst on my ovary as I have a history of cysts. So surgery is on hold or might not happen.

Hope you are being sorted out. This must be incredibly stressful for you. Thinking of you.

midcenturylegs · 02/07/2019 13:40

@Lovemusic33 how can something not happen? There can't not be a reason for the pain? Is there someone there with you who can ask the right questions (not assuming you can't, just if you're in pain and scared it must be difficult).
There was a GP I think earlier who gave advice can s/he help again?

FaithInfinity · 02/07/2019 14:18

@misencenturylegs I’ve been admitted 3 times with similar symptoms, each time they said they thought it was my appendix, starved me for theatres but the scans I had looked normal (you can usually see an inflamed appendix on a scan) and I didn’t get worse so they didn’t operate. I ended up being discharged without answers in the end until I pushed my GP to do further tests and got a gynae referral who agreed to do a laparoscopy and found endometriosis (which doesn’t usually show up on scans).

The decision to wait until the scan result is difficult but it’s probably wise given your history of cysts because if it is a cyst, the emergency team would be better placed to operate than the emergency surgeons (who would investigate for an appendix).
