All welcome - for anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat, so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss, but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

Please note the second link actually works this week, there is no expense spared here

I am eating kiwis (2), pear, apple and raisins, which makes 4

I am wearing my new fab dress

I am hiding in the house pretending to be out when my inlaws come round

Psycho are you very imminent?

Start now, why not? You are excused the exercise bit until you are appropriately post-natal. Eating loads of fruit and veg will certainly help you immediately after the birth, and could even get things moving IMO

fillyjonk..........am interested in what she is doing, do you know?

NotQuiteCockney · 23/04/2007 08:11

I am getting ready to go do a shift. I appear to be slightly unwell (ok, I had tracheitis this weekend, and some hay fever, but I'm warm today), DS1 is still bursting into tears (this morning's best, so far? DS2 said he was taller than DS1. DS1 started crying. Copiously. WTF?), and DS2 is quite warm, and claiming to be 'freezing'.

Should be a fun shift.

I've had muesli. I'm debating taking an avocado with me to the co-op as a snack (meals are often high gi).

I need to fix my bike today. No idea what I'm eating, box comes today, and there's salad.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2007 08:12

OP posts:
sibble · 23/04/2007 08:16

lol franny

NQC we are also incubating something, despite OD'ing on Vit C woke this mornign as though somebody have scoured my eyes, throat, danced at 20stome on all my joints all night at DS2 was in a similar temperament, although he also was pumping green stuff otu of his nose aka a sacrey movie - am off to pump more vit c down in form of supplements and echinacea (plus red wine) sadly I find it helps

NotQuiteCockney · 23/04/2007 08:17

It should be fine, really. Our afternoon social thing got cancelled (well, moved to yesterday), so we will hang out with people this afternoon and/or go buy a school swimming costume for DS1.

Tonight I have a committee meeting. Tomorrow, I have:

  • morning off with DS1 (swimming? biking and running? shopping?)
  • pick up DS2
  • two hours blank
  • pick up Random Other Child at DS1's old school.
  • play in playground
  • drag them away from playground ASAP when ROC's mum is there
  • go home, sort tea
  • neighbour comes over and extra babysitter.
  • I go to the black tie do, possibly on a bike.
NotQuiteCockney · 23/04/2007 08:20

Woohoo! I'm going on a motorbike!

sibble · 23/04/2007 08:22

wow youa re so cool, where are you from NQC,I love your name

anorak · 23/04/2007 08:25

Right I am serious about doing this thing long term. I do it for a few days at a time then fall off the wagon.

My DH has been offered a 2 yr job in Bermuda!!! He is going to a meeting today to discuss details. Yesterday I went shopping and tried on some summery clothes, they were beautiful but I didn't buy because I look like a beached whale.

I have 3 months to sort myself out.

Sitting here with orange/strawberry/ banana smoothie in front of me.

Finished this season's work on Friday so tight deadlines no excuse for cheese toasties any more - I have time to make salads for lunch now.

Must dust off 'Fit For Life' and 'GI Diet' for inspiration.

sibble · 23/04/2007 08:27

GI diet, defiantely the way to go IMO, DH ahs jsut lost over 3 1/2 stone in 3 months doing a low GP diet

NotQuiteCockney · 23/04/2007 08:28

I am from Canada but live in East London. Right, must de-poo baby, shower, dress, and run off to co-op.

sibble · 23/04/2007 08:29

GI not GP of course, well DH is home so about to serve dinner, speak with you all tomorrow, have good days while I sleep

Cappuccino · 23/04/2007 09:20

oh my morning has not begun well

5am start and then a massive row with dh - we never row

will take solace in my porridge and in making a list of veg-packed items to buy on my weekly shop

cauliflower did not have any repercussions! once again stopping eating it was my mother's idea so what with this and the banana I have evidence enough to stop listening to a word she says

TooTicky the rocking horse is still there - I have a new digital camera to play with and learn how to use so if you would like me to take a picture of the horse for your memories when I'm next in town just say the word

I have fragmented family and half siblings so know where you're coming from there

ooh btw I am quite curious about the rhubarb, haven't eaten it in years

what do we do with it?

I got quite excited yesterday watching James Martin cook it on the telly but tbh I get quite excited about James Martin whether he's cooking rhubarb or not

Nice in the same meal, though, I reckon

Gkad to see everyone and you all sound fairly enthused so I won't need to blow my whistle

I am just off to greengrocers - despite frightening amounts fruit being delivered every Friday we still need more, apparently

and it is good dodge for inlaws

Oh I am veggie. Was vegan for a year or two, couldn't stick it I do like cheese. Also had weird B12 deficiency which no-one ever got to the bottom of. My blood count was fine other than the liver thing, am well-nourished
