For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

No-one will ever know the mental strength I had to use to avoid having the title as "Come and see Tatties' lovely ripe pear"

When is Aviatrix coming back? Isn't Lent over yet???

And did anyone else notice that Filly claimed she was going to buy a T Rex album and then was never seen again?? I fear for her, out there in the big bad world...

Hello there. Loving all the sucky twisty faces. Thats how I look when I try and walk
I am confronted with the scarey prospect of waste vegetables (the fruit is all gone). He did his best, and looking in the vegetable rack I was secretly impressed. Then I looked in the fridge and to my horror realised the full extent of the problem.
Big bag of purple Kale, 2 x lettuce. Sweaty mushrooms. Also about a kilo of carrots and two overipe Avacadoes.
I am going to have the Avacadoes for lunch with a dressing and maybe some lettucey bits on the side.
As for the Kale and rest of the lettuce, I feel the urge to wilt them down, but to what purpose I ask?

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 11:05

Stir fry the kale, carrots and mushrooms for dinner

chuck the lettuce or give to neighbours, I can't bear lettuce that has gone slimy

and sorry to hear it hurts so much

you know the one it looks like a tasty pear until; you bite into it and then bleeugh

sticky sluchy brwony rotteny

also a large chiunk of left over melon infridge

will then go and put ds gf deigner objects in lounge on ebay as she is still in bed and plan spending of proceeds

StrangeTown · 26/03/2007 15:05

Oh Zippi - trick pear - PMSL.

lionheart · 26/03/2007 15:39

Ten minutes of exercise is not daunting, theoretically, but ten minutes on a shiny trampoline is enough to reveal precisely why the midwives go on about pelvic floor exercises so very much. I had no idea.

On a brighter note, I am making a jolly good effort with the other target.

zippitippitoes · 26/03/2007 16:04

adopted a cunning plan re pear

probably under the influence of royal marine commando guy I was watching at the gym

I took pear and quickly sliced it in half with the bread knife and so it didn't have time to turn brown

ate with a piece of cheddar

zippi 1 pear 0

lionheart · 26/03/2007 16:26

lol Zippi. If you were really smitten you'd be half way to Afghanistan by now, not munching a cheesy pear.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 18:28

Those comice pears always do that IME - rock hard one minute, slushy crap the next

I have been at a birthday party eating fairy cakes. It was terribly energetic.

I am on 8 (I am losing momentum/running out of hours now).

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 20:43

Lion-heart

Lion-heart

Lion-heart

go on, eat more stuff

OP posts:
lionheart · 26/03/2007 20:49

lol

I suppose, it's only two more things.

(I couldn't get that second link in your OP to work, by the way, so I am using the general guidelines).

Tatties · 26/03/2007 20:53

at potential thread title

Dix sur dix on exercising that mental strength Franny

I have been a bit rubbish today... lets see, I've had carrot, apple juice, avocado, chickpea, spinach & tomato curry... I have kind of run out of fruit though, must go shopping tomorrow.

Lionheart 8 is good!

Have you been at the gym Franny?

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 20:56

OOh yes sorry that link is now defunct isn't it?

FrannyandZooey · 27/03/2007 08:21

Good morning fellow fruit freaks

I have had apple, pear, raisins, kiwi, 2 satsumas, and some soya milk

banana cake for later

zippitippitoes · 27/03/2007 09:19

zippi the fraud back

blimey franny it's only 9.00 am

I have had super granola crunch and oats..the former has some cranberries (dried ) in it

and my new thing of ginkgo and cq10

FrannyandZooey · 27/03/2007 11:11

Zippi not bad but you will have to get up early to out fruit me before 10 am

my consumption kind of tails off after that though, and by the evening I am lagging behind like the tortoise and the hare

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 27/03/2007 11:20

my new teeth hygiene fetish seems to hinder fruit eating

appparently eating lots of snacks militates against healthy teeth and gums due to repeated acid attack with too little recovery time

so you have to gorge on the fruit bowl all at once

FrannyandZooey · 27/03/2007 11:21

yup I am sure you are right

hence me eating 7 portions for breakfast then abstaining the rest of the day

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 27/03/2007 11:23

trifle annoying though as fruit seems designed as a snack

and having breakfast at all is something i have to make an effort ot do

Overrun · 27/03/2007 11:50

Hello mon petit pois (sp)
A slow start today I am afraid. I have had a banana, some peach juice, and some dried dates.
Going to have the last Avacado for lunch though. And the box is due today, hurray.
A word of advice, never ever ever make Avacado soup. I made it once, it was revolting

zippitippitoes · 27/03/2007 11:53

think we should see how many angry faces we can legitimately get on a froot thread

if franny says it's ok
