For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

We had red pepper and leek omelette with cousous and spring onions - it was lovely!

Overrun · 29/03/2007 19:44

Beetroots are still roasting slowly, think I am going to chop them up and toss them with some marmalade and butter, tis yummy,
Think I will do mustard mash, and dust the steamed cauli with cumin and such like and fry off.
Trouble is the beets are taking ages

Tatties · 29/03/2007 19:47

Mmmm, liking the sound of mustard mash and cauli

Franny did you go to the gym then?

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2007 19:51

Tatties was I meant to have?

I have been about twice this month, how shite is that?

I am getting swamped in visits from rellies and birthday party fever, am not exactly topping the health stakes here

my main form of exercise today was sweating on the KM Peyton thread

Hello! Today I have had- apple, banana, 2 oranges, dates, broccoli, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, peas and tomatoes- and the squits as a result!! I did not have custard creams for breakfast- I shall now take a bow while imagining the applause!
Are you ok after your operation, Overrun?

Greenleeves · 29/03/2007 20:01

Hi folks

I have sinned majorly today, I had lunch with a friend in a soft-play cafe (nicer than it sounds) and had a goat's cheese panini, it was divine, the cheese ran out all over the plate

In the fruit and veg stakes I have had: big handful of rocket/watercress/mizuna, two apples, half a banana...that's it

lionheart · 29/03/2007 20:05

Still with a thunky head.

Only managed 5 so far (and four of them were the smoothie sort).

I was at work, though, so that's not so bad. Plus, the night is young.

Tatties · 29/03/2007 20:07

Well you said that your gym friend may have come good after all, and you were going on Monday night? Didn't you? Not like I am exactly in a position to berate you for not going though

Greeny what you have had sounds yum, especially rocket and goats cheese

I was going to have fruit for dinner but ended up having this really gorgeous chocolate that has a truffle centre with real cocoa pieces...and some wine

StrangeTown · 29/03/2007 21:53

Suzy is back - lovely! Have you been eating cardboard and pork scratchings and felt unable to join us on the virtuous thread?
Tatties and Overrun - very impressive vegging from you too today - beats the veggie bhaji's I had.

Work a nightmare at the moment, very busy. Also got positive pregnancy result back from Docs today . Me and DH are desperately hoping it's third time lucky. Things are a bit messed up as not had a cycle since last m/c so not sure of dates, but still good news and more reason to eat healthily and excercise. At least the lack of energy has a known source now!

lionheart · 29/03/2007 21:58

Congratulations!

StrangeTown · 29/03/2007 21:59

Thanks lionheart - I do love your name btw!

Tatties · 29/03/2007 22:05

Oh congratulations StrangeTown, lovely news!

StrangeTown · 29/03/2007 22:09

Thank you Tatties! Not told anyone in RL yet or even on any of my usual moaning m/c threads on here. Happy, healthy and hopeful today

FrannyandZooey · 29/03/2007 22:12

Oh StrangeTown CONGRATULATIONS and loads of good vibes to you

As you were everyone - I have had my little gloat now we can go back to talking about veg and thinking about exercise. (That's all I seem to do on the exercise front at the moment...

suzycreamcheese · 30/03/2007 10:52

strangey..that is brill news! congratulations!!...thrilled for you both!

..and it lets you off with that pork scratchings and cardboard remark ....
did you see the jam were reforming, er without paul weller !! wtf, he was it!

..am dealing w/ dodgy broadband, and had rsi incident on right hand lately..

....food is good as usual, and abundance of fruit for once,,,,and yes exercise just a thought....
..actually, well we're off to fall gig sunday lots of dancing sweating at least 2 portions of excercise coming up in pleasant way...

Overrun · 30/03/2007 13:27

Congrats Strangetown, thats fabalous news.
I haven't managed much in the way of fruit and veg today, I have been at ds1 end of term trip to a farm park, so just managed to eat all the chopped cucumber that he refused and a couple of strawberries. Also a banana and a apple.
I am still wondering whether on the exercise front, playing something like Badmington or Tennis would be good. I just find it so boring do the same aerobic routine week after week.
I think I will have to wait a few more weeks before starting doing any exercise though
Got those bloody beets that took forever to reheat for tonight, now what I shall have with them. God talk about deja vu
Oh Franny you flatterer you, I will gladly do the catering, but think you will find that there are a lot of fabalous cooks on this thread Unless they are all lying of course

Tatties · 30/03/2007 20:40

Hello all, was feeling a bit rough today but have perked up after plenty of painkillers

I had a go at making my own muesli today, would love any of the muesli experts to tell me what you put in yours.

Haven't had a massive appetite, but have had apple juice, raisins, dried apricots, grapes, blackberries, peas and green beans.
