Chlamydia - where has it can't from?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 18:15

Last week I had a medical termination and as part of the procedure they test for STI and I was swabbed for chlamydia. I got a Cahill today too say I tested positive for chlamydia.

Dh and I have been together 12 years, no other sexual partners in this time. I was last tested 3 years ago when pregnant and was clear.

I have not cheated and I am 100% sure he hasn't. Not a doubt is in my mind about that. He works, eats and sleeps and thats about it!

Neither of us have had any symptoms, nothing.

I've got a line to get the anti b for both of us but I'm puzzled as to where it's came from.

Everything I read says sexually transmitted only.

The nursery mentioned anal chlamydia that might have transferred to my vagina?

Any ideas?

Years ago I got an eye infection, got eye drops from the GP but after a couple of days it was even worse, really swollen and painful, went back to GP and was sent to the eye hospital immediately. My eye infection was swabbed and diagnosed as chlamydia.

The hospital doctors insisted that I must have transferred this from elsewhere on my body so I had all sorts of swabs which were clear. They then said it must be somehow passed from a family member so (after our minds stopped boggling at how I'd get it in my eye Hmm ) DH and, I think possibly, both DCs were tested (they were both in nappies at the time) The whole family were clear and it was never explained how I got it.

The doctors were adamant it had to be caught through sexual or very close contact but DH tested negative, I was spending every waking hour looking after 2 very small DCs and I think I'd have noticed if a stranger had spunked in my eye

Fallen sky - sorry missed that post. When the nursery phoned I told her I was a bit puzzled and she said that the virus can live in the anal passage and due to the 'geography of the area' (her words) it can be transferred through wiping the wrong way and things like that (her words).

Ivor we just had the ' has anyone jizzed in your eye' conversation!

Well you have your answer OP either

•false positive

OR

•one of you has had sex with an infected person. Be that whilst together, or before. And given you've had 2 previous negatives, it's him. Has he been tested before?

Those are your ONLY options.

It's unlikely that given you've had sex so many times previously and never caught it before, that your OH has always had it. So it's false +ve or he's cheated. Easy enough to find out which. Question is, do you want to

bummymummy77 · 02/02/2017 19:10

So you've had two positives? So it's not a mistake. And you've had negatives before? And he's been tested before?

You think you got it from a hot tub? I'd be packing dh's bags about now. And I trust him 99.99999%

Haven't you seen thread after thread on here with women saying they thought their dp would never cheat. Until they leave or they catch them out?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 19:12

I've not had two positives. Calm down! He's not been tested yet, I'm joking about the hot tub.

God I'm glad I'm more rational that some - I'm nitpicking anyone's bags!

I have the say I was utterly sure exh couldn't cheat. Church youth worker, always horrified at affairs/ adultery on television etc but he did cheat 😟

Have a retest just in case but you need ABs asap if it is. So go to GUM clinic.

TheChosen1 · 02/02/2017 19:16

Am I missing something here?? If he hasn't been tested and you're certain he's been faithful then maybe he had it from before you were together??

BitchPeas · 02/02/2017 19:17

OP could you both go for a re test tomorrow? Seems as a false positive is possible.

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 19:18

Sex toys all brand new. Underwear all my own!

OP posts:
BoobleMcB · 02/02/2017 19:18

@TheChosen1 that IS possible but very unlikely given she's had negative tests before

user1471464906 · 02/02/2017 19:19

I'm pretty well qualified in this area so please follow my (and bakingaddict's) advice. I've never posted before but having read some of the other posts really wanted to reassure that it is medically possible the test is wrong.

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 19:19

I k ow bust we've been together that long surely I would have caught it by now and my tests from 3 years ago were clear.

I assume they were clear. It's a case of they get in touch if there's anything wrong like they did this week. I don't have any certificates or anything.

More rational than flipping out and packing bags!

OP posts:
Marmitepasta · 02/02/2017 19:23

No one is going to believe me but I contracted it while still a virgin!!! It is possible.
I left a tampon inside me for two weeks and after that had chlamydia. I was a virgin at the time so it was the only explanation.
Has anything like this happened to you, op?

MollyHuaCha · 02/02/2017 19:25

Marmite, is that possible??!

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 19:26

Not that I can recall, I did use a moon cup for a while but I blame that for the fact my mirena has fell out hence the reason I was going through all this in the first place.

OP posts:
HorridHenryrule · 02/02/2017 19:27

I am trying my best to look for information. I think you can rule out that it could have been lying dormant. You had a healthy pregnancy 3 years ago. I would get a second opinion they could have got your test sample mixed up.

HorridHenryrule · 02/02/2017 19:29

You do know you can get chlamydia in your throat as well. Did you give anyone oral sex marmite?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 19:29

I couldn't find anything on the anal transferring to vagina stuff either. I didn't ask her anymore as I was hands free in the car between jobs.

OP posts:
ChocoChou · 02/02/2017 19:30

Ooh Op actually I had a chlamydia test a few years ago and didn't hear anything. When I went for a nurse appointment a couple of years after I mentioned it and said "so I didn't hear anything so it must've been negative". She said actually no, it was my job to call them and ask for the result. I assumed no news was good news??
(It turned out it was negative anyway but just saying you can't assume the result)
