Chlamydia - where has it can't from?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 02/02/2017 18:15

Last week I had a medical termination and as part of the procedure they test for STI and I was swabbed for chlamydia. I got a Cahill today too say I tested positive for chlamydia.

Dh and I have been together 12 years, no other sexual partners in this time. I was last tested 3 years ago when pregnant and was clear.

I have not cheated and I am 100% sure he hasn't. Not a doubt is in my mind about that. He works, eats and sleeps and thats about it!

Neither of us have had any symptoms, nothing.

I've got a line to get the anti b for both of us but I'm puzzled as to where it's came from.

Everything I read says sexually transmitted only.

The nursery mentioned anal chlamydia that might have transferred to my vagina?

Any ideas?

Well I think I'll be vocal in asking anyone from wiping their eyes on my special place in future...

bummymummy77 · 07/02/2017 12:10

Hope you're ok op.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/02/2017 12:25

But it's obvious if you have the eye sort according to Google,it's not juts something that sits in noticed that you pass on.

Tardigrade001 · 07/02/2017 12:45

Sexual contact is the most common way to get Chlamydia, but definitely not the only one. I'm guessing the bacteria don't last long outside bodily fluids, so if you were, say, sharing a mascara with an infected person, you'd have to use it right after them in order to get infected. Still, it's a possibility.
Here:

'Chlamydia can be spread when you get bacteria in your eyes from:
Touching your eyes without washing your hands
Sharing washcloths, towels, cosmetics, or false eyelashes
Having sexual contact with someone who is infected
Also, a mother who has chlamydia can pass this disease to her baby during birth.'
From here:
www.summitmedicalgroup.com/library/adult_health/oph_chlamydial_conjunctivitis/

'Adult inclusion conjunctivitis results from C trachomatis serotypes D-K, causing chronic follicular conjunctivitis that can occur in adults or in the neonate. The adult disease is transmitted sexually or from hand-to-eye contact. Rarely, the adult disease is transmitted from eye-to-eye contact (eg, sharing mascara). '
From here:
reference.medscape.com/article/1203385-overview

'Rarely, adult inclusion (chlamydial) conjunctivitis is acquired from contaminated, incompletely chlorinated swimming pool water.'
From here: www.msdmanuals.com/professional/eye-disorders/conjunctival-and-scleral-disorders/adult-inclusion-conjunctivitis

'Whilst spread of the Chlamydia occurs from hand to eye from genital area infection, Chlamydial conjunctivitis itself can be transmitted by towels and facecloths used on eyes and being shared via eye secretions and discharges.'

Yes but like I said you would know if you had it in your eye, the OP would know if she or her dh had had it .

Msqueen33 · 07/02/2017 13:09

Good luck with both retests.

Tardigrade001 · 07/02/2017 13:20

The OP did say she's had several eye infections in the past few years.

Can't comment on whether anyone has cheated, just wanted to point out that other ways of infection are possible.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/02/2017 13:21

Ah sorry,I missed that!

loveyoutothemoon · 07/02/2017 14:55

Maybe the OP is ashamed to come back on? Because of the outcome.

JumpingJellybeanz · 07/02/2017 15:28

My work colleague caught chlamydia from her cat when it scratched her. Apparently it's not common but can happen.

ForeverLivingMyArse · 08/02/2017 19:37

Dh results through and he's all clear. I'm going to see if mine are in tomorrow. I had my xray as well and no coil to be seen, which is what they expected, but had to check. New one going in next week.

I will be glad to.see the end of all this.

I am assuming even more so now that my positive was false given that he's clear but should know for sure by the end of the week.

Didn't realise there has been new posts. Interesting info regarding the eyes. I'm not ashamed, just not posting when there was nothing else to add.

Msqueen33 · 08/02/2017 19:54

That's good his is clear. Good luck next week.

PetalMettle · 08/02/2017 20:12

Great he's clear. Thanks for the update and good luck next week

MollyHuaCha · 08/02/2017 20:18

Good luck OP Smile

booox · 08/02/2017 20:38

My friend is a vet and created a tumble weed moment at a dinner party when she mentioned you could catch chlamydia from parrots...

You can, but via breathing in particles or something. Not directly or sexually. But it is possible.

Hoping it's a false positive op.

booox · 08/02/2017 20:40

And I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

BoobleMcB · 08/02/2017 20:51

HAS to be a false positive then surely?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 09/02/2017 11:49

I'm a negative too!

Glad that's all cleared up now.

OP posts:
ForeverLivingMyArse · 09/02/2017 11:58

Also glad there was trust between dh and I and no accusations or suspicion over the last week.

The nurse said so few people question their result as most are getting tested as they have engaged in unprotected sex with people they don't know well. Hope I've seen the back of docs and clinics for a while now. I have an appointment for a new coil to be fitted but I'm a bit unsure about it after all this.

ChopOrNot · 09/02/2017 12:06

Oh I am soooo pleased for you. And well done for maintaining your faith in each other.

Wonder if any of those saying "Your DH must have been unfaithful" will be back to admit your faith was not misplaced...

LHReturns · 09/02/2017 12:10

I think you have managed this thread with utter elegance and dignity OP.

It is also good to know that there are exceptions to the rule. I would probably be one of those women that would rip my DH's head off before pausing and going through the process you have done. If I am ever in the same position I hope I will take a leaf out of your book.

WheresEeyoresTail · 09/02/2017 12:11

Fab news!
And suck on that to those who were adamant you couldn't possibly trust your husband! Grin

Frouby · 09/02/2017 12:17

Whoop whoop OP!

So glad it was negative.

And so glad you listened to your gut and not some of the vile posters on your thread.

bummymummy77 · 09/02/2017 12:22

That's brilliant! I'm so sorry I had any doubt towards your husband op.
