It's there now! Brill

Jennster · 19/01/2007 22:40

And oh dear. dd is a big bully. We went to a mate's house this afternoon. There were only three of us and our babes all girls all 6-3 weeks older than dd and a good 3-6 inches taller and walking and all that and she made them BOTH cry. She was just being friendly, HONESTLY!

Macdog · 19/01/2007 23:20

Hello Jennster!

I've put my other photos on my gallery

Good on yer dd. My dd is prone to doing the same sort of thing. She is 4 weeks younger than the next aged bub at bf group and tops several of them for length/weight and yet is not fat. 100% pure muscle !!
The phrase 'made in Scotland from girders' springs to mind when I see her lobbing toys around her playpen!!!

It's mine that's a tiddler. I don't understand it. Dh is 6' and I'm 5'10.

worleygig · 20/01/2007 10:06

hello eveyone,

the toes better now thanks macdog.
i didnt switch the pc on yestersay as i felt so rough, managed to get a doc appt as i have infected sinuses again, and ear infections and a throat infection, back at work for 2 weeks and pick up all sorts of things. so back on the antibiotics again,, oh shit.. i just remebered that last time i was on them and bf i got really sore nipples for somereason, maybe i will this time and maybe i wont as they are a differnt one. i hope i dont it was toe curling last time.

ds2 has a bad cold too, his nose is sooo runy its disgusting, he hates me keep wiping his nose and keeps moving his head side to side every time i appear with a tissue, i have been putting some sudacreme round our noses as they are getting sore. off to buy some of them posh balsam tissues later i think. hes really chesty too poor baby.

anyone got any recommendations for a good medicine to give him to dry is nose up a bit? i tried some medisoothe stuff and didnt work at all and tastes foul, even i tried it and couldnt take it. was wondering about tixylix?

anyway, now off ot look at your photos everyone...

worleygig · 20/01/2007 10:13

macodg, your dd looks so much like you!!shes gorgeous

Macdog · 20/01/2007 10:19

Sorry to hear the Worleys are all poorly.
Don't think there's anything you can give for a runny nose
If you going to shops, pop in to your local chemist and ask the pharmacist if they can recommend anything
Other than that, just Karvol drops on a tissue beside their bed to try and keep their nose clear

Macdog · 20/01/2007 10:20

Meant to say, I use baby wipes for dd's nose. They don't dry the skin out as much

Am pharmacist (sshhh) Worley. No idea what's in Medisoothe (prob an own brand) but Medised is pretty good. Is paracetamol and diphenhydramine (an antihistamine) which stops nose from running and makes them drowsy. Tastes horrid though so prob same thing as medisoothe.

All of us have been ill since Christmas, December being my busiest time of year. Honestly you close for 2 extra days and everybody needs 2 months of prescriptions for some reason. Anyway as soon as you finish for a few days and have Christmas, knackeredness sets in and all the bugs you've been resisting take over. We've got through a bottle of Olbas oil and there's nowt I can take but paracetamol. Sinuses are very sore but am resisting getting antibiotics for it seeing as I have taken more antibiotics in the last year than I have in my entire life. I've got my voice back but now my throat is sore. Dh is losing his voice again, and his tongue is really sore. DD has had a chesty cough for weeks and snots for England. (moan over I'm empathising with you)

For sinusitis, my advice is steam inhalation and try equalising your nose rather than blowing all the time. I inflamed my nose really badly by blowing too hard for months. Blow gently. If sinuses REALLY bad then otrivine nasal spray is really good but don't use for longer than 7 days.... BELIEVE me. I'm should know.

Macdog · 20/01/2007 18:53

Hi Jennster! Hope you're not going to be inundated for medical advice now !
dh Pharmacy Tech in Hospital. I get him to bug his colleagues if dd poorly .

we are escaping the worst bugs. dd got cough and I got sore throat but nothing serious.

Am starting to wean dd off bf now. Trying to give her drinks from a cup instead.

Are you putting your profile up, Jenn ??

Thankyou Jennster. medised is what i meant!! i went to the pharmacy and the nice pharmacist man said all ds1 could have was the medised, so as i already had that at home i left it. i have some karvol capsules but his nose is really runny and i thought they were supposed to unblock it? which is a problem he doesnt have. anyhow, i came up with the idea of mixing some medised in with his tea which he ate about 3/4 of. Hes not really interested in his food today so he had porridge for tea (which he loves) in a bid to get someting in to him, but hes bf lots so he should be ok.

my ds1 has gone to the pictures tonight with my mum and dad to watch that one niht in a museum or something, so as dp is at work and ds2 has actually gone to sleep its just me and the pc,!!! with dancing on ice in the background.

worleygig · 20/01/2007 20:45

dont know how i managed that one?

Jennster · 20/01/2007 20:50

Yeah but blocked sinuses are really painful. Karvol will help relieve the pressure, but won't significantly increase the nasal discharge!

Jennster · 20/01/2007 20:51

As for the profile, can't be arsed. Too technical. Would need to be talked through it step by step.

Jennster · 20/01/2007 20:55

Cool profile Worley. Love the picture of your little ones, and the one with the two Santas! Hate cutesy but that is lovely.

Jennster · 20/01/2007 21:00

And can you recommend the baby whisperer? Have the 'sorts your problems' book, but got it quite late on. Did you start the routines early? Am very interested in getting it for my next one.

worleygig · 20/01/2007 21:50

i have to say i didn't start any routines early on. the first month was such a blur and then it was the school summer holidays so nothing started then either. but by the end of sept we sort of had a little routine, in that we would be up at 7.30 and then would be ready for bed at 7 pm. and only before xmas i started the bath before bed then feed and off to sleep by 6.45. now i have to get ds2 up at 7am when im at work so i can feed and express etc.

the baby whisperer book is quite interesting in the way she describes the different types of babies there are and the E.A.S.Y routine she says to have. Eat - feed baby A activity time S sleep Y you time. it sounds silly but that didnt occur to me that is was a round and round circle of easy !! and then following the e.a.s.y was easyer to fall in to a routine

worleygig · 21/01/2007 11:35

hey voods are you ok? hope your having a good weekend or something..
ds2 didnt sleep too well last night, was awake/asleep/awake/asleep from 7 - 11 then asleep till 6.30 ths morning, now asleep again.
i've persuaded dp to take tonight off work so he can have ds2 in the morning so he doesnt have to go to nursery then i can try and get tues am off also, its now grenn thick snot crawling down his nose [disgusted look] the mixing the medised stuff in with his porridge is working - sort of, at least hes getting more than when i syringe it in ( i dont bother with spoons, it ends up everywhere)

Jennster · 21/01/2007 11:43

I'm knackered and I got a lie in 'til 8.30! DD slept right through (not counting the 4oz she wolfed at 11 just before I went to bed.) Am selling my pram on ebay and have been trying to dig out the instruction booklets (which were frankly rubbish anyway) and assemble my new pram. Want to go for a walk today and get some fresh air.

Macdog · 21/01/2007 17:38

Did you have fun on the hen do, Voodz???
ARE YOU HUNGOVER ????

I've got a sore arm. Pulled muscles while doing the straw in the dog kennel. It hurts

I'll try to pop back for a blether later

OP posts:

Wow my new pram is BRILL. My Quinny was flashy and pretty good, but didn't quite deliver. Kind of a Brad Pitt (rhyming slang intended too) looks good but all his films are shit (except Seven). My new pram (Phil and Teds) doesn't look as good but is supremely smooth maybe like a sleek volvo, a bit naff but does the job very well.

It was certainly very fresh this afternoon for our walk. We also made £230 selling our Quinny and a breastfeeding chair. The guy who got the quinny got a bargain!

Jennster · 21/01/2007 22:17

21 days and one glass of wine. I can't believe I have drunk so little. I'm sure I had a glass a week last pregnancy. I also can't believe how little I've missed it. I was not quite an alchy but I did like a couple of glasses of red wine every night. In fact the thought of a hangover puts me right off....[polishes halo]
