Cabbage Soup/Negative Calorie Diet - Anyone with experience?

Happy New Year All...

I thought I might try the Cabbage Soup diet this month (after reading about it here)... I went to the website given and found reference to the Negative Calorie Diet (which I've not heard of before) it sounds too good to be true...

Does anyone have experience of this diet?
Does anyone know if the book is currently available in the uk?

TIA

Hi Crunchie, Happy New year - we need to get a slimming world thread going agin! I am going to do the cabbage soup from Monday but maybe only for 5 days! Then straight onto green days. I am trying for 5lbs a month till summer and this will kick start me!

Beetroot, Well I am veggie too and I don't do day 5 and 6 properly. I usually have fruit and veggies on day 5 (as day 3) and prawns and fruit and veggies on day 6 (I eat the odd bit of shellfish). I know there is another version of this diet called the 'New Cabbage Soup' diet which includes brown rice and yoghurt every day. There is a book avavilable, but I use the original plan diet I can't find the 'new' recipe online.

Salt, have not heard of this one but sil did once mention a cabbage soup diet, of soup everyday with lots of vegetables and stuff in...have also read or seen on tv that the chinese enjoy healthy eating as they use so many spices in diet that it satisfies so many taste buds..it's true; sil said cabbage thingy was a bit boring; anyspices to liven it up could be worth a go, also how unhealthy are you really, do you drink lots of tea and coffee like me, I always seem bloated and not slim...sorry to ask it's just wondered how your eating habits were, mine okay but nibble too much and don't exercise enough...CV's sounds good, she looks great...Good Luck

Started this this morning!!!

So far 2 cups of black tea (I am allowing myself 3!), one glass water (7 to go!!), one apple and a slice of melon. Looking forward to a huge thermos of soup and fruit salad for lunch.

I did my soup last night, I used loads of garlic (about 6 cloves) and loads of chillis (about 3 - 4 red chillis) it is really spicy, which should be good.

I am hoping to lose about 4 - 5lbs this week.

I started CSD this morning too. I detoxed Fri-Sun and have lost 1lb. I made my soup a little different so I'm doing a cabbage soup hybrid diet - I'll let you know how I get on!!

Have eaten loads of fruit today and have bought lemon tea into work with me - no soup til dinner tonight for me - am not hungry at all yet so I'm quite pleased!!

oooh Beetroot, chilli and lemongrass! That would be a nice one, with fresh coriander. I usually do one massive panful of soup which lasts the first 3 days (I drink so much of it!) and then do another one for the last 4 days (I start to get bored at that point!) So the next flavour could be chilli and lemongrass, or maybe cumin/corriander and mustard. I whizz it up sometimes simply for another texture!

Some people I know do a panful of plain soup and flavour it as they go, adding spices/herbs to their days supply. This could be an idea I suppose.

I reacon any fat free veggie soup would work on this diet, but it needs to be quite watery, without potato or any starchy stuff, there is another great 'soupy' thread, which is quite inspiring too.

One last question, does anyone know if a Thermos should keep soup HOT rather than lukewarm by lunchtime?

Beetroot, Looks like it's just us!! I feel fine today, non-stop weeing, but already 'fresher'. Although I am going to admidt a cheat (hanging head in shame) we went to the cinema tonight and I had a couple of handfuls of salted popcorn and some diet coke!! But in my defense I had not been home after work, therefore no soup or supper and I was starving!! At least I didn't eat the bucket as normal!!
