here we go...

Kurri, we could cook up seaweed together on that beach. Think it might be a marmite place. My DH asked if there was a pub! Shock

Excellent nursing btw. Not wearing a helmet's bloody silly and deserves a pink fleecy blanket.

SparkleRainbow · 11/06/2012 14:16

True - pink fleecy blanket as punishment for lack of helmet seems a necessity to me.

Gigondas · 11/06/2012 14:26

Old nanny still here sparkle but second one here to help cover (and act as replacement if necessary). Idea being I don't have to do anything more than necessary and dh doesn't have to worry about cover.

And she is marginally better but very emotional (her dad dieing- not unexpected but she is understandably distraught and It's hard as is cancer albeit lung cancer prob due to his 50 a day habit) .

But that aside she is struggling to cope particularly with mini gig (who has taken against her in the way all babies do with anyone they detect stress in). New one just gets on with it (she was working for family with 4 kids whose father was in services so doesn't seemed phased by anything . Can you tell I like her? Wink).

Am having ifosamide and doxorubicin together. Isn't dox the one that Colours your wee? Start next Tuesday but I am having inpatient which is probably as well as can let them fiddle about so manage se and don't get released til have some control.

Gigondas · 11/06/2012 14:29

Love the fleecy blankwt and agree that no helmet daft.

Our house temporarily empty of youfs - dsd gone back to uni for couple of nights to watch footballget drunk as a skunk with his mates. We also had my dozy nephew staying last night who had an interview in town then is off to join dsd. I hope opening doors isn't part of his test as he failed to negotiate how to unlock ours Grin

NedSchneebly · 11/06/2012 14:42

All done and dusted! Favourite nurses were on, which was nice, and chocs were much appreciated. Ward sister came over and whispered that she couldn't resist opening them and said they were delicious! Will get some more for the fbs trolley. . . Am safely installed on the sofa with cricket highlights and last of Great British Menu to watch.

MIL is very unpleasant at times, particularly when she has had too much wine, which is scarily frequently. She is very rude to and demanding of my FIL, who is so remarkably tolerant of her - I would see her somewhere if she spoke to me like that, which she does occasionally. She is very rude and disparaging to my DH, which makes him very cross and finds it hard to be restrained when she is nagging and sniping away at him about stupid things. Everything has to be about her - she is very self centred - the last time she was rude to me, FIL had a go at her, and then she wouldn't speak to me for 24 hours, because it was my fault FIL had told her off. Hmm

sparkle ! Good to see you. Your DS sounds so fab - what a sensible lad. Glad he had a lovely time at the museum.

Am slightly freaked out by th synchronised smoke alarms. . . Du du du du du du du du (in case anyone was wondering, that was my representation of the Twilight Zone. . . Smile )

gig I have no experience of having a PICC line, but I have experience of trying to find a decent vein every time something needs doing. . I think I would go for a line if you've been offered it. I too clearly missed the exit of the previous nanny. Glad to hear DDs like the new one. Hope you can get shoulder / neck sorted - sounds v painful.

MAS hope T had a reasonable time in his Maths exam. Got everything crossed for him! I think he's in year 10? Is is a module exam or internal school one? Hope it goes OK and that he comes home pleased with how he performed, because I think that's the most important thing.

misspiggy sorry you and DH going through this. Waiting is th shit part, so definitely stick with us. We're good at hand holding Smile

Waves to paramedic kurri, smee, topsy amber - hope everyone having a reasonable afternoon. Big hugs all round x x

NedSchneebly · 11/06/2012 14:49

Xpost gig anything rubicin is the one that makes you pee pink/ red - don't be too alarmed, it's fairly sort lived. ! Drink plenty of liquid, because it can irritate your bladder.

Glad new nanny settling in OK - will definitely be a weight off your mind with everything happening next week. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2012 15:13

hooray for nice new nanny- that will be reassuring to know that mini and big gig are being looked after well. Are you in a nice hospital, or West Middx ?
Am sure bike boy very grateful for pink blanket- but yes, although they look silly, bike helmets are a good idea.
Ds is doing a module exam (he's in yr 10) but he's not sure whether he's doing a biology one tomorrow (a resit apparently) I find it totally confusing.
Am just finishing sorting my tax stuff- yipee ! Will go and buy a huge padded envelope to send it off. Then I need to crack on with some work
misspiggy thinking of dh and really hope it's not a bad outcome- but as the others have said, treatment is so much advanced these days - understandably you will be thinking of what your mum went through,so it's very hard.

smee · 11/06/2012 15:24

Yeay for Ned.. Smile Smile Here's to you my dear. Top woman that you are, you've done brilliantly to cross the finish line. xx

New Nanny does sound rather lovely, Gig. Tuesday next eh. Well good that you're starting soon. How many cycles are you having? I have no experience of those two. I'd bet they'll blast the critters though. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2012 15:25

oh ned -sorry-meant to say congratulations on last dose !! Grin

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 11/06/2012 15:36

Congrats on last dose Ned - well done SmileSmile xx

Bike boy is probably back home now telling his family 'an awful bossy woman wrapped me in a pink blanket and told me to get a helmet' Grin

It does feel good to be a trained paramedic now though (to add to the medical degree I got from watching Holby City) Grin

I also wrapped up the woman who had knocked him off his bike (by driving stupidly Hmm) she got my coat, - I was in a wrapping kind of mood Grin

Glad you have a new nanny sorted Gig, - you don't need the stress of worrying about childcare atm.

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 16:34

Afternoon All

I didn't have a picc line for my last chemo Gig , but I'm definitely going for one this time !
Most of my chemo appointments were taken up by the chemo nurse digging round my for arm for a vein !
So starting Tuesday ? Do you know how long they will keep you in for ?

Nurses changed my dressings today .
Nipple still oozing pus Sad
I just want to go out and buy bras !

Got my pre chemo apt next Monday , just want to get going on it . It's been put off so many times now .

Roast chicken for dinner tonight .

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 16:35

Am very proud of Dr kk Grin
You will have to start carrying round emergency fluffy blankies all the time !

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 16:36

And that's brilliant that your chemo is finished Ned .
Time to celebrate , once you are feeling more human anyway !

graciesmall09 · 11/06/2012 16:48

Just popping on quickly (I know I always say that) but just in from work/bone scan. Over the moon to say bone scan COMPLETELY CLEAR Grin so I would like a shotgun now for the stupid consultant that has had me worried sick for the past few weeks.

ned fantastic news that your chemo is over. I can sense there may be some celebrating called for later in the week. MIL sounds very unpleasant. My MIL and I have had a sometimes very difficult relationship over the years. She is a 'my way or no way' sort of person but I have to say she has been an absolute star over the last couple of months.

PMpiggy thinking of you and your DH tonight. Really hope the results are ok. Is it a one-stop clinic he is going to or will he have to wait for his results?

gigs Glad you are happy with your new nanny. I think you deserve a good one considering the trouble the other one has caused you. I have a picc line. It was a bit of a faff getting it in but I have extremely dodgy veins and didn't like the idea of then digging for one each time I needed chemo. I may need mine replaced though because they are not getting 'venous return' whatever that is so they are checking it again this week and we will go from there.

sparkle Hope you DS gets through his day at school without much pain. Glad he enjoyed his trip.

kurri Glad your neck a little better. Shall we call you dr kurri now after your emergency, paramedic rescue? Grin stupid boy for not wearing a helmet.

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 17:42

Fantastic news Gracie !!!
Bloody stupid doctor , grrrrr !

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2012 18:05

fantastic news gracie - yay !!!!

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2012 18:06

oh,just copied topsy but it is brilliant news Grin

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 11/06/2012 18:31

gracie that is first class news - you must be over the moon. Share celebratory fbs with me? Grin

Thanks for all congratulatory messages - am feeling quite pleased to get this phase over and done with Smile Just have to try and avoid neutropenia again!

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 18:48

Yes Ned , feet up on the sofa and drink lots of Guiness Grin

Ye Gods , tv even worse tonight than last night .
How long is this football malarkey on for ?

Maybe I shall start one of the lovely new books I have instead ?

KurriKurri · 11/06/2012 19:01

Brilliant news gracie, what a relief Smile - but Angry at that doctor worrying you like that.

topsy - can I join you in the 'TV is rubbish, football is driving me bonkers' corner? - there is nothing on, - I think its on for at least 2 weeks Biscuit (thought the biscuit was appropriate there Grin)

You may all call me Dr Kurri now - who knew it was so easy to become a qualified medical practitioner?, - no need for all this years of training lark, just call yourself Doctor and Bob's your uncle Grin

The cheese thief Old lady dog has made rather a lot of requests to be let into the garden today HmmGrin

PessimisticMissPiggy · 11/06/2012 19:30

gracie not sure if it's one stop in the evening. I had a day appointment for a cyst a few years back and it appeared to be the mode there.

Just BFing DD after a bath. Pasta night and DD loves smearing sauce everywhere. It took our minds of things whilst we ate tea and made us smile.

DH left about 20 mins ago armed with a pen, paper and questions that I've told him to ask. He's not very assertive and will often just let things run. He's currently waiting 6 weeks between dental work because he wouldn't press persuasively for an earlier appt.

When I've put DD to bed I've got a list of jobs to occupy me, but think that I'll do some knitting until DH calls me.

graciesmall09 · 11/06/2012 19:31

Thanks everyone. ned You can share the lemon cheesecake I have popped on the trolley. Feet up now and rest.

I'll join you all in the 'football is rubbish' chant. I am supposed to be typing up a speech my son has written which he needs tomorrow. He has been asked to go back to his primary school on Thursday and tell all the Year 6 pupils about his new school. [proud mummy]

Poor wee lady dog kurri. My lovely furball just wolfed his dinner down, barfed it up and before I could lift it, he munched it all down again, disgusting dog.

topsyturner · 11/06/2012 19:42

I have been calling pig/dog in today (when he barks and refuses to come in) with the aid of a tub of shaved Parmesan !
Spoilt bugger Grin

When I was being sick after my last surgery , I had my head in a bucket puking and pig/dog had his head in trying to lap it up !
They are truly disgusting ...

Miss Piggy I remember the days when the DC used to think food was not for eating , but more use as a full body moisturiser Grin

Now watching Saturdays Poirot .

smee · 11/06/2012 20:00

eeuww...

Just nipped in and see the tone's as high as ever. Grin

Gracie hooray for clear bone scan!! Brilliant isn't the word. Hope you're having a bit of a celebration.

PMissP, keeping busy sounds sensible. Hope he calls soon with the best of news.

jchocchip · 11/06/2012 20:18

Gracie hurray :)

and well done ned on your last dose.

+ve vibes for MrPMissP

Our cat has a little friend who has taken a shine to his crunchies. Lovely to see them playing, but hope the kitten isn't going to terrorise our moggy!

Monday eve is a bit manic, Dd2 at guides and needs collecting soonish..
