Great news, 1in8. Hope the s/effects aren't too awful when/if they come. And thanks for the wee tipple. I'm off the booze really but I can have a few sips 'on special occasions' and this certainly is one.

xxx

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 21:08

Yippee for 1in8 Wine to celebrate :) not sure if it mixes well with thorntons but will give it a go :o

making a second batch of jam, grabbed a couple of sticks of rhubarb so a mixture, but that means I shouldn't be up all night waiting for it to set.

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2012 21:44

hooray for eight !!!!! well done xxxxx

KurriKurri · 05/06/2012 22:59

Well done eight Smile that's great Wine

Good luck with the hair colouring topsy, - I'm still trying to decide what colour to have mine done, something streaky I think.

jam sounds great jane - does rhubarb make it set more quickly? that's a useful tip, I know apple helps but had no idea about rhubarb. Homemade jam lasts about five minutes in this house! Grin

I haven't seen that many Union flags round here Baskets, (mind you I'm not very observant), - Perth is nice (not Paris, but nice Grin) - and the countryside round is lovely, I've got a friend there, -I remember visiting Scone Palace when I stayed with her Grin

Love to all and good wishes for anyone having treatment, or appointments tomorrow. I am having my gym induction tomorrow - no doubt I shall be by far the fattest and the oldest person there, but hey ho, never mind, - DD is coming with me for moral support and so we can 'hit' the gym together

night night all xx

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 23:44

Oops. Rhubarb makes it harder to set. First lot is really set -almost toffee, second batch with the rhubarb is still runny. kk gym induction will be fine, they may write a card out for you, so you don't have to remember all the settings for the machines.
nighty night. Work tomorrow, or I would make some scones - maybe when I get home :)

topsyturner · 06/06/2012 07:21

Morning All

Hair done .
I choose to call it strawberry blonde !
(not Kranky Orange as one of my former friends called it Grin )

I quite like it , but it takes a bit of getting used to .

Jane mix the 2 jams together , you will get the perfect consistency then !

Mas hope you slept without worrying about T .

DS back to school today . English and RE exams today .
DD doesn't go back till tomorrow . She has a friend round this morning though , so that should occupy her for a little while thank goodness ...

Gym induction eh ?
< topsy shudders and rolls back over in bed>

What's everybody else up to on this damp Wednesday ?

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2012 08:53

good luck with gym kk - am sure it'll be fun and you aren't the oldest and fattest I'm sure... my dad still goes to the gym and revels in the fact that he's probably the oldest there !
topsy love your hair dyeing pictures on fb Grin !!
jane jam making sounds fun- have never made jam but with our prospective bumper harvest of quinces might try doing quince jelly.
T is there now,and in bed I should think- they've been up the Empire State Building according to the itinerary - I meanwhile have slept very badly having anxted about everything- more from my point of view projecting that on to T - have been trying to distract myself- hope it wears off.

Hooray for the last chemo, OneinEight! Smile

Glad to hear T is in NY safely, MAS. I know what you mean about the anxting - dd is on a canal holiday with her aunt, uncle and cousins: last night they were having to keep chugging for hours after they should have stopped because they had got themselves into the horrible underside of a city and they didn't fancy tying up for the night Shock Anxious? Me? Oh, yes! Grin Especially as it's a city I know well and there was literally NOWHERE nice for miles Hmm

I am very sure T's trip is rather better organised. And dd seems to be still alive Wink

Jane - I love making jam but haven't done it for years. I think you have got me in the mood for another go. Must go and look out the jam kettle......

Hope your shoulder is OK, KK. You won't be the fattest kid there, trust me. Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 06/06/2012 15:44

Bloody hell!

Il pleut. Il really, really, REALLY pleut. Zut alors! Shock

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2012 16:42

Magnificent Grin

I shall send the dosh as soon as I get the bill!

thegreylady · 06/06/2012 18:06

I have been shopping in Matalan Blush loads of teenage tat to take to Turkey [howzat for alliteration].I will buy some good stuff for dgs too but she loves a pile of goodies to rummage through.
darent say how much I spent though-my dh never asks he just hopes I enjoyed the trip-which I really really did :)

KurriKurri · 06/06/2012 18:42

Back from yoga this morning and gym this afternoon - and had a nice lunch with DD in between (it wasn't raining at that point so we were able to sit in the park). I wasn't the oldest or the fattest at the gym - Phew! (neither was I the youngest or slimmest though Grin) but I quite enjoyed it, - obviously I did everything on the easiest levels, but I can build up, and I avoided anything that might hurt my shoulder.

I managed not to shoot off the back of the treadmill - which was one of my worries Grin All in all it was fun, so I'll go again soon.

Hope DD isn't getting soaked on her canal holiday Sometimes, - it does sound fun though Smile

topsy - we will need pictures of the orange strawberry blonde hair.

Greylady - I love a good rummage in Matalan, - they have some nice things there, - as well as teenage tat Grin When are you off to Turkey?

jane - I obviously got hold of the wrong end of the stick of rhubarb Grin regarding the jam - will make sure I don't put any in next time I make jam.

MAS - good on your Dad for going to the gym, try not to anxt about T, he will be fine and enjoying himself - bet he'll want to sleep for a week when he gets home though!

love to all xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2012 19:53

just seen a photo of T in NY - they have a tumblr page for updates ! (it's on my fb page) Am feeling a bit less fretful.

Oh flip, I think I have made a huge mistake. Today was my first day back at work. It was manic, I worked through my lunch and I just wasn't ready for how awful I would feel. Not sure if it is because of my horse tablets or the fact I have had a horrible pain at my temple for 3 days but I just feel really awful. I even feel nauseous again and very little would make me sick. Off to bed now.

jchocchip · 06/06/2012 21:15

kk It was my mistake, I thought it would have pectin in but it doesn't. You can use it just add lemon juice and boil until you really do get a setting point and don't just imagine it like I did for the second batch!
Nnight gracie sweet dreams.
glad you are calming down mas it IS a big thing though ds going abroad so don't be too hard on yourself.

greylady tat for Turkey sounds good :)

Ici il pleut aussi If I go for my run, I will be trempe jusqu'aux os!!

How's strawberry blond topsy today?

topsyturner · 06/06/2012 21:36

Aaaaaaaaaargh !
I bloody hate my hair .
The colour is ok , but it's just so darn frizzy and uncontrollable when it's so short .
Have had a session with the straighteners this evening , and it looks worse than when I started .
I am so crap at the girly stuff , I feel a down mood coming on ...

Figgyroll · 06/06/2012 21:46

Evening everyone, had a quick catchup as I've been away for a few weeks - holiday last week and preparations before that. We had a super time but the week went quickly.

Glad to see T got off to NY alright, MAS and that he's arrived safely. It is perfectly normal to be a nervous wreck when our children venture off by themselves. Good news that mum's meds are working.

KK, hope the ouchy shoulder is settling down. I am looking into joining a local gym now I'm back. I really want it for the aqua aerobics classes. (Put 4lbs on while we were away Blush).

Topsy, love the new look hair. Sorry you haven't fully recovered from your op yet but I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon.

Gracie, hope you feel better when you wake up. Night night.

Greylady, I haven't had time to read the thread yet but hope you don't take it too much to heart. I'm appalled at how some ladies on MN bully others if they dare take a different stance to theirs.

Oneineight - hooray for last chemo. Enjoy the champers.

Sorry for missing anyone out. Will do a proper catch up tomorrow. Night night all.

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2012 22:15

am sure hair will settle itself topsy - don't feel down x
gracie hope some sleep restores you, poor love x

KurriKurri · 06/06/2012 22:31

hello Figgy - nice to see you Smile

gracie - just see how you get on - try not to worry, I think you just have to go with the flow a bit. Next time you go in to work it may be easier, but if you find you can't manage, then you can't - the important thing is to concentrate on getting through your treatment and getting well enough to go back when you are ready. xx

topsy - ask those style and beauty women for hair advice, - I'm sure they will no what product to use for frizziness (I am completely clueless about such things I'm afraid) - I'm sure I've seen mention of some kind of oil that is supposed to be good, but I can't remember the name of it.

MAS - lovely that you can see photos and keep up with T's itinerary Smile

Feeling slightly achy now!

topsyturner · 06/06/2012 22:31

Welcome home Figgy

Gracie slow down at work ! Take a lunch break , you are not super woman !

Think I am just a bit a flutter tonight as I have an appointment with the surgeon first thing in the morning .
And all I can think of is the district nurses words from this morning when she said "Hmm that nipple is looking a funny colour"
Sad

KurriKurri · 06/06/2012 22:36

Oh good luck for tomorrow topsy, - fingers crossed it will all be OK sweetie xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/06/2012 23:12

Morning all. More rain here. . .

Saw oncologist yesterday. He has decided that I might be a good idea to reduce the docetaxol dose a bit and start the GCSF a day earlier. Fingers crossed that i can get through without requiring hospitalisation this time! Have been booked in to start radiotherapy (and tamoxifen at the same time) on July 2nd. Pleased that next stage is in place. All being well, I'll then have 2 weeks at the end to recover before we go away to Devon. Should be OK with side effects, I hope?

topsy hope all goes well with the surgeon today. Everything crossed for you.

eight woo hoo! Last one! Bet it feels great to have it done. Hope you're feeling OK today. Definitely worth celebrating. Sending you Wine and Thanks

kurri really pleased you had a positive experience at the gym - i think it makes such a difference if the first visit is motivating/ enjoyable/ positive as it definitely makes you want to go back. I spoke to N, my ex marine, on Monday, and was very comforted that he was indeed as lovely as I remembered from the last time I spoke to him. We're going to have a proper chat in 2 weeks when he's back from work trip, and make a plan. He told DH that he thought I was very motivated!

gracie sorry your first day back was tough. Take it easy, OK? Maybe it will get easier next time you go in?

figgy! Good to see you. Glad you had a lovely holiday.

MAS what's on the itinerary for T today? Good that you can keep up to date with pictures etc.

jchoc how's the jam looking? Rhubarb jam sounds delicious. Any spare for the trolley?

sometimes does sound a little alarming for DD! Sure she's having a fun time though.

greylady glad you've found some nice things for your holiday. When are you off? Bet you're looking forward to it Smile

gig you OK, lovely?

Waves to anyone else around this morning x x x
