OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 04/06/2012 22:10

Oh and lovely DS has shared his tonsillitis and I have sore, sore throat and white spots on my tonsils. So on 500 mg of Penicillin 4 times per day, see an excessive dose but what do I know. Hope it isn't going to hinder my return to work.

topsyturner · 04/06/2012 22:11

Forgot about all the air in them Jane .

And Gracie , think I might be hitting the Spar tomorrow ...
How are you doing now ? I take the driver has finished for this course ?
I ate huge amounts when I had the driver in , it's all the steroids in it !

topsyturner · 04/06/2012 22:13

Good idea to whack it on the head with some horse tablets Gracie , especially being immuno compromised .

jchocchip · 04/06/2012 22:20

Ooo we have a Spar along the main road :) Tonsillitis is :( Hope your throat feels better soon gracie

graciesmall09 · 04/06/2012 22:30

Oh topsy I put on half a stone. Had the driver down on Sunday and even got up last night and made cheese and onion crisp sandwiches. I did think I might order a burger but DH looked at me as if I had two heads. I CAN'T STOP EATING. I also have a lovely round steroid face.

jchoc glad you had a good day. Not giving my age away or anything but I remember we had a street party for the silver jubilee. It was fab. No street parties near me this year but we had a fab day at a family fun day where I may have had a burger or two.

topsyturner · 04/06/2012 22:44

Gracie I ate everything within arms reach ! DH had to put an exclusion zone round me incase I ate one of the kids ! Grin

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 08:41

:o at topsy eating the children!

Morning all. Lazy morning here. Got up to let the cat out then back to bed. I like bank holidays :)

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2012 09:03

good morning - hope you are all feel;ing chipper today -T is up and very excitedas you can imagine ! Taking him to school at 11.50 -coach goes at ten past 12 and flight sometime around 5pm. Case packed and hand luggage ready, sketchbook and birthday card slipped in,cameras and iPod charged..hope nothing has been forgotten (teachers looking after the passports)

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 11:14

T will have a great experience - hope he has lots of fun :) mas time for lots of treats for you while he is away, too.

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2012 11:19

thanks jane - am sure he/we will !

graciesmall09 · 05/06/2012 11:41

mas hope DS has a fab time. We will keep you occupied while he is away.

topsy Grin no eating the kids, mint aero are much more tasty.

Going to have a relaxing day today as my throat is killing me. I can't really believe I'm going back to work tomorrow. I don't know how I feel about it, I definitely could sit at home relaxing all day but sure where would that get me.

Waves to everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying the Jubilee break.

KurriKurri · 05/06/2012 11:54

Just dashing in, - my shoulder is being an absolute pain and I can't sit at the computer long - too uncomfortable.

Just want to wish T bon voyage MAS, and hope he has a fabulous time Smile

Aeros are good for you its a fact (amber may have some stats Grin)

Greylady - gc sound sweet Smile

I hope everyone who had street parties and other jubilee celebrations going on had a good time, and the weather held out reasonably well.

DH has tonsillitis too gracie, - self Dx from google! His mole turned out to be nothing to worry about, but GP was very good and showed him lots of pics of what to look out for, checked him all over and told him which of his moles were the ones to watch.

He is I think depressed and stressed atm, - but of course won't go to the doc about it. Had a long heart to heart a couple of days ago, and he admitted he hates his work (for various reasons), and is feeling pretty fed up. (His boss is a nasty bullying bastard, who was singularly unpleasant when I was ill Sad)

Anyway love to all - will pop on and off, but can't hang around because of pesky shoulder. Grrr.

xx

Tried in vain to find a clip online of gig's stepdad's impressive barge parking skills. Fell asleep during the concert last night and missed last 1 1/2 hours, so seeking out a clip of that. Was pleased to see sun shining yesterday for 'oldies' outdoor (always a bit of a risk in these parts) tea party down at community campus - I think it's for all residents of local care homes and people at day centres. And then I've listened to service at St Paul's on R4 this AM. I like the music and seeing all the outfits (tho they don't show them on radio). We are a weird TV free zone here, hence listening to radio and searching for online clips. Not to mention HUGE DVD collection - dvds are normal size, just the collection that's big!! And I feel sorry for the old duke with his UTI. Next I'll be putting a union flag up the neighbour's pole. Oh dear, the family will disown me.

So where's a good place to get (quality) choc mousse in the UK? See wot gig has made me do?! Craving chocolat here, but French France not that handy. Zut alors indeed!

Your maj, the boy will be fine, even if you've forgotten anything. i hope you enjoy the week he is away. It will be really weird for you all. i can still recall first time eldest was away from us for a week. Weirdly quiet.

I think I have to take ds4 to art class today. DH is making noises (about doing it - he is looking after my fatigue levels, sweet man) but he is doing DIY on house, and I should make the effort.

Adieu, tout le monde!!

Baskets45 · 05/06/2012 12:00

Just to say, choc with mint a very tasty (and therapeutic) combination IMO. Choc chip ice cream another one i like, esp if shops all sell out of Mint Aero because of extra demand across the water in NI.

graciesmall09 · 05/06/2012 12:20

kurri really hope your shoulder eases soon. I have had long standing back/neck/shoulder problems and sitting at a computer makes it so much worse. All my pains have been very settled since being off work but I feel your pain and hope you get ease soon. Poor DH, nothing worse than being in a job where you aren't happy and even worse if your boss in an ass horrid person.

Baskets No advice on chocolate mousse but if you find one throw it across the Irish sea and I'll test it for you. Probably to get a really nice one you might need to make your own. No hoisting flags on neighbours poles please as we don't want to have to bail you out for trespassing.

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 12:55

My friend used to make chocolate pots - think whipped double cream combined with good quality dark chocolate. mmmm.

Hope your shoulder and dh feel better soon, kk

Must dash out and buy chocolate... And make buns - volunteered to make Mrs nextdoor some buns - it's Mr nextdoor's 80th birthday tomorrow :)

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2012 14:12

T has gone !! he did allow me to hug and kiss him and hopped happily into the coach- bit of waiting for everyone else, then off they went,so should be at Heathrow now having some lunch. Feels weird !
Glad dh's mole is ok kk but sorry about your shoulder.
Love to all xxx

amberlight · 05/06/2012 17:42

www.facts-about-chocolate.com/health-benefits-of-chocolate/

Why yes, it is well known in research that chocolate is a good healthfood. Almost 100% of people who eat a bar of it are still definitely alive for the next hour, and often with a big smile on their faces.

HRHMAS, yup, v weird when they're missing for a while.

topsyturner · 05/06/2012 17:55

I am sure he will be fine your maj , doesn't mean you aren't entitled to a few stifled sobs though !

Amber I bloody love you ! Grin

I have spent the afternoon trying to gut DDs bedroom ... shudder !
Whilst cleaning out 3 small drawers I managed to gather 1 bin liner and 2 carrier bags full of crap !
How the hell does she manage it ???

I also emptied out her wardrobe .
Ashamed to say my 9 year old daughter had clothes aged 6 in there !

My name is Topsy and I am a slattern !

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 05/06/2012 18:45

topsy ds still has 12 year olds stuff in his drawers and wardrobe ! (there are definitely a few things even younger but I like them too much to part with)

jchocchip · 05/06/2012 19:14

well done topsy I'm not very good at clearing out :(
Making strawberry jam here - love the smell :) House needs cleaning but that is no fun, it would only get dusty again!

OneInEight · 05/06/2012 20:01

Champagne on offer on the FBS trolley in celebration of my last chemo. Yes, I know I've still got the side effects to go through but it still feels great to have had the last dose. Haven't been posting much lately but still reading and thinking of you all. By the way for those who haven;'t started the docetaxol yet is to use a dark nail varnish to stop the light getting through as that helps preserve your nails apparently - pity they didn't tell me earlier but thought I would pass it on.

Baskets45 · 05/06/2012 20:11

So there I was gadding down the high street in Perth (Scotland's answer to Paris NOT, just I noted today there are 2 letters in common which seems to be the only link really, but a girl likes to dream) and I fell in the door of Thornton's. So on the trolley you'll find some Continental chocs, not as many as there might have been if I hadn't troughed a good few myself, but enough for you all to have a couple each should you so wish. Then I come on here and feel much better on seeing Amber has performed her statistical magic yet again. My life is complete - all i need is to sneak up on ds3 and if he isn't actually revising I'll get him to collect ds2 from youf club. Which means I can head for bed soon-ish.

My ds4 has a similarly 'afflicted' wardrobe problem. I need a few days at home just to blitz his stuff and mine. TBH everyone needs their stuff cleared out. And only i seem able to do so; and I'm really very bad at it. DS4, for a while, refused to wear anything that didn't have the right age on the label. That didn't mean it got cleared out, just that it took up space and didn't get used ..... I have cleared stuff lately, but there just is so much of it I seem to get nowhere. Must try harder.

Jchoc - You must be, with a user name like that, our res expert on chocchip goods. I can never decide, if having a dust allergy, I'd be better leaving the stuff or dusting daily. Guess which I prefer .....

topsyturner · 05/06/2012 20:13

Congratulations 1in8 !
Takes bottle glass of champers .
Thanks for the nail tip , I am starting dox soon so all tips welcome !

Am in my neighbours house with a colour stripper on my head .
Hair dye today sent me a little more ginger than I wanted !
So we are attempting to strip the ginge and go honey blonde instead .
I shall photograph the stages and stick it on Facebook if anyone wants a laugh Grin

Baskets45 · 05/06/2012 20:14

BIG NEWS!! Nearly forgot that was my point in signing in 2night. The neighbour, since yesterday, has had a union flag up his flagpole. So that'll save me bothering. It also means I'm not very observant and/or wasn't out at washing line yesterday. So there.

All the best, everyone.
