KurriKurri · 30/05/2012 18:33

Thank you Elibean Grin - good to know I'm a proper driver now (driving into a table is pretty impressive though - don't know if I'll ever reach those dizzy heights!)

Sometimes have a good day tomorrow, don't overdo things. - It's still boiling here, maybe the rain will hit us tomorrow.

smee · 30/05/2012 18:34

Caught, that's fantastic. We love good news on here. Go celebrate. Smile Smile

Elibean, we never mind you joining us. Driving into a table's v.funny. Grin

Sometimes, surely now you're tall enough to clear the guttering? Grin

No news from Gracie or Fluffy?? Or Topsy even. Are you all okay?

Snoopy, have been wondering about you too. How are you feeling now?

Autumn, really good luck for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you x

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 30/05/2012 18:38

ahem ^^^^

NedSchneebly · 30/05/2012 18:44

Love it, Your High Queenliness! Grin

KurriKurri · 30/05/2012 18:56

topsyturner · 30/05/2012 21:00

Caught that's great news !
Party time in your house ?

Nurses think it might be a pressure sore from the dressings .
Meant to be seeing consultant tomorrow , but no appointment arrived in post and couldn't get any response on the phone from her secretary .
Will keep trying in the morning .

Watching perving over Laurence Fox Lewis , and trying really hard to think of my jubilee name Grin

Gigondas · 30/05/2012 21:08

Envy we can't get Lewis here so had to watch old version (it was that or handball...).

Some very stinky cheese on fbs and baguette .

Kurri- getting back to driving the right thing to do.

Sometimes good luck tomorrow.

Autumn- candle burning bright here in french France. In fact the Eiffel tower is twinkling brightly for anyone who needs it as I type (it is so pretty lit up at night).

jchocchip · 30/05/2012 21:28

Good news caught phew what a relief Wine time!

Waa missed most of Lewis. nvm. dd1's 18th birthday today but as she has an exam tomorrow celebrations muted - nice jelly and ice cream though :)
Just had rather a lot of rain! One of dh's butts was nearly empty, but they are both full now. Just saw the audi advert with the swans, sweet!

jchocchip · 30/05/2012 21:34

And our guttering still leaks...

NedSchneebly · 30/05/2012 21:37

Now butt is very definitely a rude word, jchoc. . . Wink

smee · 30/05/2012 21:41

MAS, as Queen you have to hold Garden Parties don't you?? Grin

What's this Lewis then?? Am I missing out?

topsyturner · 30/05/2012 21:56

Smee hasnt heard of Lewis ?

It's Morses old side kick in his own series , which I only watch for perving rights over Laurence Fox ...

smee · 30/05/2012 22:39

That sounds vaguely familiar. Is Laurence Fox the one who married Billie Piper? He always looks a bit lizard-like to me.

MJennieJ · 30/05/2012 22:39

Hi everyone just found this incredibly supportive thread. Am in a a horrible waiting time got BC diagnosis 2 weeks ago after biopsies showed 2 small lumps plus 1 odd lymph node now having repeat tests and waiting for an mri before they decide how to treat. Meanwhile am on tamoxifen. It's not the concern about me that's doing my head in as I'm sure it'll all be fine it's the flipping worry about how I'm going to cope if all this treatment takes place in my kids summer holidays. And...we've got loads of olympic tickets and I really want to go boo too.....self pity beginning to creep in! sure this is all v minor compared to many thanks for listening x

KurriKurri · 30/05/2012 23:33

Don't diss the Fox Smee (get me with my street talk Grin)

Gig I lurve stinky cheese, I can smell it from here.

Hello Jennie - so sorry you've been diagnosed with BC, - it's always a shock to the system, and takes a bit of time to get your head round.

Its very natural to worry about how you will cope with treatment, and the honest answer is that no one can really tell you. Partly it depends on what treatment you have, - do you have any idea yet? Surgery will take you a couple of weeks to get over (assuming all goes well, no infections etc.) chemo affects people differently some people are more unwell on it than others. But with most people there is a period towards the end of the chemo cycle (i.e. in the week before you have the next dose) when you start to pick up and feel more normal again.

I wouldn't rule anything out just yet, - you may very well be able to go to the Olympics as planned, - some people manage to work during chemo and cope well. Its all a bit suck it and see I'm afraid - which probably doesn't help you much, but hopefully you won't have to abandon all your plans for the summer, - maybe adjust them on occasion. Smile

My tip would be to accept any help that is offered, so if people will have your children to play for the day, jump at the chance - its always good to get rest when you can.

Anyway, I'm sure others will be along soon with tips and advice. You are very welcome here and I hope you'll find we can support you through all this Smile xx

jchocchip · 30/05/2012 23:43

Hi MJennieJ waiting is horrible. It's all the ifs and buts and maybes that do it. Treatment is very doable - some people manage to work through some of it so the odd session at the olympics maybe could be worked around... I escaped lightly with lumpectomy and radiotherapy and found them very flexible with times of treatment if that helps. How old are your children?

ned its only a rude word if you think it is. What else should I call our roof water receptacles?

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 31/05/2012 07:40

MJennieJ welcome and sorry to hear that you are waiting anxiously for results- not fun at all...don't panic too much about treatment and fitting it around summer stuff, things seem to be fairly flexible -best thing is to do one step at a time rather than fretting about the what ifs - (I am always guilty of getting ahead of myself) Stick with us Smile
topsy hope wound is ok xxx
jane happy bday to dd and hope exam goes well- loved the look of the ice cream sundaes and green cake !
Bonjour to gig
And yes, Tamoxifen Royal Garden party this weekend...

topsyturner · 31/05/2012 07:47

Morning All

Welcome Jennie .
I think with your attitude to this bastard cancer , you are not going to have many problems doing the things you want to do !
As the others have said , you have to get the first chemo under your belt to see how your body copes with it .
Keep posting , and anything we can help with , we will !

Guess what ???
I just won the lottery !!!!!
£57 of your whole English pounds , thank you very much Grin
Now that's a great start to a very soggy Thursday .

Candle lit for results today .
Bonjour to French France .
How's Gracie today ? Hoping the driver is doing its job for you .

topsyturner · 31/05/2012 07:48

And Jane , Happy Birthday to DD .
I too am in awe of the green cake and sundaes !

topsyturner · 31/05/2012 07:49

Me again !

Do we need hats for the garden party mas ???
I tend to look like Paddington when I wear a hat ...

EarthMotherImNot · 31/05/2012 07:51

Blush hi everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL, been having a stinker of a time. They have discovered I have severe osteoporosis as well as some un-named problem with my liver and possibly a blocked bile duct.

Surgeon wants to reconstruct 2 weeks today with a latimuss dorsai (sp) operation. He then, when I recover, wants to remove my remaining breast (the one I begged him to remove at the same time as my first op and he said noAngry becuse apparently it would be too difficult to reduce as its saggy and really just an empty shell.

Please tell me there is a light at the end of this never ending bloody tunnel.

Self pity rant done!!! Smile

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 31/05/2012 09:46

hugs (((((((((((())))))))))))))))) for earth - it must seem like a buggeringly long tunnel for you, but you will get through it.
Well done to topsy !!
Hats definitely for the garden party...

Sometimesiwonder · 31/05/2012 09:48

Oh Earth, huge hugs. There is light. Just keep creeping forwards, and vent here in the meantime. Will be away today but am thinking of you. x

MJennieJ welcome from me. All I can say is, try not to get too far ahead of yourself and worry about things all in one go that will actually happen in little bites. You do seem to have a great attitude! It is all very suck it and see, but you will probably find that you can do at least some of the stuff that matters and that you are looking forward to. Real life does have a way of carrying on alongside the crap stuff, we'd all have gone mad otherwise. Hugs to you, too.

Topsy - Envy £57! Of course it's the rules that windfalls like this have to be spent entirely frivolously......

I'm with Smee - Lawrence Fox looks like a lizard. A very tall lizard.

Talking of tall - i suppose I probably can clear the guttering myself now I have got so tall and straight. Empire State Human! (for anyone old enough to remember that particular classic, which I am Hmm)

off out shortly. Have a good day all! x

Sometimesiwonder · 31/05/2012 09:49
smee · 31/05/2012 09:51

Blimey Earth, that is a lot to get through. There is light and seriously you will find it. Get through that op, then summer will float in and warm your bones. Smile

Welcome to MJennie, though obviously sorry you're here too. Self pity totally valid I reckon. Sod of a situation to find yourself in. Think Kurri's right, as it's kind of individual. Once you know what's next, you'll feel better and then you can plot out your diary in terms of treatment and what's next. You might well be fine for Olympics. Are you London based?? If so that'll help. If you have chemo, you soon get to know which are your down days each cycle and other days you can usually get on with life pretty well. Mine was over school summer holidays, but I still went camping, swam in the sea. Was all vaguely normal in lots of ways. Not saying it's a walk in the park, but it's doable for most of us.

Autumn's results today. Hope she'll be okay.

Hope Gracie's okay and that driver's working well.

Still no news from Snoopy either. Bit worried she might be suffering side effects. Hope not though.

Ned how are you today?? Hope you've got those neutrophils zooming back up.

On the positive front, yay for Topsy's win. What you getting us? Grin And how's the wound today then? Hope firmly stapled in place??

Happy b'day to Jane's dd. Jelly and ice cream sounds good. Is she having a party once exams are over? Smile

Garden Party Hats. I only have Beanies.. I could lace a rose or two round the edge maybe?

DS off on a trip to the local park today to look at a river. Apparently they won't be allowed to touch the river, just look at it. Grin
