yikes- here we go...

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 24/04/2012 16:00

Thanks amber. I think I need to start looking into a suitable diet for a triple positive result then as I intend to do everything I can to keep this thing at bay.

SparkleRainbow · 24/04/2012 16:04

Oh Kurri - it is so disappointing for you. You can join me on the slow slog to weight loss if you feel up to it....At xmas I set myself a target for my next rheumies appt, which is in two weeks time now and have only lost that little bit a celebrated on here before...it is very very demoralising I know. Good thing about the fbs trolley is if you keep it virtual you can indulge! Hope lady dog is ok, ear infections are horrid for them, can make them off balance too.

Gracie that diet does not sound good for your friend, that is what worries me about some of these diets and dieting organisations, they are not as holistic as they think, or as they say. I am glad your boss is being supportive, hpefully you will be able to get some positive support from benefits too!!!!!

Sometimes - Your dd is just lovely Grin at her sitting elsewhere to show her displeasure and express solidarity....I know she gets that from her mum.

smee · 24/04/2012 16:07

Heck Kurri, how annoying. How much do you have to lose? Will throw some nice corn cakes onto the fb trolley for you. Hope poor lady dog's ear infection is sorted soon.

Gracie, yes Amber's right - be insane to eat a diet which raises oestrogen if you're hormone positive. Avoid Soy, as it can stimulate Oestrogen. Bit of a sod, but probably sensible! Am sure someone will arrive with a more definitive list soon. Advice about Macmillan's sound - they're definitely worth a ring.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/04/2012 16:16

oh kk that is disappointing that you have to wait longer Sad -bah !
Hooray for gig's rads tomorrow... and how lovely to hear about these clever readers and proud-making children-and song lyricists !
Dad has gone to London today but his meeting over ran so he asked me to make sure mum was ok- which she was- sitting reading.I made her a cup of tea and left her a plate of brioche and biscuits- dad back at a bit before 5.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/04/2012 16:18

Gigondas · 24/04/2012 16:18

Ladies do you want me to ask my nutritionist about hormone positive cancers and diet when I see her next week?

There is a lot in her book Gracie but her basic suggestions are quite mumsy. Try to eat what you can tolerate and a mix . Cooked fruit or veg, softer foods. She also suggests tracking when you feel worse as may need to eat at those times If it helps beat nausea.

She is big on protein and trying to eat that (not carbs) is important(it is the single biggest change I have made and has done wonders for my energy levels).

She also suggests adding yoghurt, cream , grated cheese to soups , purees or whatever you can stomach to boost calorie count (thick butter on bread is suggested if you can tolerate nothing else and your egg and sausage roll is good as lots of protein).

amberlight · 24/04/2012 16:50

Gig, yes please.
KK, argh re the weight loss thingy.

Hmm, I'm sometimes better at facts than saying supportive things on here, aren't I? Blush Ruddy autism. It hates words-only environments and fights me.

graciesmall09 · 24/04/2012 16:57

Yes please gigs that would be great, if you wouldn't mind.

amber facts are fab and totally what I needed to hear.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/04/2012 17:00

we like facts amber !
I've just eaten a Star Bar and it was bloody lovely...

OP posts:
topsyturner · 24/04/2012 17:42

Gawd you guys have been active on here today ! Can't keep up .

Amber your facts are great , we don't need someone pussy footing around us . Sometimes you just need the facts !

Will go back and catch up with all the posts now but just wanted to send quick good luck wishes to gig for her scan thus evening .

And have been giggling away at the thought of pig/dog and pirate dog joining forces for a raid on my lasagne Grin

smee · 24/04/2012 17:54

I love your facts too, Amber. Smile

Yay for Rads starting Gig, though I am thinking of you right now, doubtless sat in the waiting room for your scan. xx

Star Bar?? I have never had one.

KurriKurri · 24/04/2012 17:54

bugger - lost my post again, - so quick post as am off out again in a minute.

amber - facts are good - you are very well informed - you put me to shame Smile - I also think you are pretty good at supporting people too Smile

Old lady dog has drops and tablets - and an appointment for a weeks time - £75 ShockShock

I have to lose between one and a half and two stone, - she's given me nine months because she said she appreciates how hard it is with thyroid probs. And of course its for my own safety - its a big long op, using part of my stomach, - about 10 hours under GA, so she wants to minimise all risks.
Just not much fun being told you are a fatty by a very very beautiful glamorous successful woman this is my surgeon - doesn't it just make you spit? Grin

lovely to hear about all the kind and talented children - it must be down to their fabulous mums Smile

any advice about healthy eating and nutrition gratefully received Gig, and good luck for your appointment.

Love to all, will log on later - I off out to an art evening - demonstration of how to do stained glass windows - sounds fun.

xx

SparkleRainbow · 24/04/2012 17:58

I wouldn't worry too much about catching up on the posts topsy....much of it is my inane drivel.

Amber - will you stop beating yourself up. Facts are very helpful and much needed, and you are always very supportive. I would never ever have realised you have autism if you hadn't told us.....so you are beating it in any fight.

Gigondas · 24/04/2012 18:05

Amber- I love your posts. You are my reassurance and I don't even have bc.

Waiting for scan. Did you know more people have tagged on FB that they are at a nearby lap dancing bar than at this hospital . Shall I post that in feminism to see what reaction I get ?

Topsy- did your dh get any dinner after pig dog's help? Our dog once upended a roast chicken that was resting on the counter over herself (fortunately it wasn't too hot). It's no joke Getting cooking fat out of fur so I hope pig dog and pirate don't get ideas.

topsyturner · 24/04/2012 18:05

kk don't like your surgeon , not at all Envy of her good looks ...
Think my surgeon will say the same thing about weight loss to me before she will do my recon .
I too have many 1 or 2 stone to lose .

amberlight · 24/04/2012 18:07

KK, apparently sugar is absolutely vital in losing weight. Do you have sugar in drinks like tea and coffee? If not, do. Seriously - glucose is what powers the willpower bit of the brain. If the level drops, the brain HAS to make itself eat something and forgets to do portion control. New research recently. Worth a go. Well, that, and eating healthily of course Smile

I might try it too Hmm [notes that she's not a size 10-12]

Gigondas · 24/04/2012 18:09

Yes kk - grrr about surgeon. And after all that hassle too

SparkleRainbow · 24/04/2012 18:12

In her earlier years pirate dog has already eaten a roast chicken carcass, an entire chocolate sponge cake, my mum's lunch, my FIL dinner and licked a little boys lolly as my mum walked her and toddler ds down the street,.....believe me she was born with the idea....probably only tramadol and a huge lampshade collar that is
preventing her from finding where the newly made birthday cake smell is coming from!

I too must lose 1 to 1/2 stone....well I would settle for 1, heck I would settle for 1/2 at this point. Despite my best efforts I put 1/2 stone on per baby....... We are in this together.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/04/2012 19:12

crikey, surgeon is very glam...
My parents diabetic cat is very skilled in food stealing - anything at all is fair game..dad had to prise a huge lump of butter from his jaws.
amber is a fount of information and we wouldn't be without her.
Am waiting for someone to send me reference for a card, not managing to get to grips with anything else though. Perhaps will meditate.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 24/04/2012 19:57

I missed kurri's post with the surgeon link.....I wish I had ever looked as glam as that....that plus being a bit pale, blue eyed and blonde (ish) I don't think i could ever pull off the glam look.

SparkleRainbow · 24/04/2012 20:02

Am going to sign off now, got presents to wrap, a cake to ice...ds is very excited in bed! Got to feed the animal crew and dh when he gets back later, so better move my ambple rear end from the chair beside the fbs trolley paranoia boxes and get on. Love to all, I do hope you are all right gig. 'til tomorrow.

graciesmall09 · 24/04/2012 20:25

Hope your appointment went well gigs.

sparkle hope birthday goes well and you get DS to sleep.

Envy kurri your surgeon probably lives on a lettuce leaf a day.

Gigondas · 24/04/2012 20:37

Appointment done - was me and two 70 something's which added to my general sense of stress. They also struggled to put the cannula in which was nice. Feel done in now but mum coming with me to rads.

Very tired and got headache from dye so fbs time for me. I will offer to take what pig dog doesn't want (obviously not if he licks it) in interest of any diets.

kk she is most glam ,your surgeon.

graciesmall09 · 24/04/2012 21:10

gigs Glad your appointment is over although grr for the trouble with the cannula. Snack away at the trolley, I've been grazing all day so you can have some of my share.

Gigondas · 24/04/2012 22:11

Thanks for all support an good wishes . I cannot tell you how much it means.

And as we have had glam lady photos today here is something for the ladies (ESP topsy ) as so many of us have appts or are having a rough week.
