Oh shit. Found a lump in breast, need some hand holding, please

Made an appointment to see doctor tomorrow.

I have a somewhat lumpy breasts, in a past docs sent me for ultrasound a couple of times, each time it turned out to be either a lymph node that was positioned unusually low or last time 2 inflamed nodes....anyhow I had felt two small lumps on the side of breast for some time, but as they were small and smooth and movable and I had an ultrasound only 18 months ago I thought I'll just wait and see Hmm

So last night I found one one the inside of the breast iyswim, doesn't move much and seems irregular. Doesn't have anything similar on the other breast.

I'm 31. I know no one can diagnose on the net, just need some hand holding.

Poor you. I won't say don't worry as you are bound to, but you have done the best thing by getting a trip to the Dr tomorrow, and s/he will either refer you or let you know that it is OK.

Cancer is much less likely at your age, so try not to torment yourself. I will be on and off all day for handholding purposes. Take care.

miine turned out to be nothing, was called back twice cos they couldn't see properly on ifrst
Keep calm and think positive
Chances are it'll be fine..have you told your partner?

I was just thinking about a firne do mine yesterday who had a lump and it turned out to be nothing to worry about. i had a lump that was just a pus filled infection that was apirated and sorted.

It's very unlikely to be anything sinister but of course yo are concerned and the docs will sort it out for you, whatever it is.

What are your plans for today? Can you busy yourself with activity to make the time go faster and occupy your mind? Do you have someone you can offload your anxiety with?

I've had much the same and was checked thoroughly but it turned out to be inflamed and large glands. Great that you are clearly checking yourself regularly by the way. Hang in there!

No, Rockin, it's not painful.

Because the area that concerned the doctors before were around the armpits and because I have lots of small lumps around there I only gave a perfunctory self-exam to the rest of the breasts few timwes in the past and so I could have missed this bugger iyswim.

I know that life is a terminal disease etc etc but I have two children, DD is only 2 Sad

Will not panic, will not panic.

Sorry, what I meant in my OP was that this lump is on the inside i.e. not on the armpit side iyswim.

And no, I haven't told DP yet, he's working on a shoot today and I don't want to worry him- but then he'll need to stay with DD tomorrow. Ok, will call him.

Chess-it's 35 degrees here today, so I'll probably stay in with DD and have a parents reunion at the creche in the afternoon.

God, it's stressful, I've just planned my funeral while taking shower Hmm And ob viously have been obsessively touching my breasts and finding lots more lumps and thickenings Hmm

I am not sure if I am in denial or not as I have been worried before but there is still a bit of me that thinks I have something bad with the way my life has been lately.

Good luck - thinking of you. You are doing the right thing getting it all checked out. I have had a few scares in the last few years and they have all been OK. Cysts or abscesses. I just want to say that I know that dizzy panic feeling while you are waiting for your appointment.

TBH I am feeling a bit stupid now as there isn't a lump to feel, it just feels like there is a marble in my breast iyswim. I have also had burning feeling behind the nipple, and itching and aching as well as discomfort.

Thanks, saffron. I know, I was a bit panicky last time I the doc sent me for a scan but at the same time the lump (which turned out to be a gland) didn't feel really threatening iyswim, and this one feels nasty somehow.

Otoh I have been ill for 3 weeks with a monster of a cold so it could be enlarged gland? I seem prone to those. But it's quite irregular...

Anyhow, I fully expect the doctor to refer me for a scan (they always seem to do that) so my worry won't be over tomorrow anyway.

Horrid, horrid time to go through. Been there several times, and was checked last week for something very very similar to yours, FAB (there was a simple explanation and nothing nasty, btw!).

Hand reaching out and luck and most of all, pleasant distractions to make time pass more quickly till that peace of mind gets reached.

hi- here's my hand to hold too,both of you...first up,try not to panic and don't google anything. It is unlikely to be anything worrying and your doc will have a good idea about whether it needs referring to the breast clinic. Even then many lumps are discovered to be harmless cysts,glands etc. It is very difficult to deal with the not knowing bit and sometimes it does drag on for a few weeks while everything is investigated. If you do get referred you'll probably have an ultrasound and possibly a biopsy.

Please don't panic. I've had several lumps and bumps and have to admit the first time I found one I'd practically written my funeral service, arranged who was going to care for the children and written a will.

I have what is called "lumpy breasts" - charming eh? Tis very common and so far, I've had 4 investigated with nothing further required. They are quick and kind both at the gp and the clinic and will sort you out as soon as they can.

Try not to think too far ahead, and may be take someone with you to listen - when I went on my own it went in one ear and out the other, but the nurse stayed and wrote down exactly what the consultant had said so I'd got the right info.

There are lots of more experienced people here, but please at this stage try to be calm. Good luck.

It is hard to explain. When not touching my breast it feels that there is a marble inside. When I examine my breast there isn't a lump. One breast is larger and more nodular that the other and I did have a lump in there before which was thought to have been a milk duct from having my baby 2 years before.
