Made an appointment to see doctor tomorrow.

I have a somewhat lumpy breasts, in a past docs sent me for ultrasound a couple of times, each time it turned out to be either a lymph node that was positioned unusually low or last time 2 inflamed nodes....anyhow I had felt two small lumps on the side of breast for some time, but as they were small and smooth and movable and I had an ultrasound only 18 months ago I thought I'll just wait and see Hmm

So last night I found one one the inside of the breast iyswim, doesn't move much and seems irregular. Doesn't have anything similar on the other breast.

I'm 31. I know no one can diagnose on the net, just need some hand holding.

I should try not to keep touching as you'll make yourself sore and imagine all sorts of things are there-will be thinking of you tomorrowx

Elibean · 27/06/2011 19:22

FAB, mine felt just like that too - as though there were something hard and painful in there. No lump to be felt. Amazing what nerve endings can do! I also found it painful to lean forward (when the breast tissue pulls away from chest wall). Actually, it still IS painful - sometimes itchy or tingly, sometimes just achy, sometimes sharp.

In my case, its probably caused by a combination of minor medications that have conspired to cause breast pain.
In yours, it could well be hormones, trapped nerves, or something that is never explained.

Nonetheless, you need proper peace of mind and a good check up, so you are doing all the right things Smile

TheOriginalFAB · 27/06/2011 19:27

I am not examining myself daily. Just get DH to a couple of times a week or when I am worried. I also couldn't lie on it last week.

BoffinMum · 27/06/2011 19:37

I've had soooooooo many lumps and they were all fine. As I pointed out to the doctor 20 years after the first one, the docs were probably right or I would have snuffed it by now. Please don't worry until you have something more to worry about - all you have at the moment is an indication it's sensible to go to the doctor, which you are doing.

winnybella · 27/06/2011 19:42

Boffin- yes, I know...just that this one feels quite uneven, with edges iyswim. But I'm not panicking yet. No, no. Ahem.

TheOriginalFAB · 28/06/2011 07:48

Good luck Winny.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/06/2011 08:39

Good luck. I am another waiting for my appt. Next Tuesday I am going to see the top tit man in Flanders for some sort of biopsy.
Second to top tit man found what appears on ultrasound to be a slug living in my right breast. I find Wine helps.

ggirl · 28/06/2011 08:58

Lol at your slug kreecher- hope all turns out well for you.
Fab and winny thinking of you ..and a thank you for reminding me to examine myself.
I know the horrid feeling of uncertainty and dread..and yes wine does help Grin
chin up girls !!!!!

winnybella · 28/06/2011 09:39

Thanks all. Good luck, Fab.

I saw your thread, kreecher- the thing to remember is that lots of women have biopsies and get all clear. Hope it'll be all good.

Having a Brew and will be off shortly. Will update but I'm pretty sure I'll be send off for a scan etc as that's what they do here unless they can be 100% sure it's nothing sinister.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/06/2011 09:47

Hope it all goes well winny.
The waiting is definitely the worst part. Currently I am veering between thinking I shouldn't drink the red wine because I think it will feed my slug, and then thinking bollocks to it.

winnybella · 28/06/2011 09:53

yy to wondering whether to drink or not, but then I feel I've already drunk so much in the course of my life a Wine or two won't make the difference...

Not sure if it will help but 6 weeks ago I also found a lump in my breast. I was inclined to ignore it but didn't and went to the doctor who then referred me to hospital (very quickly but then with all breast lumps it is fast). Within 3 weeks I had been diagnosed with early breast cancer and 2 weeks later had my operation to remove it. Yesterday I was told it has all been successful and everything has been removed that needs to be taken away.

I'm currently waiting to find out what further therapy I need (radio/chemo or hormones).

While the waiting did feel long at the time, I now know that I have been treated very quickly and efficiently and feel very relieved that I went to the doctor when I did. All the doctors have been open with me and my experience is that they absolutely know what they are doing.

If it does turn out that you get news that you don't want to hear, if your experience is anything like mine you will have all the information and help that you need to help you cope with what comes.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/06/2011 10:39

absolutely agree with shormal - that was my experience too - the waiting is a awful, the not knowing horrid but if it is anything you'll be very well taken care of and swiftly on the treatment path which is doable,I promise.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/06/2011 10:40

shoormal if you want to join tamoxifen thread you are more than welcome !

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/06/2011 10:41

and winny- everyone on the tamoxifen thread agrees that Wine is essential Grin

winnybella · 28/06/2011 13:10

Right, so I went to see the doctor. I whipped out my breasts at which he looked a tad uncomfortable Hmm, he had a 1-sec feel of the lump (not sure he actually felt the right one), didn't ask to feel the others, and said cheerfully "You need a mammography and ultrasound'.

I called the scan centre and have an appointment on Friday afternoon.

So exactly what I thought would happen.

Thanks shoo and MaryAnn- have to run- DD's calling me.

superv1xen · 28/06/2011 14:13

topsyturner · 28/06/2011 14:20

Fingers crossed for Friday winny .

LizaTarbucksAuntie · 28/06/2011 14:23

First step is the tough one I reckon...now you're sort of in the system iyswim?
That's the bit you have to take responsibility for.

But bloody well done and I'll continue to hold your hand and bake these lemony muffins while I'm waiting.

Good luck hope the times goes fast

winnybella · 28/06/2011 14:31

Lemony mufins, eh? Don't suppose you would kindly share the recipe? Smile

Thanks all. It very well could be nothing at all, but of course one (well, me) is bound to imagine the worst i.e. remembering all the tragic stories from the media of people dying 2 weeks after diagnosis. Which is stupid, because, after all, we could all just drop down dead any moment from aunerysm or something.

Umm, sorry, I'm not being cheerful here, am I?

More importantly, how did it go Fab?

OP posts:
kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/06/2011 14:32

Well done winny. I'd much rather whip my tits out than get my banjo out. I am always afraid I've left a bit of toilet roll in my bum. When I was a nurse on a gynae ward a long time ago, I used to chuckle at the andrex left on peoples ring pieces.
I am so paranoid that there will be flakes of shart that I tend to give it a good polish thus increasing the posibility of a decorated bum hole.
Good luck for Friday.
