Hello ladies, I hope you find this, I don't want to lose my pre-op and post-op buddies!!

Loads of luck for Monday, Jodichloe, really hope the op solves your problems as it sounds as if you're having a tough time.

Likeavirgin · 09/07/2011 15:56

I everyone, I thought that I posted after my drs appt., but I can't find it here. What i was told is that everything is healed and stitches are gone. All the repairs worked and besides my low hemoglobin, I am great. I have been given the go ahead for sex, so my husband and I tried that night. It is tight even after all the stretching. The trouble is when there is movement and the penis runs along the posterior vaginal wall, it hurts and I just can't stand it. It is like it hits a nerve and it kind of burns ro feels like a pinching/stabbing sensation. I have my period now, so we will wait a bit and try again.

Good luck to those ladies going in or seeking consultation. Talk to you all soon.

Smile Have a great weekend!

Hi all, still not well, started to get the cold/stomach bug thing on Wed. that seems to be going around at the minute, thought the nausea was down to the anti-bios but I dont usually get it with them. Talk about a triple whammy, Ive seriously had enough now. Been one miserable bunny. I really did feel better 2 hours after the op than I do now!
I havent had a cold for about 3 years, a strong immune system but now it seems to be well and truly compromised. Easing off a little today, had lots of washing to do which Ive spread throughout the day as I felt very hot. My oldest has gone back home and Im now 9 days post op. The urine infection seems to be ok, but had pelvic infection previous to op and Im sure its back, have pains, so must see doc soon.
The bleeding is on and off, It quickly settled to watery and pink, could use just liners for several days, then went bright red again, sometimes with clots, now its brown ish and had to go back to night time pads, (how DO we know if its a period or not?!)
The stitches seem to go ALL the way up! The good thing is my uterus seems to be higher, but that could be swelling I suppose, also I havent leaked urine once with all this recent sneezing. Time will tell I guess.
Question: when, On average, do you start to see stitches fall out?

Jodichloe: Hope everything goes well for you on Monday.
Likeavirgin: Thanks for the info. I had thought that they were one and the same thing, but with 2 different names, I would give it a go next time.

Ive had chronic diarrhoea for about 3 years with some incontinence originally diagnosed as IBS but was referred for further investigations which is still ongoing. I also have to take Immodium on a regular basis, Ive needed it today for first time since op but Im kinda reluctant..the Lactulose has been put away in the cupboard as Ive sorta gone back to "normal."

Jannie49 · 10/07/2011 16:51

Feel much better today, DID have to take Imodium, was getting a tad sore, not good, now I need a nicewww.mumsnet.com/te/brew.gif

That should have the little mug of tea icon. Ive ended up with text! Cant for the life of me work out how to put one on, I clicked, didnt work, so dragged it, result above. Help!!
Also is there no way to edit/delete own posts, would be a lot easier.

jewellerymum · 10/07/2011 21:05

Hey Jannie - for any of the icons below, you need to type whatever is after the word you want to use, i.e for the cup of tea you type the word brew but with box brackets[ ] around the word like this (but without the space between word and bracket [ brew ] gives you Brew

and put an asterix either side of the word you want bold* (no spaces), underline put _ either side, italics is a ^ either side etc.
For all icons like Smile copy what is says after the icon including the brackets. Hope this helps, I am useless at explaining things!!! Blush

Likeavirgin · 11/07/2011 02:31

Hi Ladies Smile
Jannie49 So sorry to hear of all your troubles. Being sick is just awful. Just rest up and take it easy and get yourself back on the mend. Of your questions,
I could certainly tell the difference between my period and the blood from the surgery. I hardly had any bleeding at all with surgery afterwards, My period is just like a butchering, so much blood. My stitches also went all the way to the top on the posterior and anterior wall. The swelling subsided after 2 weeks and then just got better daily from there. My stitches started to fall out at around 4-5 weeks. I didn't notice them all as they were white and difficult to see on toilet paper or in the toilet.

I tried tap dancing today for the first time since op and happy to report that I had absolutely no leakage. Yippee!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't carry on with it for too long because I ended up having pain inside the vaginal wall, same place it hurt when I was trying to have sex. Wonder what that could be?Confused
I had blood work done on Friday, this is just to see where my hemoglobin is at. The place where I was stuck with the needle is all bruised, I guess I am not clotting very well. It keeps getting bigger each day. I have never had that happen to me with a blood test before. The girl that did it was good at it, no pain and got the vein right away so who knows. I will hear from my doctor this week on the results. I am still tired. Last night I went to a BBQ/concert. I was there to partly enjoy myself and to perform, sing and play guitar. I had a great time, but got so tired and had to go home before midnight. That is so unlike me, I used to stay up half the night no problem. I hope I get my energy back soon. Take care everyone and talk later.

Flowers40 · 11/07/2011 12:05

Hi everyone,

Just got back from my post op check up, it went well and my consultant seemed 'delighted' with his handiwork, called it things like 'lovely'. I got the all clear, he said it has healed up well and best of all, there is no sign of any prolapse. Sooo relieved! I told him about my couple of accidents a week ago and he said it is normal, he also said he did the hsyterectomy as things were in pretty bad shape when he went in during the op. He is sending me for physio for the stress incontinence but said I would only need 1 session then continue at home. He ended by saying that I can now do 'whatever I want', wish I had a partner to try it out ;)

So I am all done and I guess you could say a success story at this stage. For those who are new or just getting done, I had posterior/anterior repair and hysterectomy plus cervix removed, no mesh or TVT. My energy levels are back to good again and I even managed to go clubbing till 4am on saturday night, which at one point after the op I thought I would never do again. I would say now it has all been worth it.

Hope you all get the results you want too and thank you to everyone who has supported me so much through this. Will pop in from time to time to see you all,

love flowers xoxo

l4k · 11/07/2011 16:13

Flowers- thanks for reporting back.As you had the same procedures that I am waiting for I really appreciate the update.Really glad to hear you are all better.I don't know about the clubbing till 4am ,I can't manage that now! perhaps I'll try it when I'm all done.:)
Hope everyone else is ok too.

Jannie49 · 11/07/2011 19:40

I only do 4am when I go to see my oldest in Mancs cos thats when the Village pubs shut, dont do that where I live, good nitelife but not as good as Mancs Gay village, lol, last time we were still raring to go, had to be content with a take away n taxi home :(

Thanks for that JM, I'll try again, did try typing it in but maybe had spaces or something that shouldnt be there.

LAV: Maybe it wasnt a period then, maybe just settling down. Two weeks too early anyway and probably too light. I did have Norethisterone for heavy periods but came off just before op, too many side effects. Im going to see if Ive reduced naturally being 49 and maybe peri-menopausal otherwise Im not taking those again Ill be seeing GP for alternative treatments. Constant itching, dryness, thrush, then a pelvic infection was still seems to be hanging around.
Feel ok today, slight after effects of the cold but Im getting energy back which isnt too bad after 11 days.

Hope you and everyone well xx

Testin testin lol Brew

Jannie, maybe a topical oestrogen, cream or pessary might be good for the itching/thrush/dryness problem? It is only a very small amount of oestrogen and they reckon it all gets absorbed 'down below' so doesn't circulate.
I use Vagifem which is a pessary, very tiny one and previously I used Ovestin which is a cream.

Anyway, just a thought
Nice to hear how well Flowers and Footle are doing :)
I'm still hoping that my urgency problem will sort itself out, been 3 weeks today since my TVT.
Good wishes to all.

Likeavirgin · 13/07/2011 10:55

Hi everyone. Glad to hear another sucess story, congrats Flowers on a clean bill of health. Footle, nice to hear you are doing well also.

I am still at the stage where I hope sex becomes comfortable. Hubby and I have done it and it was a sucess, but there is an area that has pain and I don't know when this will sibside. Hubby is afraid to hurt me and this causes him troubles with orgasm. I am not wincing in pain, just trying to tolerate it enough to get through, but hubby senses this. When i was at the doctors for my 6 week post op, he put his finger in the vagina to locate the TVT and could feel it. I decided laszt night to feel in there nad yes it is abvious, I can feel where the tape goes around the urethra. It makes a half circle at the top of the vaginal wall and it feels so tight, like a ligament. When touching the area, I could feel the pain I get while having sex. The pain is caused by the tightness of hte TVT. It seems to pull at the bottom side of the vagina. I am scared now after feeling this area because it feels so close to the surface of the vaginal wall that I am afraid it will wear through. Hubby says that he can feel it when he is inside of me suring sex. That is where he finds it very tight. I guess time will tell with the healing process, i will keep you all posted. My bruising in teh arm from teh blood test is going away now. I am feeling a bit better though, the doctors office phoned and said that the hemoglobin has improved enough that I dont have to take iron anymore. HooraySmile So all in all physically things are looking up.

Hey Footle, hey Dawn. Just popped in to say Hi. Sorry it's not all plain sailing for you Dawn but I AM glad to hear your blood count is sorting itself out.
I seem to be all fine still although I am so damn tired. I am wondering if it is perhaps a symptom of hayfever. I dont really suffer from it but my nose is very runny and I feel 'full of it'. Wondering if it could cause me to be so tired! I'm normally only like this during my PMT but have been like it for 2 months and its gets you down a bit as I am missing my 'energy week'!!
But I am just whinging - I'm fine really!
TMI warning - I think the time has come......I am planning on loosing my second virginity! It has been two months and I think the time has come! I am a little worried that I may ache although since the first couple of weeks, I have not had any discomfort with intamacy so hopefully all will be good.
I still fel as though I have a small pocket just inside my woohoo. Not a rectocele as there is no bulge, it's just that when I go to the loo I still feel as though i am not completely empty. It's as if the last inch of my bowel doesn't work properly and doesn't push everything out.
I will wait and see how sex goes and then decide if this was all worth it! LOL!
Speak soon
xxx

Hello ladies. I'm pleased to see this thread as I could do with some advice as have both rectal and vaginal prolapses since having four large babies ( all over 10lbs). My uterus is not prolapsed.
I'm not incontinent but I do have problems with constipation on a daily basis. It takes me ages on the toilet and when I have to go, I have to go NOW.
I've spoken to a surgeon a couple of years back and they said they can attempt a repair but I won't be able to lift anything for 3-6 months, then nothing over 10lbs ever!!! My youngest was only q8 months old so the timeing wasn't great so I put it off.
It doesn't seem to be getting any worse but I do wonder if it's worth the risk, giving I'm coping okay?
I'm also very overweight which I know doesn't help, but I'm very active- walk dogs for an hour or so a day, walk school runs etc. Has anyone found weight loss helped their original prolapses?

Thanks for replying Footle. Will have a read through and hope someone in my situation surfaces.
LOL at 'Poo straight' I know exactly what you mean by that :)
Was wrestling with myself about how to describe toileting activities but can see that a bit of straight talking here won't shock anyone :)

Right now we're talking 'straight talking' so can any of the TVT ladies tell me if they can wee easily? My flow isn't quite as slow as it was but it's still all over the place and I still have to up end myself to get the last bit to come out. Then wait 30 seconds as you can bet I will start again.
It's not really a problem at least not like the urgency is but was just wondering if that happened to anyone else and if it went back to any sort of normal?

Thanks Footle, I am still hoping against hope that I can at least go out without thinking where the loos are all the time! Pretty certain that the stress bit of incontinence problem is solved and if the urgency bit would calm down then I would cope with the odd urinating pattern I think.
Apparently this was all caused by me being quite small 'down there' (not everywhere!) and both my children being rather large and of course once I became post meno it became more of a problem, suppose some people get the prolapse and others what I have.
Hope you are doing ok.

l4k · 15/07/2011 23:02

I'm still following you all and checking you are all ok but life is so hectic atm that I'm not doing well keeping up to date.My dd2 broke her arm last week, and dh is away 2 days a week taking his dad to radiotherapy so lots going on.
Thanks for asking Footle, still not got a date for op.Still not fully decided on weather to go with vag hysterectomy at same time as rectocele and cystocele repairs but this may become clear soon.I rang yesterday to see how long my mums results from her BRCA1+2 tests will be as docs would like to know before my op and they said next month. They had said 6 months and its only been 4 weeks. From what the genetic nurse was asking me it seems the test is probably positive and looking on breast cancer forums,it seems the speed of the result points to positive. So,I will need to be tested and if it's positive I'll have to have my ovaries removed too.And as one gyne told me,"theres no point having your womb and no ovaries so that would decided for me in a way.
Sorry to go a bit off topic ladies, but its all tied up together for me.
mymomdom- losing weight did not help me at all.I lost 3 stone last winter and things are worse than ever.I recommend flax seeds and linseeds taken in water daily for the constipation, which was/is my biggest problem.
And I've waited till my youngest of 4 starts school to have my op but there really is no good time.
Take care everyone.

jewellerymum · 16/07/2011 00:51

Hi everyone, just a quickie as it's very late - have just got back from seeing Harry Potter at the cinema!
Well, the good news is, everything works!!! I have lost my virginity again! (2 months is a long time!) It was a little achey to start with and I was very nervous but it all worked!! Hubbie said it felt very different and he hadn't realised before how much my shape had changed as it happened gradually but now, with the post op results he has realised how 'soft' everything seemed inside before. He said is much snugger now (for want of a better phrase) and he seemed happy with the results. I had a few tears of relief that it was worth going through the op and recovery!
So i guess that's me recovered and back to normal then! The only thing I haven't done is go on the trampoline. Think I will shy away from that one for a while longer
Big hugs all, I'm off to bed, I'm exhausted!!!
