Hello ladies, I hope you find this, I don't want to lose my pre-op and post-op buddies!!

OP posts:
jackie62 · 18/12/2011 22:31

Hi Bruffy J, lovely to be able to talk to you. How are you feeling? Hope each procedure is successful for you. Keep us posted! Have you thought about figs or prunes? They are a bit more gentle than laxatives as long as you don't take too many! Good luck!

Bruffyj · 18/12/2011 23:58

Hi jackie 62,
I did think of prunes but I was put on insulin whilst pregnant so i try to avoid the sweet stuff.
I spoke to my sister last night, she's still in Uk. She had this op done about 4 years ago on the tv show embarrassing bodies ( it was a bit contraversal) think i'm the only person who has not seen it!
She has given me some tips on things to use for the stitches pulling and itching ect which she tells me is next (great).
I feel a bit better today (day 7) a bit like I've just had a baby, the sickness has worn off too. Going to try no pain killers, see how I get on.
Desperately need to get some Christmas shopping or it will be cancelled in this house!

Hello, hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread ( I haven't read it Xmas Blush. I have been told I have uterine, bladder and bowel prolapses. My question is does anyone which similar feel sick most of the time?

cardamomginger · 19/12/2011 17:32

Yes, have bladder, rectal and uterine prolapses. Have never felt sick with them. Very uncomfortable, some pain, horrid dragging sensations. But never sick. Have you seen a consultant? Do you have a plan about what to do?

jackie62 · 19/12/2011 18:21

Hi coco..lovely to have you join. It is amazing that this thread has been so successful.
Does anyone have the know- how to continue it as we are getting perilously close to the 1000th thread and it will need to continued somehow?!
Hope everyone is recovering nicely from their ops. Good luck for those still waiting.
I have just received exciting news, I am going in for my op on Thursday. Will probably be in for Christmas, but I'm happy. Can't wait to start healing and improving and get back to work. I miss my job! Mad I know, also I was just about to be put on half pay which just makes things loads worse and is a bit insulting. Hey ho, will keep you posted! Xxx

cocolepew · 19/12/2011 19:11

I'm waiting for my appointment, had TVT and womb ablation 4 years ago, had to go to gynae ward last saturday to be catherised (sp). was thinking tonight that I may have got a uti from it, feel bit sore and shivery as well. It would help if I could poo as well Xmas Blush

Be careful coco, I have had kidney infections and once it started without me even having proper uti symptoms, just went straight to high temperature, dizzy and sick and on that occasion I also didn't have a positive urine test either but was still ill. So do see gp before Christmas just in case maybe?

Not posted lately, recently had a cataract operation just to add to my TVT op this year and would you believe with the TVT I was in the 2 per cent of surgeon's patients who had problems and now I'm in the 1 per cent of people who have macular oedema after cataract op. Not my year!
Hope everyone gets on ok with their ops and convalescence.

cocolepew · 19/12/2011 19:25

Thanks everyone, Im going to the nurse on weds to give blood I'll ask her to dip my pee, they Drs in the hospital were surprised I hadn't been getting infections already. They put a ring in to try to do until my appointment but it moved and I had to pull it out.

Oh the glamour.

Good luck to everyone Smile

Hi ladies, i see some new ladies like me joining the thread, just shows how many of us there are out there:) just giving an update, have stopped the painkillers and not doing too badly, been out getting shopping last 2 days nothing too heavy, had to sit down a few times as was feeling bit of pressure downstairs. started movical couldn't find milk of magnesia lol. Have had bm's not too bad thank goodness. Only 2 presents left to get then I can relax :)
I' m leaving them til tomorrow... Hubby is going to get the rest of the shopping :) I had no choice yesterday and drove, luckily the traffic is very slow paced out here and we have an automatic, so was absolutely fine.

Has anyone spoken to the 2 ladies who had the op last week?

CAZ1958 · 20/12/2011 09:27

Morning Ladies.....
Dear Bruffyj...good to hear that things are going so well, when was your op ??? 12/12 ??? Out shopping & driving, I am speechless. I was told to rest in bed & be mobile 50/50 & def no stairs for a week.
I had a good day yesterday, spent the day wandering upstairs & sitting in bed on the computer, in the eve we had a Santa sleigh which comes around for the kids, very magical so I stood up and watched that for about 45 mins, nothing else !!!This morning I am uncomfortable verging on pain. Took all my tabs at 5.30am plus bleeding back & front !!! Not heavy but red.
I am so so pee'd off....this all feels like it was last fri before I left hospital. Could just the things I said above knocked me back like this ??? Or is this just normal so soon after the op ???
Welcome new ladies....this thread is a lifeline & worth it's weight in gold.

cantbelieveimnotbetter · 20/12/2011 11:50

Hi Caz. It may be the standing that has set you back. I was told this is one of the worst things-it's pressure on the pelvic floor in a way that walking isn't.It's only been five days........... I was strangely miserable even though I felt fine physically -had to keep reminding myself it was over. Also g.a takes a long time to leave your system. Bleeding normal I think But I guess we all worry we've done something wrong and messed up the whole thing
Good luck Jackie and hope you'll be home for Christmas.

cocolepew · 20/12/2011 19:44

If possible could someone post a link to the last thread? I'd like to read from the beginning.

TIA

Bruffyj · 21/12/2011 10:54

Hi caz, yes op was 12/12, feeling ok bit tender and if I stand for too long I know about it the pressure builds up and you have to sit down legs up. Not done any stairs yet but can imagine would be painful. I have been resting, I'm def not running around like a spring chicken. Over did it with the shopping but we really had nothing in and hubby is useless ( bless him). My gyne told me just not to lift anything heavier than a kettle, no swimming and if it hurts don't do it. I am ok to drive after a week by my insurance, I drive an automatic so no clutch work thank goodness, worse bit was getting in and adjusting the seat, I can honestly say driving didn't interfere or pull anything just take it easy if you have to drive and check with your insurer, and bear in mind I live in sleepy Perth no traffic jams ect straight there straight back 10 min drive. When was your op 13 - 14? That first week was crap, the ache on undercarriage :( it gets better, I've not had any set backs yet. I have my fingers crossed you start feeling like a new woman soon. Dont know about you, but I get all down if I'm kept couped up for too long.

My sister had this op 4-5 years ago she said the first 10 14days are the worse, then you should start to feel normalish, I'm at 10 days, i feel like I've just given birth and had an episiotomy, bleeding has virtually stopped just a faint pinky discharge. The movical has helped with the bm and that bit all seem ok now. I stopped taking all the pain killers as they don't really agree with me and the pain is ok, it reminds me when to quit :) got a check up tomorrow so will give an update.

Bruffyj · 21/12/2011 10:58

Just want to wish jackie good luck with the op and a speedy recovery x

cocolepew · 21/12/2011 11:49

Just realised all I have to do is look at GH threads Xmas Blush

CAZ1958 · 21/12/2011 12:46

Hello Ladies....
Want to wish Jackie good luck as well, it will soon be over & you can look forward just knowing that everthing is done. I am sure today isn't very good though. Fingers crossed for being home at Christmas & being looked after. I will be thinking of you XXX
Dear Bruffyj.....I am having a much better day today, I rested a real lot yesterday....fingers crossed to go downstairs tomoz. So pleased that the BM's have sorted themselves out now....I had a nasty 1st birth episiotomy/forceps with awful constipation so yes, I do liken this healing process to that. The only way is forward XXXX
I might try to cut back on painkillers tomoz as well, just to see how I get on.
Good luck on your check-up.

Hi ladies, had check up and was all good :) feeling it in the butt today very achy and had a mad shooting pain. Plus I now have a small tender spot on one of the wounds (thinking it could be a stitch or the start of an abscess) I can't get a good look at it. What do you guys think am I just being paranoid?

Caz how did you get on without the pain killers?

CAZ1958 · 22/12/2011 19:42

Hello Ladies...........
Dear Bruffyj....really not liking the sound of either of it. Best get it checked out again before the Christmas hols start Xmas Hmm . I would rather be paranoid & a pain to the docs than let possible things get worse !!! Fingers crossed for you & take it easy XXX
I cut my tabs down a bit but have suffered for it.....have upped them again. Have felt queer today as well, totally washed out & exhausted, slept a lot & finally perked up now. Guess we are gonna get good and bad days at this early stage.
Dear Friends43...someone has made a right muck-up Xmas Shock it is deffo a 6 week check !!!
Take care All
