Poor Smee Sad - it sounds horrible, I hope as well as using you as a photo opportunity, they're coming up with some relief for you.

MAS - ouch to arm, hope its better soon.

I have managed to master the technicalties of a profile. So if you click on mine you can see some pics. of my gorgeous DD playing in the snow today outside her house.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2010 07:13

Oh lovely KK !

School closed today so ds and dh home -dh off anyway as he has 2 days booked to decorate sitting room -if he's up to it...he seems a bit better.
Arm was agony last night but not any worse,so should be better soon.

MAS I hope the swelling goes down soon, have you got any antihistimine to take, if you are allowed to with other meds?

School is open here today, but I can't get down our track, never mind, up the ungritted minor road, or the five miles along the ungritten major road! We are staying here, I actually might be able to make it, I can normally manage snowing conditions quite well, but the other lunatics on the road combined with the fragile nature of my ds's neck means I am not taking the risk! Baby has got a virus, so is all floppy and cuddly.

Smee it doesn't sound good, it there anything that they can give you to calm the skin down? So what went wrong then with the radiation to produce this effect on your skin, is it just how your skin reacted?

Mr KK strikes again....he is a champion "competitioner" (sorry lived in US for a while and their grasp of the english language must have rubbed off Xmas Grin) at the moment!

SparkleRainbow · 02/12/2010 08:28

Love them.....

Xmas Grin Xmas Smile Xmas Grin

small things.........

Cakesandale · 02/12/2010 09:43

Poor smee, that sounds horrible. I suppose amusement is the only way to go as regards pictures - take care though. have they come up with anything that can ward off the soreness? I am guessing not, at least for as long as you are having it zapped.

And poor MAS, and babysparkles! Hope all are feeling better soon.

SR - step away from the chocolate cake, birthday or no birthday, there is a weigh-in looming [fgrin}

Off to look at KK's pics now.....

Cakesandale · 02/12/2010 09:47

oh fab!

reallywoundup · 02/12/2010 10:18

hi all, haven't really managed to keep track of you all. We're snowed in the village atm, can't get to the main road (well i haven't really tried tbh, i'm sure i could in the truck, but it's not really worth the fuss!)

our school has remained open throughout so yey for them!

I know mas has seen it on fb, but there was an article in the local paper and on the radio about my friend who died, she chose to donate her organs (parents only knew because it was on her boots advantage card) So proud of her and her family- it must have been a hard thing to do, but so nice that through their grief someone else has been given their life back (i am a strong advocate of organ donation, i know two people who are on the critical list waiting for organs).

will catch up later, i really need to get this house sorted... i think a bomb went off while we were sleeping Grin

KurriKurri · 02/12/2010 10:22

Thank you for the kind comments, - Uni. was closed for the day, so they went out and had fun instead Xmas Grin. I think they could do with being a bit bigger - but I'm not sure how to do that. I'll try to put some of DS up later - DH has the memory stick they are on.

Sparkles - you are very wise, certainly not worth asking risks in this weather, I have seen some ridiculous driving over the last couple of days - insane, no regard for the conditions at all. I hope baby feels better soon, poor little thing, there's a lot of viruses around at the moment.

Hope the arm improves today MAS, sounds horrible Sad.

Smee good luck with rads today - then only one to go, - then you'll have a chance to heal up. I really feel for you Sad my skin broke down,- but not as bad as yours sounds - and that was painful enough. I hope it starts healing soon.

I nearly managed to fall on my bum this morning when I went to fetch the wheely bin. Just managed to save myself - the path is solid ice now. I'll salt it in a little while. I'm glad I didn't fall and have to be rescued - I was wearing my pyjamas, wellies, a woolly hat and DS's old torn overcoat which is about ten sizes too big,- very glam Xmas Grin

KurriKurri · 02/12/2010 10:26

sorry x-posted RWU - what a wonderful gift your friend left, I'm sure the fact that she was able to help others in this way will be a comfort to her family.

Cakesandale · 02/12/2010 11:25

How lovely that your friend thought to do that, RWU - I hope it helps her family and friends that something positive has come out of it, for someone.

{fgrin} KK! Last winter, on my way to the GPs with infection in my rads burns (yuk) I fell over in full view of the passing traffic. I wasn't dressed quite as amusingly as you, but I couldn't get up again because the ice was so slippy, so i must have given everyone a laugh.

We've just taken DH's car to our local garage to be serviced - the poor guy who runs it has just told us that travellers pulled up in a big lorry two nights ago, shone their headlights full into the CCTV cameras so the number plate could not be seen, and syphoned off £10,000 worth of diesel. The next night they came back and tried to take more - last night they came back a third time. Because it had all been secured and they could not get anything, they cut all the phone lines out of pure spite. Sad Aren't some people absolutely SCUM?

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2010 12:49

that's appallng Cakes Shock (that didn't deserve a festive shocked face)
Poor babysparkle - hope recovery is swift.
Arm still v sore indeed -it feels huge and tender -grrr.
I am sure it'll sort itself- managed to dust a bit this morning.
RWU - such a lovely gift your dear friend has left - I hope that it's a small comfort to her family.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 02/12/2010 12:51

The arm is a prime excuse NOT to dust.

KurriKurri · 02/12/2010 12:57

That's awful Cakes Shock

MAS - I agree with Cakes - I would stop dusting for a lot less than a sore arm Grin

reallywoundup · 02/12/2010 13:51

there is more to life than dusting... Grin

spoke too soon, just had to trudge out with dd to collect the boys as the school HAS shut!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2010 14:07

I know, but I'm left handed and my 'bad' arm is the left one so the poor arm is the right one- so no excuse ! Am going to meditate shortly, then start on a new picture - weird old day isn't it ? feels odd having both the MAS menfolk home.
Made Celeste a snowball and brought it in for her to play with- she wasn't too sure.
Hope you're back safely with boys RWU !

I need your help oh wise ones Grin My birthday is soonish, and DH is going to get me a swimsuit - I haven't got a proper mastectomy one, and my converted ordinary one doesn't cover my scars properly. So time to treat myself I thought Smile

This is my shortlist - opinions please (you can say they are all horrible if you think so - I can take it Grin but choice is a bit limited.)

no 1

no 2

no 3

no 4

no 5

no 6

Cakesandale · 02/12/2010 18:13

Actually I like all of them. 2,5, and 6 are my faves.

SparkleRainbow · 02/12/2010 18:31

I like all of them too, but 1, 2 and 6 are my favourites. I think they have got some good designs there....certainly to the maternity black one I am still wearing to shame Xmas Blush

sandripples · 02/12/2010 18:49

Hi, I like all of them too. 5 and 6 are esp. nice. Depends on your colouring though - I don't suit gold too well and am better in blues/greens/purples.

Grinat all funny stories.

Smee - really sorry about your rads-burns. Is the skin infected as well? Seems pretty common. I hope you'll be Ok in the weeks following rads as the cooking process carries on for ages. I didn't wear any bra for a couple of months as was more comfortable that way.

I have had a wonderful brithday week! The frozen party, then lunch with my team on TUesday and then dinner out with DS and DH last night. I fear for the weigh-in- esp as I'm having a work Christmas meal tomorrow night - this is hopeless!

Builder is here at last. Must go.

KurriKurri · 02/12/2010 18:51

Thank you both Smile I also like them all - I hate having to choose. But I think (hope) 2 and 6 with the dark at the bottom and colour at the top would be flattering and make me look pencil thin GrinGrinGrin - or maybe I should be googling 'miracle-wear.'

SparkleRainbow · 02/12/2010 19:12

You don't want to be pencil thin, just show off your womanly curves to the bet of their advantage..... that what I tell myself anyway Xmas Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2010 19:49

1 3 and 5 - esp 5. !!

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2010 19:50

3 votes for number 5 !
So glad you're having a fab birthday week SR Xmas Smile

OP posts:
sandripples · 02/12/2010 19:54

RWU -that's wonderful that your friend has helped other people via organ donation.

KK sorry to be so thick, but where is your profile??

KurriKurri · 02/12/2010 20:14

oh thank you all - sorry I x-posted SR, yes I like 5 too, - and purples/greens/ turquoises tend to be my colour I think.

I'm glad you've enjoyed your birthday week SR. To see my profile click on my name above my post (the bit in blue) and you'll get to it, - then click on KurriKurri's pictures. Smile
