Creme fraiche or double cream? For icing a chocolate cake?

Double - Seriously!?!

Brian - a lot of hospitals and doctors won't take soft toys cos of germs etc. As I said before, but Double chose to ignore, they can't be wiped clean. Grin

Well, BCH and Shrewsbury children's ward won't. Same with our GP and dentist. Worht checking though. Local playgroup/SureStart scheme?

School fair is a good idea? They can sell them and make money for the school? Christmas fair?

If it for decorating the cake then Creme Freche, but if the cake is decorated and going to be eaten with a spoon then drowning in Double Cream is the way to go, especially if afore said cake is slightly warm.

However making Apple Pie is even more preferable..

There isn't much I wouldn't do for a nicely made Apple Pie....

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/10/2010 15:31

Er, surely icing is just butter and icing sugar? Where does the cream come into it? Confused

I want to sleeeeeep.

mittz · 02/10/2010 15:33

I. Hate. Stuffed. Toys.

I apologise profusely to anyone on this thread that is drawn to them but I fantasize about lining them up on a wall at a military base and unloading a huge amount of my angst of the furry little feckers with a big loud gun.

I have ishooes!

Mouseface · 02/10/2010 15:33

Thank you Double. I love you really and knew you weren't ignoring me.

I just wanted you to post to me, that's all. Grin

Brian, if you send me those toys, I will give them to the village school for the fair. BUT it will cost an arm and a leg to post them so best not eh?

Oh blimey there is confectioners cream an' alsorts, I was a moderately competent sweet chef thingy many moons ago... can't make packet custard now.

Speaking of which, I have a tin of custard, I could eat that without feeling like my throat is being shredded.

BrianAndHisBalls · 02/10/2010 16:23

you lot are really weird.

i thought iced cakes were icing sugar and water too bitter.

whats the harder crunchier but soft in middle icing made of, is it buttercream icing? whats in that then?

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/10/2010 16:25

Burtter and icing sugar. Whipped cream and jam I would make an exception for, but otherwise just butter and icing sugar.

Mouseface · 02/10/2010 16:37

It's a special kind of icing for a recipe that MrM is making and it said creme fraiche or double creme, not me.

I'm with you lot, butter n sugar. Simples!

Double - you X Factoring or SCD later or do you have a life?

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/10/2010 16:46

Cream cheese icing is ok.

mittz · 02/10/2010 16:52

Because Mouse wants to commit some kind of icing travesty with creme fraiche.
