haven't caught up just come on to grasp for advice, even though im always asking the same question Sad

dd been mentioning her dad again today, he's coming up tomorrow.

in the car she said 'why doesn't he come up more often?' i told her to tell him tomorrow that she wants to see him more and have a chat with him about it.

She then said 'is it because he can't afford petrol because he doesn't have a job?' I said 'he has a job but he's not got any money', lots of questions about what he was spending his money on. I eventually said 'I dont know poppet, he's just not good at managing money' she said 'he just wants to spend it on other things and not see me' Sad

So, I kind of said, oh poppet we all love you, he loves you too, just no money blah blah.

BUT, should I in future lie and say he does want to come up more often but has no money (he has normally paid job just spends his money on beer/fags/??dunno really). This doesn't feel right, I don't want to lie to her really.

OR tell the truth - he's a selfish bastard who prefers buying crap than seeing you. Not likely I'll say that for obvious reasons.

So what do I say???? She brought it up AGAIN later saying I miss my daddy then she asked Phil if she could call him daddy. He said of course you can poppet if you want to.

How on earth do you explain that daddy is a cunt without saying that or worrying her little head?!!

Sorry, i've asked this question about a 100 times.

Brian.

I have been in your shoes.

BE HONEST with her. Right now, be honest from here on in. YOU MUST!

Daddy is a C**T! Which is not your fault but she needs to know that his true colours don't match the rainbow.

Let her call DP daddy if she wants to. DD calls MrM daddy. She still sees her dad but asks loads of questions all the time.

BE HONEST PLEASE Brian.

For her sake and for your own piece of mind.

If he can't be arsed, then she needs to know.

Otherwise you could end up with 'You made my daddy go away' or 'You stopped daddy from seeing me'

DP does a great job being her dad and he loves her so much. I guess that she craves that from her real father.

How sad for her. xxx

Second what Double says, re-assure her, tell her how much you and DP and even her daddy loves her.

Although she may turn around and say - 'If he loves me so much, why doesn't he see me?'

Tis hard lovely Brian. xx

its a shit isnt it. sorry you've both been through it too Sad Think its rearing its head at moment because of Mole and dp being her daddy iyswim.

I said to her earlier, just talk to him tomorrrow sweetie. Then I asked what would help like 'do you want to be able to phone him whenever you want' and she said yes so dp will arrange that tomorrow (he and i dont speak and havent for over a year apart from one incident)

I said to her, dp can speak to daddy and tell him you'd like to see him more often and she said no she'd do it. Bit weird. But I've told her before that dp would speak to him, which he did, but answer was same as always - can't afford to come up more often.

Do you think we should take her down there or meet half way?

I've always said no before because the one day every 5 weeks is the only day we get to 'do' stuff - paint rooms etc, so didnt really want to spend it driving in car with the baby for 3 hours. Also didn't want to pay the petrol as he contributes fuck all as it is already.

God - so confusing!!!!!

I feel like if i was a good mother id reassure her and just say that hes broke and its not his fault etc, just not sure i can.

Must try harder I think.

Mouseface · 09/10/2010 21:51

Double - same here..... DD 'gets it', she knows her dad is a waste of space. Sad

Off to do knew thread if that's ok?? x

Mouseface · 09/10/2010 21:56

Brian - DO NOT take her to him FFS, he has to make the effort.

It's not fair for him not to. We sometimes do halfway, well, MrM does. He and XP get on just fine. I hate the twat.

Make him make the effort sweetie.
