Love the manipulation and the absolute glee if they can get the dc to say they want to stay there rather than come back home they see the whole thing as some sort of competition.

exactly like both my parents saf, although they'd act all innocent if you tried to bring it up. They love it if they can get dd1 to show preference for them (or something they've suggested) over me.

When dd wanted to come home from theirs the one night when she was meant to be staying overnight, they blamed it on me phoning her 'she was perfectly fine till you phoned and upset her'

Gets at you and your confidence. Not sure what the answer is apart from zero contact and not sure thats a good answer either
