So vocal and present during the campaign and haven’t seen her anywhere at all today 🤷‍♀️😳… just being nosey. 🤔

14.33 just reported entering no 10

She's about to become deputy PM.

It's wonderful isn't it.

Regardless of your opinion on her politics, surely we can all enjoy the fact that a working class woman who became a mother in her teens can rise to this position. And without some Eliza Doolittle routine, pretending to be something she's not.

greenpolarbear · 05/07/2024 14:37

She's probably getting her hair dyed brown and cut in the helmet Lego bob that all the Labour women seem to have had done for this election. Looks like it's superglued in place on all of them.

I'm not a huge labour supporter, but come from a northern WC family. At last I feel like there is someone to represent me in parliament. I love the accent and love the confidence. Hope she becomes deputy PM 😁!

H34th · 05/07/2024 14:39

@CelesteCunningham Absolutely!

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/07/2024 14:39

Right now she's in No 10.

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2024 14:39

I find it odd that any socialist like Rayner can abandon the concept of political class analysis, particularly the fundamental concept of sex classes being important to recognising and improving the social and economic conditions of women.

To then replace the concept of class analysis with Butlerian gender theory is even odder.

For these reasons I remain suspicious of and disillusioned with most Labour politicians.

This is how I feel too.

She was up all night giving interviews on TV. I last saw her on BBC about 6am and am guessing she is in bed. Nasty comment about elecution lessons - we can't all be posh or from the south.

She’s said before she’s not going to “file off her rough edges” for anyone. I like her so far.

Probably drawing up plans to cover Britain in disgusting rabbit hutch houses jammed on top of one another. I’d advise everybody to make the most of any nearby fields and woodland. You’ll be lucky if it’s still untouched five years from now.

You mean allowing people to have proper homes again?

I can only hope that you have a very poor sense of humour. If this wasn’t supposed to be funny, this is such a prejudiced and ignorant thing to say.

Leniriefenstahl · 05/07/2024 14:06

Yeah right. Why is it okay to be insulting towards a white working class woman ?

Do we have to all like all white working class women!

Thats not very democratic

Agreed very worried for the Greenbelt now!

Although I do think we should be increasing the density and promoting smaller terraced properties to
make new housing affordable
save on materials and energy usage
use less land

Hiding out with Larry the Cat? Not seen him either.

He spent the day sleeping outside number 10.

I wonder if the shipping containers they're trialling in Manchester as accomodation for homeless people will become the blueprint for 'affordable homes'.

TakeOnFlea · 05/07/2024 15:04

She's in number 10 getting a job well earned. But yeah, folks on here can't cope with her northern accent. Pathetic

Dahliasrule · 05/07/2024 15:08

As others have said, she was on several of the channels last night giving interviews. I thought she cam across really well and gave clear, dignified and measured answers to all the questions she was asked. I really don’t understand the hate some people seem to have for her. She spoke well and fluently, surely better than the umms and aaahs of windswept Boris.

we all saw how posh boys with their private school drawl did running the country.... not sure their eloquence added a great deal

Nope, Larry was spotted earlier today, she certainly wasn’t with him

GU24Mum · 05/07/2024 15:15

That green suit is an interesting choice! Am not judging her competence based on her clothing but it's quite eye-catching!

Ridiculing women’s appearance is so crass

Just wow. Do people really think this way?

I'm not her biggest fan but was thinking (in the long interview early last night where she managed to stay absolutely deadpan until a tiny smile at the end) - how amazing to have a deputy prime minister who looks and talks like her.

But I don't have a preference for slickly and privately educated career politicians in my government.

Ridiculing anyone is crass!
clothes
upbringing
accent
colour
etc

It’s not just women being ridiculed on this thread either
Whatever a person is. Whatever their upbringing. Whatever school they went to. However much money they have or don’t have…it’s completely disgusting to make insulting generalisations about anyone.

Its here on this thread and on so many others and across our wider society, it’s disgusting!

PetronellaOsgood · 05/07/2024 15:28

Comments on the hair, outfit and accent of another woman, really is that where we are!
