Can you explain how the people who have run this country into the ground for the last 14 years and resulted in some of the worse conditions in the last century are not scum?

I can explain that not matter what I do not call people scum. However, I am not even representing the U.K. on the world stage.

I find it odd that any socialist like Rayner can abandon the concept of political class analysis, particularly the fundamental concept of sex classes being important to recognising and improving the social and economic conditions of women.

To then replace the concept of class analysis with Butlerian gender theory is even odder.

For these reasons I remain suspicious of and disillusioned with most Labour politicians.

Bloody hell that was a gob full ...
You must be incredibly clever!

personally I am just fucking ecstatic that the most appalling bunch of grifting cunts have received a long long overdue kicking... the fact that my MP is actually someone I have voted for (tactically) for the first time since I was 18 (now 62) just enhances my joy. (Tunbridge Wells turned LibDem after 119 years Tory )

.. AR as deputy PM is just the cherry on the delicious cake. Hope the Daily Fail is enjoying it too. Such a shame their nasty vicious campaign against her failed so miserably..

I LOVE her accent too.

Sorry but despite being vocally gender critical at every opportunity - it is not THE thing at the top of my agenda.

They were education, health, care for the elderly and disabled, the end of profiteering out of public utilities, Polluting our rivers and awarding govt contracts to your mates. Economic stability capital investment.
(I'm also happy to pay higher taxes for all the an above despite not being a high earner ...

I would even say that removing VAT on private school fees is more important.. so for me , a Labour government are the dream that I am hopeful will become a reality..
Conviction politicians with a focus on public service. First.

What can I say to a post like this. Just that it seems that this country deserves the government they got.

Yes I think finally, for the first time in a long time, the country may well have the government we deserve. Smile

Right as Oxford educated multi millionaire starmer is the epitome of the working person.

SkippysEar · 05/07/2024 17:45

On the plus side, Keir has at least put her in a bit of a non job, you just have to hope he never takes ill. Nick Clegg and John Prescott never got much exposure.

He's kept the proper jobs for the posh Tory women in disguise like Bridget Phillipson, Yvette Cooper and Rachael Reeves - all Oxford grads. The funny thing is they probably look down on Rayner more than most Tories.

What a nasty snobby comment. hate the classism against Rayner. The last lot of Eton etc al lot have screwed this country over and broken it. Thank god some decent normal folk are in charge.

Starmer is not a multi millionaire. This has been floating about on different threads today and it's bollocks. Its an untruth started by the Mail but shown to be false by the Evening Standard who as far as I know are not the biggest Labour supporters.

The misogyny and classism on this and the Jess Phillips threads are borderline upsetting me today, and I'm not one to let the internet get under my skin.

They're just pissed off they may have to pay VAT on Tarquin's private schooling.

Jellycatspyjamas · 05/07/2024 17:52

I dont care about her fashion sense but yes, a gobby fishwife with not even enough GCSEs to even get a basic job anywhere has no place on the world stage

Politics should be representative of the population - even those with poor school outcomes. She has worked incredibly hard to get where she is, and has overcome significant disadvantages to achieve in an elitist environment. I’d go for that over silver spooned Etonians every day of the week.

This. She's an inspiration

NecessaryNC24 · 05/07/2024 17:53

Indeed.

I'd love to know exactly where that poster is in life and where she began.

If she tells the truth ofc.

Myblindsaredown · 05/07/2024 17:42

He's not a multi millionaire, but even if he was, he'd have that money because he's worked bloody hard.

He hasn't had a leg up from Mummy and Daddy, he worked hard at a state school and managed to get into Oxford, and then worked hard to get into good jobs until he ended up in the top job in his chosen field.

He's very definitely a "working person", and may well be the epitome of one.

NecessaryNC24 · 05/07/2024 17:56

People are so misinformed, what's going on?

Keir was never a multimillionaire, are you confusing him with Sunak?

SkippysEar · 05/07/2024 18:00

Of course he's a millionnaire, though what that has to do with Rayners offensive appearance is anybody's guess.

Tenaciousbeyondallthings · 05/07/2024 18:02

Hate to spoil the outright lies with a bit of truthing (annoying as it is to be proved wrong ) but KS is not a 'multi millionaire' .

www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/feb/16/keir-starmer-paid-99400-in-uk-tax-on-404000-of-income-labour-reveals

His house that he owns jointly with his wife in London, where he worked in a very senior role as DPP and could probably afford a hefty mortgage.. is probably worth a million but there is nothing unusual about that.

To suggest he comes from the wealth and privilege of the ousted Tory grifters is simply a desperate lie. You must be sad tonight.. but don't worry. go have a nice long holiday in Tuscany for the summer and leave us to enjoy the novelty of responsible adults in charge to sort out the mess..

Metempsychosis · 05/07/2024 18:03

As a person who takes a keen interest in fashion I think that green suit was a shocker. I get that she'd had a long night, but surely she'd had six weeks' notice that this morning would come?

As a person who takes a keen interest in politics, does this one-off questionable fashion choice have any bearing whatsoever on her ability to be a cabinet minister, and also to represent the interests of people from less advantaged backgrounds in cabinet? Obviously not.

No more than I'd suddenly doubt Judi Dench's ability as an actress if she wore a hideous frock to the Oscars.

NecessaryNC24 · 05/07/2024 18:03

Anyone owning a house in central London can say this. That doesn't make them millionaires. If only !

Where is Angela Rayner?
