Farage said that basically, and he’s rights regardless of what people think of him.

Net zero will cost a trillion pounds or something wont it? We’ll be paying for that but many don’t see it.
And as we’ve pointed out, the problem just gets gets sent abroad to countries who don’t have to comply or care about net zero.

The same bloody emissions goes in to the atmosphere.

If only it was that cheap.

The battery storage for the National Grid would cost £30 trillion at today's prices.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/20/climate-change-wind-farms-royal-society-green-energy/

The UK's required energy storage for NetZero has been revised upwards to 100 Terawatt-hours. The UK's largest battery is only 99 MWh and cost £30 million. So we would need 1,000,000 batteries at a cost of £30 trillion.

It's simply impossible at the current time.

Climate chiefs admitted net zero plan based on insufficient data, leading physicist says

Key committee only looked at ‘a single year of data’ when making controversial green energy claims

@Alexandra2001

"I don't believe in WC whites face discrimination, there is certainly a lack of ambition"

Whoah- white working-class boys are the most under-represented group in higher education and your answer to this is it's because they "lack ambition".

What an awful racist statement.

www.tcsnetwork.co.uk/white-working-class-boys-are-falling-behind-everyone-else/

With attitudes like this from the left it's no wonder that voters turn to right wing parties such as Reform

Net zero won't be achieved with batteries alone. It will be achieved with more wind, solar to mitigate that, nuclear, hydrogen/ammonia storage and almost invariably the Severn Barrage which everyone thinks will not be built but in fact will, and the smart grid and interconnectors.

It will be expensive, but a long way short of 30 trillion, I reckon less than a 10th of that.

ThisOldThang · 24/06/2024 14:46

"The Royal Society report found that up to 100 Terawatt-hours (TWh) of storage will be needed by 2050, to mitigate variations in wind and sunshine. This was based on 37 years of weather data rather than the single year relied on by the CCC."

I think I'll go with the Royal Society's analysis and calculations, rather than wishful thinking.

Nice idea. But ask yourself would you choose to do that when you could take the rest of your time and earn twice as much?

No I’d take advantage of the system… if you can’t beat them, join them.
I think you’ve missed the tone of the point I was making though…

Ofcourse he said that, he is one of those rich people with a EU passport

Postal voted , and yes it was for Reform . Whilst I don't agree with all they stand for , I don't agree with the others either . Firm believer in if you always do what you've always done - you'll always get what you've always got .

However I know they won't get in.

Same. Postal voted for Reform. Not stupid, non white and educated. Whatever you lot say- if you keep insulting anyone who disagrees with you- good luck!

What has an EU passport got to do with industry, and the associated CO2 emissions, being exported to India and China?

Paul2023 · 24/06/2024 16:33

We have had decades of governments kicking the can down the road when it comes energy. Back in 2012 or something the government could have started to build nuclear power stations and I’m sure it was Nick Clegg who said no because it would take a decade to do. Meaning the 2020s.

So 14 years later we have the same problem and have wasted 14 years.

The problem has been governments with short term solutions rather than long term solutions.

Back on topic I’m undecided on who to vote for

DogsDinner · 24/06/2024 20:09

One thing that does baffle me is why, given the likely effects of climate change on the U.K., and given these effects are likely to take place well within our children's lifetimes, if not ours, and given that the U.K. already has a population 2 or 3 times bigger than the land can support, why then do some people think it is a good idea to add at least 10 million more people by 2050?

Surely the environmental impact should play a much bigger part in discussions about immigration.

Well. Farage has just endorsed Le Pen. And her politics are imo just what he would like for the UK. Given the above, do you think your vote was in your best interest?

i find it really hard to understand. What is it about Reform that speaks to you? I regard Farage as someone who licences racialism. So I will never vote for him. But obviously you feel differently- what’s good about Reform?

MikeRafone · 24/06/2024 23:03

Farage probably isn't racist and doesn't have a problem with migrants - its just a way of "talking to the people" its all a con and Farage is swinding people. He needs votes together where he wants for other reasons

Of course he’s a racist and so are his candidates.

In a way it’s totally revealing; meet Putin for ten minutes. Profess geopolitical expertise to Salisbury but forget Novichok.

Experts are still useless to some people

nomoretoriesforme · 24/06/2024 23:22

@bombastix main reasons are don't want WW3, don't want current political two party set up

Fawful · 24/06/2024 23:26

The irony is that in the run up to the EU referendum, I remember how Brexiteers loved to point to Le Pen, AfD etc as evidence that we EU citizens are racists, while the UK is naturally tolerant and therefore doesn't belong in that cesspit.
And also how Brexiteers are misunderstood, they're not racist, they don't mind immigration, they just think it's racist to only want immigration from the EU because "they're all white" (as well as fascists), whereas it'd be so much better if immigration could come form everywhere, especially the commonwealth, which the UK has so much in common with.
Turns out they mind immigration wherever it's from, and Le Pen is fine to associate with after all...
In conclusion, vote for whoever you like, but Reform and the National -Front- Rally are allies, and I'll draw the conclusions I like.

DogsDinner · 25/06/2024 00:59

There are plenty of reasons to want less immigration that have bugger all to do with race.

Out of the 4 main parties, they all intend to increase immigration, or already have, despite saying the opposite.

Reform are the only party promising to reduce it. Obviously they won't be forming the next government. But a vote for them is a way for people to express their strength of feeling on the subject, having been ignored for 20 years.

Whats so different between Sunak and Le Pen?

I can promise to reduce immigration with a string of policies that won't happen...... would you vote for me?

Farage says he will tow back boats to French waters.. France will not accept them back... if we tried to do this, we would wreck relations with the EU... not too mention, that we would have totow them back to the UK or risk confrontation with France when they tow them back to the UK..... or they drown.

Come out of the ECHR? only Russia and Belarus have done that.

Unless the issues why people leave their home countries are reduced, migration into Europe and onward to the UK will continue, even death won't reduce it, just look at the numbers who die crossing Africa, Asia or the Med, hasn't deterred anyone.
