To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

Tell me you're a red hot, throbbing Tory without actually SAYING you're a red hot, throbbing Tory 👍🏻🤣

Of all the dystopian futures, I think I’m most ok with being enslaved by cats.

I am already enslaved by cats. This is typed one handed while ear scratching with the other.

Flyinghighhighinthesky · 24/05/2024 16:47

Oh me me me me me!

Sums it all up really.

Boomer55 · 24/05/2024 16:47

I’ve been voting since 1973, and I’ve heard these warnings, time and time again.

The UK still marches on. 👍

taxguru · 24/05/2024 16:48

Nah, reality is that for the vast majority of people, things will barely change. When you're older and have seen a succession of different political parties in power, different prime ministers, different cabinet ministers, you start to realise that the Reform guy is right when he said "two cheeks of the same bum", nothing ever changes. The politicians are just "tweaking" things and the real power is in the civil service (at national and local levels) who do what they want regardless of the political parties allegedly "in power".

Changedforthetoday · 24/05/2024 16:48

Are you on glue OP? People like you scare me as you’ve got the right to vote and you’ll clearly misuse it.

God help us.

MzHz · 24/05/2024 16:48

You could get a job @Fiftypencepiece ? It’d help with the school fees?

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 24/05/2024 16:50

To be fair, a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape would be an improvement, wouldn’t it?

I work in a private school - we’ve had a large bunker built that can sustain staff and children until the Tories get back in.

We’re all trading our designer handbags for the best cubicle.

Edited

🤣

I’ve lived longer than most posters here and seen enough to point out that’s complete bollocks. The Blair/Brown government was the best of my adult life. And I’ve seen plenty of governments since I attained voting age 52 years ago. Even Thatcher would be appalled at what this shower of shit has done to this country.

It’s the people who didn’t immediately get the sarcasm that scare me 😳

IncompleteSenten · 24/05/2024 16:54

Ooh no hang on, enslaved by cats you say? Interesting.

I am already in service to a furry overlord.

I can live with that.

Cancel the abduction.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm? If not- what substance are you using???

Yep. It shows how many people don't bother to read beyond the thread title!

Thanks for a roaring laugh OP!! 😂😂😂

Oh was it sarcasm? The shame I thought it was the rant of a mad person. My bad.

Sadly I have had a number of conversations over the past few days with people talking about leaving the UK if labour gets in so I was feeling particularly prickly and just read the OP first post and then started typing.

as you were people. Sorry!

There's that many of them around on social media lately it's getting increasingly harder to tell 😁

Hopefully these Daily Mail fans will emigrate.

What we really need to save us is a Head Boy from Winchester School, selected for his propensity to do as he is told by his House Masters.

This is so untrue. I worked on the roll out of Sure Start in the 2000s, and it was a fantastic time to be in public service. Education, health, housing - major investment, high standards and attention to detail. Bizarrely, the Tories have managed to raise the tax burden for the country while running public services into the ground. They just do not care. They have been so busy with their own internal power struggles, and with feathering their own nests, that the public realm has just fallen apart. Not to mention austerity and the impact cost cutting has had on the lives of ordinary people. There is a massive difference between the two main parties, don't ever believe anyone who tells you they are all the same. Labour are far from perfect, but they do genuinely care about ordinary people.

RolyPolyJamSandwich · 24/05/2024 17:09

A bit OTT, but yes, I agree that UK economy will be further destroyed if Labour comes to power. Definitely going to be a sh!tshow

It was a parody of recent handwringing posts suggesting the end of the world is nigh.
