To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

I heard he's going to do a deal with the Russians and they'll turn the UK into a gulag and we'll all be reduced to living on raw turnips and candle stubs 😜

Raw turnips? Candle stubs?

Here in Labour 🌹run Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿turnips are for the elite. The rest of us eat coal dust. That way we burn better when our Socialist Overlords need heat and light.

You have been warned!😡

I’m also worried Labour can’t manage the growing threat of AI. Only this morning my robot hoover gave me what I can only describe as a “funny look”, shortly after BBC Breakfast reported the latest opinion poll. It cowered when Rishi did his speech the other day.

I’m planning on watching the Mad Max films to prepare but I’m not sure whether to watch them in order of release or in chronological order of when they are set.

May I suggest "A boy and his dog", "When the wind blows" and "Threads".

You and robot hoover can settle down to watch together

Beekeepingmum · 24/05/2024 15:53

Its always the way in the films isn't it - scene one the wealthy have to pay a little bit more for school fees leading to scene two zombie apocalypse.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 24/05/2024 16:03

i mean - your not going to get much support on here, mumsnet is quite left! - TBF, i do think you sound a bit hysterical tho! (i am a tory btw)

Rishi, is that you?

“AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?”

That’d be a step up from where it is now, tbh.

No

Notreat · 24/05/2024 16:23

If this is a serious post and.not and not posted by Conservative central office I fear for your sanity!
I have lived through both labour and conservative administrations and worked for both.
And I can 100% say things were much much better under the Labour administrations.
And Keir Starmer is far, far from a Marxist!
He is a grown up very intelligent and thoughtful person interested in service not his own vanity. Something we haven't had in a PM for a long time.

TiredCatLady · 24/05/2024 16:24

I mean from where I’m standing it already looks like a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hellscape. Personally I'm just worried for Larry. I wonder if he’d like to come live with me instead.

WishIMite · 24/05/2024 16:24

YANBU I will be forced to emigrate and also become a man

sad

IthinkIamAnAlien · 24/05/2024 16:24

Mad leftist liberal? What does that even mean? It must be a quote from the Express, Mail or the Sun. About as stupid as the woman in a queue the other day who told me that trade union leaders and their huge salaries were the problem!!!

Barren wasteland is what this country is now, high prices, unavailable goods and medicines, broken health service, highest homeless nation in Europe, shortages of everything including jobs, corrupt politicians and business leaders, derply divided and unequal. God help us if the idiots reelect the Tories.

Parody post or is the Daily Mail getting desperate?

worcesterpear · 24/05/2024 16:25

Op isn't working for Conservative central office, more like a Labour activist trying to be funny.

Bululu · 24/05/2024 16:25

Yes, but not many people would care. The envy is deeply rooted in their brains since school. Have you read their response to the VAT in private schools. “ or they would have to just not go on holidays to pay for it. “ Bloody hell that one is really shocking. We are talking about people who work hard and aspire to have a good life. Now a holiday is seen like an extravaganza. Utter madness specially in a shitty weather like the British weather. KS main policy is just politics of envy and division of course this would be a shit show of giant proportions and mainly for the middle class. Rich will flee or have already been doing for a bit and the poor will be supported for a while but just you wait for the images of people eating from the rubbish.

Theunamedcat · 24/05/2024 16:26

Seriously if the Conservative government had done anything other than screw the country they would have nothing to worry about

DeeCeeCherry · 24/05/2024 16:26

😂😂😂

Sorry OP Im imagining you saying that im an especially shrill voice

i thought the other day it had been settled that MN was full of the far right?
I'm confused.

Am going to watch The Road to get some tips. Then read Station 11 for hope.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 24/05/2024 16:28

Going to school will be the least of your worries if you think civilisation is about to collapse OP.

frankentall · 24/05/2024 16:28

The OP isn't the first post from a new user in the early hours of the morning unlike the many similar posts there have been recently 😂

badatdecisions · 24/05/2024 16:28

Labour and Tories are identical at this point, nothing will be any different. Except hopefully the stupid idea of the Rwanda scheme will be scrapped.
