To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

You forgot to mention that it's an open invitation for an alien invasion; and that it'll be a second Atlantis as we sink beneath the waves.

This would also be bad for house prices.

TuesdayWhistler · 24/05/2024 13:37

It'll be fine if you're a decent earner middle class style with a gate on your drive.

If you're working class and you've seen the world about you changing already, it's only going to get worse.

Sunnyandsilly · 24/05/2024 13:37

Think vat is being punted just not openly, due to the negative impacr on state,

Caffeineislife · 24/05/2024 13:40

I’m more concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will mean CFs will think its ok to park on my drive. Im not sure I will have stockpilled enough wine to have a cheeky few drinks so I can't move my car and block them in.

IClaudine · 24/05/2024 13:13

Will we all have to dress like Effie Trinkette?😬

gosh i hope so. I have already stockpiled ridiculous shoes and eyelashes. Boy I'm going to have egg on my face if we don't.

A change is as good as a rest...

This is the problem. They all think that you’re joking, and it’s funny.

but what you’re saying is closer to the truth than anyone dares imagine because they are blinded by their normalcy bias and ego investments.

unfortunately the only way out is through, but at least those of us that can see it are somewhat prepared. All the rest will be in a very very bad state as things progress the way they’re destined to.

Good luck!

The only way out is through…what??

Don’t leave us hanging, Brumhilda.

Through…the looking glass? Hallucinogens and high tea for everyone!

Through…the keyhole? Judgey Bostonian drawl pushes us all to aspire to live in a house like this.

Through…the wringer? Well, that ones’s been sorted thanks to the Tory fuckwits.

Barleysugar86 · 24/05/2024 13:48

No- just you. I'm actually concerned this will happen if we stay with the conservatives. We are already losing our libraries and museums. Our hospitals and schools are almost wrung out to nothing. High house prices aren't a good thing, the conservatives pumped them high for their own financial gains, it has actually been an awful thing for the country.

Starmer is not left wing 🤣 He's centre right

Nothing has been sorted by the Tory fuckwits any more than anything has ever been sorted by the Labour fuckwits before them.

The way thinks will play out will be independent of whoever is in Downing Street pretending to make decisions.

Jeezo. As opposed to the barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape we are already in….?

OokBook · 24/05/2024 13:57

Oh I've just got the sarcasm 🫣

JohnCurtice · 24/05/2024 13:57

Not sure why you’re worrying about house prices when your house is going to be requisitioned and given to an Albanian. 😭

Brooks11 · 24/05/2024 13:59

You forgot to mention a male relative or two (BIL or step son or nephew) who are big earners but are going to retire/ move abroad/ cut their hours by 50%. Please frame this inexplicitly as a threat.

NeedANewPhone1 · 24/05/2024 13:33

I'm pretty sure this happened a long tine ago...

Have you met a cat?

I actually think that the amount of anti dog posts on here is because when my cat walks over my keyboard, he is actually mastering chat gtp to infiltrate mumsnet and bring down dogs!

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/05/2024 14:00

No.

Ah! Sarcasm.

Of all the dystopian futures, I think I’m most ok with being enslaved by cats.

Chocolateorange22 · 24/05/2024 14:01

Have you got your tin hat, nuclear fall out shelter and six months of rations sorted yet?

Watch out it's going to be a tough ride ...

SabreIsMyFave · 24/05/2024 14:02

It's like that now @Fiftypencepiece

Ylvamoon · 24/05/2024 14:03

... running to the shops to stockpile bog roll...

Mnetcurious · 24/05/2024 14:03

lol you mean it isn’t already after 14 years of the tories ruining everything?!

Blahblah34 · 24/05/2024 14:06

Which is why I'll be leaving the country on the morning of 5th July to go to Saudi Arabia where the income tax is a reasonable 0%. The kids will stay at Eton and we may visit when we come back for Wimbledon, if Keir hasn't cancelled it because tennis isn't woke enough.
