To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

Well, buckle up as it’s about to get much worse. I know how much you must hope someone will come riding in, and Labour will save you from your misery. But it isn’t true, and I’m sorry your life isn’t better, but faux hope will lead to serious disenchantment and despair.

People going "it's a joke!" about the OP, you've got to admit it's increasingly hard to tell on here a people actually do doom and gloom and fear monger in all seriousness on here as well, see it all the time ,🙄😁
Hope this one is apparently a joke too, otherwise oh dear.

You really don’t get it do you. The last laugh and all that….

They're going to win this one. No one trusts the Tories.

Going by the numbers not standing again, it looks like there are a lot of the current Tory MPs who don't trust the Tories.

Whatafliberty · 25/05/2024 09:37

No but I think it might if they don't.

Sorry but anything is currently preferable to this car crash. I can’t even believe anyone would be championing the Tories at this stage. I imagine you are just a bit worried about paying more for private school? 🤔

What that graphic doesn't convey @blossomtoes, is the fact that all that debt under the Tories delivered nothing but destruction of public services. What have they done with it?

I know. They managed somehow to rack up more debt in the austerity years. There’s an enormous black hole somewhere that money’s been poured into.

Polishedshoesalways · 25/05/2024 10:04

What money?? Seriously you have no clue as to the perilous state of the country do you. Labour sold off the family gold for a cut price and still left billions of debt and austerity barely touched the sides. We are living beyond our means and have been for decades!

Do I really need to post that graph again? You’re making yourself look more ridiculous with every post.

You are beginning to sound unhinged and sinister. No one gives a shit about graphs! Anyone can produce one to support any argument fhs!

Polishedshoesalways · 25/05/2024 10:16

The non workers are on here bashing away about the tories and can not see the problem with Labour. They appear to be without the bandwidth to actually consider why people can’t vote for them, unless they can hear other views they will never understand and therefore Labour will never ever win.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 25/05/2024 10:19

🙋I give a shit about graphs actually. Well presented data from a trustworthy source is slightly more convincing for me that people harping on about magic money trees and revising history.

"Non workers"? What are you on about?

Labour is going to win the GE. Even Sunak knows that. Even his own MPs, who are deserting the sinking ship, know that.

True up to a point, but if you read into the effects of austerity on national economies, the news is far from universally good. When small government becomes an ideological position rather than a fiscal one, you're tanking your economy - hence where we are now (and that isn't including the adverse financial effects of Brexit, which are still coming at us).

@blossomtoes isn't the unhinged one here.

Fiftypencepiece · 25/05/2024 10:21

I heard today at the tennis club that if Labour wins, cash will be burned in wheelbarrows at the end of every street, and that a barter based economy based on fuel and agricultural products will be brought in. Is this in the manifesto? It sounds exactly what happened in the 70s.

What’s convincing me is looking at what happened the last time Labour were in power, and the time before that. For those of us old enough to remember both stints it was pretty horrendous!

Do you genuinely believe that Labour won't win this election? Going to put some money on it? Your returns will be fantastic if you're right, best get down to the bookies today.

Also assuming that everyone who votes for Labour doesn't work is rude, not to mention hilariously inaccurate.

Edited

Lots of pp on here invested in feathering their nests paid for by the tax payers and hoping for more from Labour. Nothing to do with wanting the best for the country.

🙋‍♀️ Me too. Really love facts simply and clearly illustrated.

There are plenty of us who remember both stints.

The truly horrendous time (other than the current nightmare) I remember was under Thatcher.

I'm old enough (just) to remember the winter of discontent. I'm well and truly old enough to remember the Blair years - when we got a minimum wage, funding for the NHS and education, when things were SO MUCH BETTER than they are now. Was the Blair/Brown era perfect? No. Was it substantially better than where we are now? Hell yes.

The only issue is that Labour bankrupted the country by doing so! We didn’t have the money for the disastrous overspend!!!

Hell no, I don’t want to see the country bankrupt again thanks to Labour!

How on earth would you know whether someone on here is a non worker or not?!
Not everyone who votes Labour is out of work you know!
