To think the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, hell-scape if Labour win?

AIBU to be worried that within 2-3 years of a Labour victory, the UK will become a barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape?

Kier Starmer seems like a mad, leftist radical to me. It starts with VAT on school fees but where does it end???

I’m also really concerned that the imminent collapse of civilisation will have a big impact on house prices, and leave us in negative equity.

Anyone else?

And your children are marched off to the re-education camp that Raynor is setting up in an ex-council house.

The funniest thread on MN today - keep 'em coming!

They were the "best" for you because you were a public sector worker. You have to appreciate that different demographic groups are affected in different ways and that plenty of other people didn't benefit from the Blair/Brown years.

This is true @taxguru . I also have good memories of the Blair Brown years but most probably because I was young, fit and the world was opening up for me. Blair and Brown probably had little effect if I'm honest (although I did vote for them)

Children are starving, the NHS is about to be sold off, people can’t get an ambulance, see a GP or an operation, education is pants with teachers leaving in droves but that Kier he’s going to put VAT on private school fees.

I mean that will just end the country won’t it, how will we all survive, VAT on private school fees, how very dare he, taxing little Tarquin at Eton, it’s an outrage, get back to taking benefits off the poor!

Tarquin will be sent to a re-education camp and Eton will be transformed into a multi gender awareness centre.

You can mock me, but you won’t be laughing when your house is forcibly requisitioned by the state to be converted into a collectivist art therapy centre.

😂I don't remember that happening last time there was a labour government? If they could re-open sure start centres though, and reduce CAMHS waiting lists for teenagers to below a year that would be great.

They were best for anyone who needed the NHS.

Ffs 🙄 so much twaddle being written by tory idiots 🤣

Twazique · 24/05/2024 18:38

Just like the barren hellish place it was in the 90s! 😂

We need an anti-war, pro-trade party (which includes trade with Russia and China) in order to stop this country becoming a barren waste-land. There is a new trade route that comes through the top of Russia and right past Britain. If we got over our colonialist, war-mongering we could actually be an important cog in that trade route and find a wealth of opportunity. Russia also has the most similar food standards to us, actually a little better. We need fresh politicians who understand our laughable place in the current world climate and work to improve it. This is not on the cards with any of the political parties we are being asked to choose between.

I do believe Britain is set to fail and I do think it will affect house prices, living costs and quality of life but I think that is irrespective of what political party we vote in because frankly, none of them are making any noise about change. Its all just flavours of the same.

JLou08 · 24/05/2024 18:42

Wow 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This can't be a serious post???

VivX · 24/05/2024 18:44

VAT on school fees to a "barren, post-apocalyptic, dystopian hell-scape" in 2-3 years.😂😂

But yeah, apart from the VAT on school fees how will it be noticeably different from now?

Oh was it sarcasm? The shame I thought it was the rant of a mad person. My bad.

Sadly I have had a number of conversations over the past few days with people talking about leaving the UK if labour gets in so I was feeling particularly prickly and just read the OP first post and then started typing.

as you were people. Sorry!

Tory and Reform voters (well Tory in its current form anyway) threatening to leave if Labour get in? Sounds great. Bon Voyage.....

Well I wish my holidays were extravaganzas.

@IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour Do you not see the irony in saying "we need an anti-war pro- trade party (which includes Russia...) ???

I listen to most of the speeches of big political actors and its quite clear to me that Russia wants no threats on its borders and otherwise good trade relations. Even if we don't like what Russia does or how it goes about its business, we are a tiny island nation in Europe and Russia is our nearest and biggest food exporter. We simply don't have the ability to keep up this 'oh well you do things I don't like so we snub you' honestly. The majority of oils and grains fed to farms in the Eu are from Ukraine and now the grain deal is over, we need to start making our own deals even if we don't like the people selling the grain.

Britain just isn't a large enough or influential enough player to be picky right now.

Polishedshoesalways · 24/05/2024 19:03

And we all be forced to be hairy, live in identikit houses, the nhs will finally collapse as Starmer realises too late that capital flights DO happen and most of them beating an exit are nhs consultants!

How is Moscow this fine evening?

So, no different from the Tories, then?

Sorry, not RTFT, but I just couldn't resist.

Hang on a minute, you announced it was Friday night and you were flouncing off to burn £5 notes in front of someone living on the street - how come you’re here?

Poopatrolonthetoiletroll · 24/05/2024 19:06

All fur coat and no knickers these clowns pleading poverty about paying vat on school fees. Candidates are a choice of shoddy goods.
