Caucasian parents with brown and blue eyes, children's eye colour?
Julie010177 · 09/08/2021 18:40
Hi everyone, sorry I was not sure in what subject I should post this.
I'm curious to find out the eye colour probability of children whom caucasian parents have blue and brown eyes, to see what are the odds my child could have blue eyes, if I had one more.
My dad had brown eyes, my mum has blue eyes, I have brown eyes, my toddler has brown eyes but his dad has blue eyes.
If we had another child is the chance him/her having have blue eyes about 50/50 or less?
Does anyone's family have similar eye coulours and what were the children's eye colour?

It would be 50/50 - you have bb your partner Bb so options would be - Bb Bb bb bb -two of the four would give blue eyes.

Also meant to add and I know it's not the same - neither DH or I have red hair. But we both have red-headed cousins so clearly have the gene somewhere.
Out of our three kids, two are blonde, one red-headed.

Agree with above that it's 50/50 depending on which gene you pass on
My dad has brown eyes, mum blue, both me and BD have blue eyes

Every child has a 50% chance of having brown eyes in your case, assuming same partner

DH parents are brown and blue eyed. Eldest brown eyed, two sisters blue and DH has green.
WithASpider · 11/08/2021 08:20
Me - light brown
DH - blue
GPs - dark brown, grey, Hazel, blue.
DCs - dark brown, Hazel, blue.
In your case it's probably 50/50

Dh has really dark brown eyes, mine are bright blue. One kid has really dark brown eyes, the other 2 have sort of grey, grey-brown eyes. None of them have blue.

My parents were 1 brown, 1 blue, both brown hair. Brother has blue eyes I have grey with a brown patch (inherited through blue eyed parent we think as sibling has the same marking).
My DC (married someone with blue eyes/blond hair) have blue eyes (match Dad pretty well exactly) and greenish grey. Blue eyed child has red hair, green eyes is blond!
I've had 2 DC

As I understand it there has to be a grandparent on each side with blue eyes to give a chance of their grandchildren having blue eyes even if the other grandparents and parents have brown eyes.

I don't think that's right as blue is recessive. You can have generations of brown eyed people with a blue gene.
purplesequins · 11/08/2021 08:36
blue x 2
brown x 1
1 fair hair
1 dark brown
1 dark with a hint of ginger
1 'blue' white skin
1 light cream
1 milky coffee
