What's bad about an iphone?

Having had bloody nightmares in the past (with various phones going all crap on me) would you seriously reccommend an iphone?

I love mine, the only fault is the camera which is awful.

mumhadenough · 31/12/2009 00:35

I agree the camera is completely shite, but other than that its fabulous. I've had mine for 3 months now and I'm still madly in love with it!

Matchingcardiganandtop · 31/12/2009 00:37

I could not live without mine, well obviously I could. I use it for so much.

HinnyPet · 31/12/2009 00:40

Well I had a Satio - purely for the camera being AWESOME - the phone, however was shit. CW eventually agreed to cancel the contract.

DH bought me a camera for Christmas so I'm thinking that now I have that handy in my bag to snap pics - instead of a mobile phone - should I get an iphone then???

The iPhone is AMAZING! I'm posting from it now. Makes it easy to go on MN all the time (hang on, that probably is the only bad thing about it - it's far too easy to be on here ALL the time, and I never get anything done!).

GracieW · 31/12/2009 01:06

The cost

tigerbear · 31/12/2009 01:06

Btw, the iPhone is the only phone I've ever been able to use with ease, and I'm a proper technophobe.

Matchingcardiganandtop · 31/12/2009 01:09

I have a little camera that I keep in my bag. I do the odd photo on my i phone that goes straight onto facebook.

I am not a techy person at all and love my i phone

Nyx · 31/12/2009 01:29

I love my iPhone too. I can't think of anything I don't like about it, I use it all the time for reading books on, checking the tv schedule with the radio times app, checking weather forecasts, mumsnet (of course), facebook, some games although I've never been that big on games - I love bejewelled etc, I love the touch screen keyboard for texting, i'm with o2 and love that although my tariff is £45 a month - I went on that because I got the actual iPhone free on that tariff - there are so many minutes/texts/photo messages included that my bill is rarely a penny over that. In fact the very last thing I use it for is as a phone! Love all the apps and that loads of the good ones are free.

Oops - a bit of an essay

£45 a month - eek!

My mobile bill is usually around £3 a month.

I bought my DD an Ipod Touch and it can do everything an Iphone can do apart from phone calls and photos, which her regular phone obviously does for a fraction of the cost of an Iphone.

blowninonabreeze · 31/12/2009 06:47

DH has bought one recently and I have to agree that it is fabulous, BUT the reception on it is terrible (we do live in the sticks) but my 2 year old phone is on the same network and gets much better reception.

Drives me crazy. What good is a phone if no one can reach you no matter how good the games are

fanjolina · 31/12/2009 09:36

You can't use it for texting/emailing if you have long nails.

Hence why I don't have one

HerBeatitude · 31/12/2009 09:52

mvenjump - how on earth do you get your mobile phone bill to be only £3 a month? I thought I was doing well at £15...

Fruitbatlings · 31/12/2009 10:02

I adore mine. Got mine through T-mobile (not advertised though, they are quite tight with who they give them out to) I paid £78 for the 16gb 3GS and pay £35 per month for 800 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. Bargainous if you ask me

Only bad thing is there is no flash on the camera

DrZeus · 31/12/2009 10:03

Got an iPhone 3GS and love it. Pay £35 a month for 600 mins and 500 texts on O2, which is more than I used to pay but I now make all my calls on it instead of home phone. Also lots of really good apps to download. Couldn't be without it now,

RustyBear · 31/12/2009 10:16

I've had mine for a year and the only faults I've found so far is that it doesn't do Flash and that you have to take your gloves off to use it....

RockBird · 31/12/2009 10:39

Yes, no Flash so you can't play Farmville on it . Other niggles are that although it has Bluetooth, it's only for connecting headsets etc, you can't bluetooth pics etc to another phone. Only other thing is that you can't save to it from the internet (you can in the app store and iTunes store). So yesterday I was browsing for ringtones and it told me I could listen but not download them without connecting to iTunes. But these things don't seriously bug me in any way. I'm on my third iPhone (due to obsessive upgrades, not breakages!) and I absolutely love it. I will never buy another type of phone again.

I have an iphone, I got it free on a £35 per month contract.

My dd got an LG cookie for Christmas.

My dh says he prefers the LG.

FimBOW · 31/12/2009 10:46

I agree about it running out of charge quite quickly.

DrZeus · 31/12/2009 11:37

Forgot to say if you register with Quidco, get your phone from mobiles.co.uk you (through Quidco) can get £60 off an iPhone.

RustyBear · 31/12/2009 11:39

There are a few things you can do to make the charge last longer - I have the screen brightness turned down to just under halfway, which makes a big difference. I also turn off stuff I'm not currently using, like Bluetooth, location services & 3G when I'm at home & I don't have email push on, so it's not looking for new emails all the time, only when I want to read them. It's really cut down on the need to recharge.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 31/12/2009 12:14

I've got an LG Cookie but want an iphone for all the apps.

The benefit of an iphone over a touch is that you're constantly connected to the internet. Many apps won't work and the internet won't work unless you're connected to wifi. I want it to work on weekends away so am going for an iphone.

GracieW · 31/12/2009 12:45

DH really wants one, has his calls paid for by work and has a crappy handset.

Anyone know where we can pick one up for less than £350 with no contract?
