Having had bloody nightmares in the past (with various phones going all crap on me) would you seriously reccommend an iphone?

I think the sound quality issues are more for the person on the other end. Our senior management have iphones and it's terrible trying to talk to them. They don't notice it, but everyone else does. We are in Greater London so not really the Sticks.

But... the iphone has a lot of funtionality that is not really business related and (basically the aps and other stuff that iphone does), and those things work really well.

I have an ipod which I use primarily for running on a treadmill. It plays videos straight to the treadmill screen, shuffles them, talks to my nike + sensor in my running shoe, and I love it. The treadmill doesn't always work properly (ie have problems with video shuffle sometimes) but the ipod works really well.

Interested to see mention of "unlimited" internet access with T-Mobile. Just wanted to check there's no small print which says 'fair use policy applies' - only cos the majority of ISPs (on landlines) used to claim "unlimited" but actually did have some restrictions, and with the iPhone, so far as I knew, only O2 was really offering unlimited web use (though I wonder whether they'd bump up the monthly fee or stop someone if they streamed a radio service 24hrs a day?)

Perhaps someone not on O2 with "unlimited" internet can confirm it's truly unlimited (or have you just never been heavy downloader to get in trouble with the network provider?).

Thanks.

Thanks said HinnyPet - various different mobiles at present, but none which I am using for internet access. Looking at iPhone vs Android based ones, but data traffic/ listening to radio would be something important, and have seen some relatively low limits (like 750 MB a month) which one could exceed in a day on a home broadband connection as a heavy user.

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 07/01/2010 18:55

I have just had my latest bill from O2 and my data usuage for the last month was 270 mb which equates to 9mb a day. I spend a lot of time online on the I phone and dowloads BBC I player programmes to watch. The email is always on too so I think the data bolt on for 7.50 a month is good value. What does annoy me is the fact that if you load an e book you can't pass that onto another I phone user as they have n't purchased it. It appears apple own the copywrite to any books they sell too.

The e-book issue was mentioned only a few days ago on one of the 'commentator' pieces (Friday 20:50 or Sunday 08:50 - listen here)

Now I've been to the website it was "A Point of View" with Lisa Jardine... While she loves physical books, she can see the wide use of electronic versions 'coming' but a) likes the ability to share b) likes the fact there can be personal notes added to a book (she is a respected historian, and explained how one note was really interesting to her, in the programme) In case anyone missed it and wants to catch up, it should be downloadable [[http://webstore.drivehq.com/sound/R4-LJ-2010-01-08.mp3 here (unfortunately the BBC seemed to lose the last part of this - perhaps just 15 seconds, perhaps lots more, because they insist on darn adverts for other programmes, and screw up the recordings as a result!

(I used to record 24x7 but am planning on getting some larger hard drives to be able to store a couple of years of Radio 4, Radio 5 and Radio 7).

Gah - sorry about that! Sound clip - approx 4 MB
