Year 13 2024/2025 - support, discussion and looking after each other - continuation from year 12 thread

I've just realised that the year 12 2023/2024 thread is full - oops! - last message on 16 August - don't know if someone started another continuation thread but I can't see it. This coming year DS1 does A levels and university applications, DS2 will be in his GCSE year.

If there is a thread already started please let me know.

Sorry to hear of the issues that some of the kids are having. Hope it improves for the rest of the exams.

DD had her last one yesterday, I can't believe they're over really, now for the waiting...

I'm glad to not have to get up early to get her to her bus though.

DS had aqa maths and said lots didn’t finish.

I think the vast majority found it pretty awful which will be reflected in the grade boundaries

Another edexcel maths here, DS1 finished but found it much harder than all the past papers he has done.

Hopefully 🤞. DC said that even the Further Maths students found it challenging. It’s really knocked DC’s confidence.

Four exams left to go next week.

@Earlymornyawn oh your poor DC. It was a monster paper. My DS is in year 12 ( sits FM in year 13) and has been really quiet after it. Like your DC I think it's really knocked his confidence. Fingers crossed that paper 3 allows them to make up some ground.

DC1 was pretty unhappy with AQA maths today as well - had a couple of questions that she was planning to return to and finish, and ran out of time.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew sorry to hear that. That’s how my DC felt, didn’t manage all the questions.

DS2 also thought Maths paper 2 was much harder than paper 1….
Let’s hope the grade boundaries and paper 3 are kind.

Ds said lots didn’t finish aqa maths today.

Dd did.edxcel maths.today said the first part was OK second half hard but she attempted it all. She currently stressing over paper 2 biology as she hasn't studied it enough. I'm hoping it's just nerves as I haven't seen her in.weeks. Just next week's 4 to face then. Not helped by her scottish cousins saying he's doing higher biology in a year as it's apparently easy!

My DD didn't finish her Edexcel maths paper 😢
She said she missed a whole eight mark question and had barely started the previous one.

Exactly the same here @jamimmi. Bio and Fm tomorrow. Not feeling ready for biology. Then 4 more next week. Still feels like so much but at least over half way now.

I think a second tomorrow would have finished her. She didn't quite finish her chem.on Monday which hasn't helped. Hope all goes well for them both tomorrow.

DS2 said maths (Edexel) was "alright but not as good as P1". He's also got FM maths and biology tomorrow. He had a nightmare in the last FM paper and didn't get to the last question worh 12 matks, so I know he's stressed, but doesn't want to talk.

I feel your pain. It’s difficult when they feel they haven’t done their best and missed things. Hopefully, grade boundaries will be kind and paper 3 will be better.

My DC was happy with chemistry but has now been revising further and is now stressing as realising that some of their answers may have been wrong ☹️. Will be so pleased at the end of next week when it’s all over.

@changes17 his timetable shows Biology this morning, FM this afternoon. Biology Wednesday then Maths Thursday afternoon. Unless I'm reading it wrong 🙈

FM - may depend what options you have picked. DS1 has FM (stats) this afternoon.

Ah DS2 is also doing stats this afternoon

Last one today for my dd - she just wants it over. Unfortunately it’s not until this afternoon (sociology)

Biology this morning and sociology this afternoon.. not ideal - lots of anxiety and overwhelm about remembering everything . Just hope biology p2 is kinder than p1 was ..
