I've just realised that the year 12 2023/2024 thread is full - oops! - last message on 16 August - don't know if someone started another continuation thread but I can't see it. This coming year DS1 does A levels and university applications, DS2 will be in his GCSE year.

If there is a thread already started please let me know.

It sounds as of all are finding it stressful as they come to the end. I think they are all tired as it is relentless. Ds biology as well today and not that positive.

Changes17 · 13/06/2025 10:13

It is a stressful thing to do. They will all be finished soon, though. Looking forward to that!

Beabea8 · 13/06/2025 11:47

Just waiting for my son to come out of OCR Biology 🙏

autumndays13 · 13/06/2025 12:33

AQA biology - DD just sent quick message to say it was good. Much better than paper 1. Big relief after the wobble with maths yesterday

mumonthehill · 13/06/2025 12:56

WJEC biology and have been told it was 50/50. So not great but ok. I will be so relieved once Monday is done.

Beabea8 · 13/06/2025 14:15

Paper 2 OCR went well here. Fingers crossed 🤞

SheilaFentiman · 13/06/2025 17:15

FM (stats) seems to have been ok, not fab, not dreadful.

autumndays13 · 13/06/2025 17:22

Same here @SheilaFentiman

DS2 said his exams went fine. He went for a nap when we got home I think the heat and stress this week has him wiped put.

He's changed his mind again and wants to go to the leaver's do. I had already paid and didn't email the school to say he wasn't going, so it's fine and I'm glad he's going.

jamimmi · 13/06/2025 18:25

Dd reports aqa biology was more normal, but not sure how she's done. Taken a bit of a snooze and had lunch with me now working again. Offer of pizza take out from the expensive guten free place has been accepted to!

Thistooshallpass. · 13/06/2025 19:06

AQA biology far better than paper 1 and sociology good . 1 left !!

Hi, Maths Edexcel paper 2. Has someone heard about the 2 different papers rumor? I´m about to rise it with the exams officer at my kid´s school but I would like to know if anyone else here has an idea of what has happened, Thanks!

I think I saw something about it on WIWIKAU - my daughter heard rumour as well.

My son has seen it on a Mr Bicen tweet and the Student room plus one of his friemds told him that his exam had 16 questions but he thought it was a joke. What's WWKAU???

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 14/06/2025 17:03

@Lon24what I wish I knew about university fb page (think that’s where I saw it anyway)

mumonthehill · 15/06/2025 08:05

Heading to the last week for most of us I think! Finish here tomorrow morning and ds heading straight off to Cornwall for a few days. Last dc doing this for me and so relieved we never have to do this again!!! Good luck all.

Changes17 · 15/06/2025 09:11

DS finishes on Thursday - and has no plans bar a party on Saturday and our summer holiday next month. He’s started to talk about getting a job though.

@mumonthehill All the way through! That’s a big moment. I’ll be starting again as DD finalises GCSE options…

HebeJeeby · 16/06/2025 12:16

DD has just finished aqa chemistry paper 2 and said it was a shocker. Questions were nothing like any previous papers and phrased in really odd ways. Why on earth would the exam board throw in a massive curve ball like that and change their wording etc in the actual exam? Even their class chemistry superstar said it was the hardest exam he’d ever sat in his life, I just hope the difficulty is reflected in the grade boundaries.

Honeylemonandginger · 16/06/2025 12:54

My DD also reported the same about the aqa Chemistry.
Most of her friends and peers said it was a horrendous! She is talking about having to resit.😕

mumonthehill · 16/06/2025 12:59

Yep ds said half found it very hard. It was his last one so I think he was just relieved it was all over. Now we wait......

halloween67 · 16/06/2025 13:01

This has happened across several exams this year, it is awful.

jamimmi · 16/06/2025 14:31

This seems to be a theme.with aqa this year. OCR chemistry was "fine". Given she was throwing up last night I'm happy she made it.( inadvertently exposed to gluten at the wrong time)

GingerPussInBoots · 16/06/2025 14:51

feel bad for the kids doing it in this heat

BonjourCrisette · 16/06/2025 16:27

We are done! So relieved to have managed to make it through with DD reasonably cheerful all the way.

Best of luck to everyone for the rest of the exams.

Beabea8 · 16/06/2025 16:29

Ds felt today's Chemistry OCR was going teally well but ran out of time with 2 pages to go....
Hes predicted a C. I hope he can still do it 🙏

Why are the grade boundries for Chemistry so much higher than Biology for example?
