Year 13 2024/2025 - support, discussion and looking after each other - continuation from year 12 thread

I've just realised that the year 12 2023/2024 thread is full - oops! - last message on 16 August - don't know if someone started another continuation thread but I can't see it. This coming year DS1 does A levels and university applications, DS2 will be in his GCSE year.

If there is a thread already started please let me know.

@Beabea8 OCR (A) chemistry here, DC said it went well.
Computer Science tomorrow, DC seems nervous 😬.

That's good. From what I read online, it was meant to be a good paper. The organic chemistry is what my son is better at which is Paper 2. Im just glad hes doing them to be honest as MH struggles but just getting good help at the moment.

That's really good. I had heard it was a good one but ds still found it hard. Hes aiming for a C 🙏

Well dh not quite correct she didn't quite finish the paper missed 2 questions about 8 marks she said. Wants a b hopefully paper 2 is finished!

19th is our finish date too well I know it’s Ds’s but it feels like it’s mine

@Beabea8 hope your DC gets the grade he wants 🤞.
My DC seems to be getting more nervous as time goes on, really nervous about exam tomorrow and it’s one of their stronger subjects. Normally stressing about Maths.

Is that computer science?

DS2 finishes on the 19th too. His last exam didn't go well and it's usually his best, so concerned there's a downward spiral. He seems happy enough and doing a decent impression of The Very Hungry Caterpillar(!). No exams until Thursday, Friday is the one day he has 2. Hopefully it's not a Friday 13th horror show.

He's got zero plans for the summer which isn't great, but work is a tricky prospect with autism, anxiety and Essential Tremors in the mix. Maybe I'll get him tutoring DS4 in maths.

@NCTDN yes, OCR computer science.

Yes ds is strong with CS but says tomorrows paper is the most unknown.

DS2 has been following a revision video on YouTube which runs 10am to 4pm. He seems to rate it.

DC said that it went ok, one question was tricky and their favourite subject didn’t come up.

Anyone’s children just finished A level History today 9-11am? My son said it was ok but not as good as the last history exam. He found questions 1 and 3 ok but 2 hard it was on Tudors.

We are having our first meltdown today over biology tomorrow, apparently ds knows nothing and nothing will stick in his brain!! If I am sympathetic it is wrong and if I try and be helpful I am wrong. So odd this has come now so near the end.

Interested to know whether anyone sat the Edexcel Maths paper 2 today? Apparently it was a weird one.

Sorry to hear that @mumonthehill. I think we’re on the edge of a meltdown here. Maths (Edexcel) was odd and much harder than DD was expecting (she was expecting it to be fairly straightforward given she’s hoping to do maths at uni). She did finish and I think has probably done well but it really took it out of her. Now she has two exams tomorrow and is on the verge of feeling overwhelmed.

DS did. He thought he did worse on it than the previous one. He’s doing further maths and expected it to be fairly straightforward so it’s reassuring to hear others had a similar reaction.

My DC did, said it was awful, has been crying, couldn’t answer some of the questions 😞.
