@Monkey2001 how much protein does your ds have per day?! Ds is very committed but at the moment I think it’s 150g per day. He’s taken a load of protein bars and peanuts on his camp and says he’ll drink loads of milk at breakfast! I hope the leaders have bought enough milk! I don’t think he’s ever consumed 7 eggs in one go, that’s Mr Strong territory!

Monkey2001 · 09/08/2021 13:30

I think 150-200g of protein, but I don't really listen all the time! One day he had 14 eggs, but has since decided that 7 is best, but 5 when cutting!

Horace123 · 09/08/2021 13:34

@Monkey2001 - Thanks! I hadn't realised that.

NCTDN · 09/08/2021 13:50

@singingstones we're in England

My rent in the 90s was £25pw! That was in York.

crazycrofter · 09/08/2021 14:05

@Monkey2001 I also tend to zone out a little bit some of the basic principles seem to go in! Ds has 5 portions of 30g a day, I’m pretty sure he had the same when cutting but just fewer calories! He eats a lot of chicken rather than eggs!

Oblomov21 · 09/08/2021 14:07

My Ds1, still doing boxing, eats copious amount of protein: Eggs, cheese, milk, plain chicken.

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 09/08/2021 14:32

@Oblomov21 and @Monkey2001 if you have not got them already, have you considered keeping chickens in the garden Grin

🤣🤣

My DS rows and is also a protein freak. Chicken and eggs are the two main food stuffs. He particularly likes the M&S cooked packs when he is out all day. It's fascinating to see a teenager so interested in nutrition, completely unlike his older brother.

In a proud mother moment can I share that he's rowing at Henley on Wednesday 😊

Fferny1 · 09/08/2021 15:30

DS is also a protein freak. Sprinter & rugby player. He actually eats super-healthily and cook's pancakes & mug cakes ( occasionally) with his protein powder. Eats lots of full fat yoghurt & berries and raids the freezer for prawns.
In contrast ds2 eats junk.

Fferny1 · 09/08/2021 15:34

That's so exciting @Sandy. Are you going to watch? Good luck to your Ds.

SandyBayley · 09/08/2021 15:40

Thanks @Fferny1 - it is! Yes we are going but it is an absolute nightmare in terms of organisation. We're going to Croatia on Friday and that seems more straightforward 😬

But it is an amazing opportunity for him. I think he'll be the youngest competitor as he's not yet 16. I'd never have thought a child of mine would do such a thing. It's not something I'm built for and it's not something anyone in our family has ever shown an interest n.

crazycrofter · 09/08/2021 16:42

Wow, that's amazing @sandybayley! Hope he does well.

Monkey2001 · 09/08/2021 16:46

DS's GF and one of his friends also at Henley this week. Rowing is a very full-on commitment, she rows every weekend and has been away in Henley, Eton and Nationals in Nottingham in the last few weeks. Hope your DS does well!

Zebracat · 09/08/2021 16:50

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear people are ill. Im not well today but didnt consider COVID. Now wondering if I should get a Pcr test. Symptoms are upset stomach, nausea, headache and feeling really bleurgh. I was at a wedding last weekend so could have caught it, I suppose. But those symptoms aren’t on the list. Our girls having a full psych assessment currently, which took a year to arrange so cancelling would be awful, altho obviously better than infecting people. Dh is out and I’m not up to driving myself to a test.. just all the usual “ I can’t possibly be ill cos we have this, this and that to do, “ but with bells on . I will sort it.
Autumn term starts the week after next here, and we are away next week, so home work, additional reading, personal statements all need doing this week. Well it’s a test of her organisational skills because I have no energy.

SandyBayley · 09/08/2021 17:18

Sounds like their paths will have crossed @Monkey2001 . He's been in Nottingham, Henley and at Dorney as well. I'm slightly done with it for now. The early starts are killing me. It makes him very happy though.

hi Zebra. Not to alarm you but those were mine. Coughing came 2 days later. Hope you are OK though.

I feel considerably better today. Hopefully not a false dawn.

Oblomov21 · 09/08/2021 18:06

Yes to the 🐓and also a cow? 🐂

Love rowing, good luck Sandy ds. I always love that rowing 🚣‍♀️ is the calorific sport above boxing. Maybe that would be the answer to my food fetish. Nah. I'm a couch potato.

Oh dear Zebra.

Well done Esther ds.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 09/08/2021 18:08

Impressed with all the clean eating, high exercise dc on here: mine are subsisting on peanut butter sarnis, instant ramen and biscuits ;-) Very impressive stuff with the rowing, @SandyBayley!

Oblomov21 · 09/08/2021 19:32

Ds2 eats (minus a balanced diet I try to provide) nothing but Nutella, sausage rolls, sour sweets, beef hula hops and yum-yums.

Oblomov21 · 09/08/2021 19:32

and chicken super noodles.

Oblomov21 · 09/08/2021 19:34

And still manages to play football 6 hours every day on such crud, on our Dorset caravanning holiday.

ProggyMat · 09/08/2021 20:02

@Horace123 has your DS ‘narrowed’ down 5 Unis he’d like to apply to for Classics yet?

Horace123 · 09/08/2021 20:52

@ProggyMat - at the moment he is thinking of Oxford, Durham, Exeter, Edinburg and Kings College. No idea why Edinburg and not St Andrews. And Kings College seems to have come out of the blue. His school is very good with advice and he has a UCAS meeting already arranged with his tutor for second day back at school. I think they all sound very good but thought he needed a back up. Where is Proggy Junior applying?

NCTDN · 09/08/2021 21:39

Has anyone been on the Durham tours yet?
