Oh no. That does sound worrying TheFirst. I hope he is OK Flowers

NoHaudinMaWheest · 06/12/2018 21:41

ursula I hope you are recovering.

the first that is worrying. Maybe next term will be better once he has realised that he really needs to take care. A very tough lesson though.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/12/2018 23:36

DD's friend's flatmates have really turned on her friend, and now it is full on bullying. I am so sad for her as she is very similar to DD and really doesn't have the resources to deal with it. These flatmates are the same neanderthals who were so mean to DD about being vegetarian.

marmiteloversunite · 07/12/2018 09:28

Oh no the First you must be worried sick about him. I'm sorry.

Ursula I have some nice turbans you could borrow to cover the wound!

Lonicera they sound like truly nasty girls. You would hope that bullying behaviour would stop after school!

Third chemo for me this afternoon and then I will be halfway through. Yay!!

Also tiny brag. DD got a first in her first composition piece. Really pleased for her as the A level composition really brought down her grade. Good for her confidence.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/12/2018 09:31

Good luck for today Marmite, and well done to your DD.

The university was brilliant with DD's friend. They have moved her into new accommodation already. I am so happy for her.

marmiteloversunite · 07/12/2018 09:39

Lonicera that's great. Let's hope she has nicer flatmates!

LoniceraJaponica · 07/12/2018 09:52

So do I. DD likes to visit her friend, and was put off by her last visit.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 07/12/2018 10:25

marmite best wishes for today. And congratulations to your dd.

lonicera it is good that the university have acted. I hope next term is better for dd's friend.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2018 10:48

That's great for your dd Marmite, well done to her! and yay for being very very nearly half way there :)

dd seems to have been awarded a random bursary for no discernible reason. It's a nice surprise!

Marmite half way Flowers and great about the composition. gah, A levels were really quite random weren't they grrr - ds is still cross about his Pyscho essay being given a U in the final exam.
Hamilton songs are now pervading the house. Ds2, whose favourite in Matilda was Miss Trunchbull, has now decided he is George III and has created a personal playlist which is mostly royal. It is funny because ds1 never sang the George songs, yet sang all the others. Maybe ds2 just cannot rap!

Nettleskeins · 07/12/2018 11:29

First it is a long term - ds1 said he was really tired now. 12 weeks! the Oxford students have left now and they arrived two weeks after ds, so 4 weeks longer than the Oxford Uni term. Ds says he is taking his vitamin d 1000iu every day diligently but I still don't think he is eating normally, he said he hadn't even opened the cookbook he took back two weeks ago. And I still have no idea who he is friends with.

Ds1 took his tuxedo back in a knapsack for a choir performance. I'm hoping he might possibly let me glimpse some picture of him in an actual uni choir but not holding out much hope.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/12/2018 11:48

The first term at DD's boyfriend's university is 14 weeks! That is a long time without a break.

TheFirstOHN · 07/12/2018 12:29

marmite well done to your DD!
And well done to you for getting through 50% of the treatment.

Knotaknitter · 07/12/2018 15:21

TheFirst How do you cope with the worry when you can't see whether he's well or not?

Ursula did you feel a fool saying you'd hurt your head taking your wellies off?

TheFirstOHN · 07/12/2018 17:01

How do you cope with the worry when you can't see whether he's well or not?

It's fine, but luckily he is reasonably good at being in contact with us.

The good news is that he managed to see a GP today, they are doing a trial of a different medication and then will do a telephone consultation with him in two weeks (because he'll be back at home by then).

UrsulaPandress · 07/12/2018 17:03

Nah. I heard the junior doctor explaining to her senior colleague that I had injured myself taking my wellies off after walking the dog. I think they do it to ‘position’ you in the A&E hierarchy.

Well done to your DD marmite.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 07/12/2018 18:04

Yay to halfway through, marmite. Boo to head injury Ursula and poorly DS1, First.

I’ve not kept up, sorry. Just popping in with news about DS2. He’s just about keeping up with assignments in his HNC at pass level. But his exciting news is that he’s going to be on Brain of Britain next year! Shock Maybe he’ll become a professional quizzer after all! Grin

TheFirstOHN · 07/12/2018 18:12

How the head injury happened is relevant for them because it helps them estimate how much force was involved (e.g. falling from a first floor balcony is different from falling arse over tit on the same level).

Nettleskeins · 07/12/2018 18:40

when ds1 broke his upper femur aged 9 they kept asking the same question as we traversed the seven levels of the A & E to surgery over 24 hours.. How did you break it? to ds, and I thought it was an interesting clinical practice, as obvs they had in their notes, but it must be because every time you tell the story a relevant detail might come up which might have been left out before which you hadn't realised was important enough to mention.

The last time I tripped badly was wearing some very cheap ersatz uggs made of polyester fleece with no proper soles, and caught my foot on an uneven paving stone. I still have a sore spot on my knee bone, and since then I wear real shoes or none at all, bare feet are often safer than badly fitting shoes. It is a real shock when you trip badly, hope you are not too shook Ursula

UrsulaPandress · 07/12/2018 18:41

I’m a professional tripper upper.

But thank you for all your concern.

Nettleskeins · 07/12/2018 18:42

sorry, nothing to do with wellies (I was just thinking aloud about my horrid cheap "slipper" boots)

LoniceraJaponica · 07/12/2018 20:00

Has anyone heard how @FantasyandHope and her DD are doing? She hasn't posted for a while.

FantasyAndHope · 07/12/2018 20:38

Hi
Thanks loni I just seemed to have lost the thread
Dd returns home on the 23rd she’s doing well

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2018 20:45
