Accomodation arrangements sound stressful.
dd will have a place in college for her whole time there. It sounds quite ideal, except I think she could do with something a little quieter.

Marmite that is really good that she has found a housemate. You only need one, it is the glue. Still not sure just who ds has made friends with. But I know he goes out so he must have at least some acquaintances/mates.

ShanghaiDiva · 04/12/2018 08:57

Ds is looking for a house/flat with three of the boys from his current flat. They are all sporty and have reasonable standards of hygiene which is all ds cares about!
Apparently they have seen a house that has two bathrooms and lovely fluffy sofas - things have moved on since my student days of living in the red light district and houses with no heating!

marmiteloversunite · 04/12/2018 09:19

Nettles I feel like our children are quite similar. Love music and a bit socially awkward. I hope he finds someone to live with. It's just daunting that these young people get carried away with things like fluffy sofas but don't actually look at the practical side of the accommodation. It's s big financial commitment if they make a mistake. I suppose we can at least look at it online.

LoniceraJaponica · 04/12/2018 09:25

DD sounds similar to your DC Netttles and Marmite. Although she is coming out of her shell with having a job in retail.

marmiteloversunite · 04/12/2018 09:50

Lonicera maybe that's why we all get on so well. We understand each other's issues! Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 04/12/2018 15:46

Another offer today. DD has decided that she only wants to accept her first one, but thinks she has to wait until she hears from all of her choices. Does anyone know if this is the case?

raspberryrippleicecream · 04/12/2018 16:21

DS1 didn't wait for all his Lonicera when he had the two he wanted he withdrew from the last one. His course only offered after interviews so he didn't see any point in losing a day's school over an interview.

UrsulaPandress · 04/12/2018 19:50

I presume they are firm offers as she already has her results?

LoniceraJaponica · 04/12/2018 20:46

Yes, they are. The admissions tutors at the open days said that she woukd get immediate firm offers.

So, just back from Hamilton. ds1 came up by bus and went back by bus, and really enjoyed it. He is now talking about going to concerts in Westminster Cathedral...as it is sooo convenient.

I enjoyed it, but not as much as Dream Girls or the more trad musicals. dh thought it brilliant but not as brilliant as the Book of Mormon, ds2 intrigued but not blown away, ds1 thought it better on tape than in flesh. Girls adored it. I think we all suffered terribly from being in the Grand Circle where there was no leg room and we are all over 5ft 10. Never going to book a cheap seat again, although this was about 9 months ago I that committed myself and in a fit of optimism bought 6 tickets...as ds2 pointed out six tickets for the price of one comfortable seat!

I'm so glad I've seen it though. I look forward to hearing some of it again as a soundtrack.

Nettleskeins · 06/12/2018 00:05

Coda, from the alcohol poisoning,..ds1 said he hasn't drunk anything for the last two weeks, apart from one glass of cider. Feeling so ill afterwards has left its mark.

marmiteloversunite · 06/12/2018 09:51

Nettles we had seats in the stalls and had no room. I think they tried to fit in too many, very upright seats, when they had the refit. DD2 is obsessed with Hamilton so we know all of the words which probably helped when we went to see it. Next time I went to be in a box!! End of chemo treat maybe!

HardwickWhite · 06/12/2018 17:59

We've just had DD home for 5 lovely days. She has headed back this morning, and will have exams right up to the 21st. It seems that most of her friends have their exams right after Christmas instead, but we have a holiday planned after Christmas, so I'm glad she will be finished, and able to chill out with us rather than have her head in a book.

UrsulaPandress · 06/12/2018 18:13

I’m driving to see DD tomorrow to deliver a birthday cake for her one of her flat mates.

I spent yesterday in A&E having cracked my head open when the boot jack slipped whilst taking my wellies off. So much blood! Can’t wash my hair for five days so I think my offer to take dd out for lunch will be refused!

starfleet · 06/12/2018 20:13

Sounds nasty Ursula. Hope you're OK.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/12/2018 20:16

That doesn't sound good Ursula. Are you OK to drive?

UrsulaPandress · 06/12/2018 20:29

I’m sure I’ll be fine. Felt a bit woozy today but recovering all the time.

TheFirstOHN · 06/12/2018 20:38

Ursula hope that any concussion is minor.

DS1 is not all that well. His meds are not working. He has lost over a stone and is barely sleeping or eating. He vomits three or four times a week (not alcohol related) and two days ago he fainted.

He's going to try to go back to the GP tomorrow.

UrsulaPandress · 06/12/2018 20:43

That doesn’t sound good.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2018 21:07

That doesn't sound good TheFirst. Is it to do with previous health issues?

Ouch Ursula!

dd seems to have learned some cooking skills away. Hooray!

TheFirstOHN · 06/12/2018 21:07

We're due to pick him up on the 15th to bring him home for the holidays. Depending what DS1's GP says tomorrow, DH (who is also a GP) might go up this weekend, see how DS1 is, and possibly make the decision to bring him back a week early.

TheFirstOHN · 06/12/2018 21:09

Is it to do with previous health issues?

Almost certainly.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2018 21:10

That sounds like a good plan.

OP posts:
TheFirstOHN · 06/12/2018 21:14

I'm sympathetic but also a bit frustrated. He knows that he needs to do certain things to stay well, but instead thought he could keep up with the student lifestyle like his flatmates.
