Derek, fingers crossed that it all goes well tomorrow.

littledrummergirl I hope that your scare turns out well too, like Derek it's the not knowing that is the worst.

We have a week left before the two week holiday. It's a random week, he finishes early one day, has a performance on another and it's parent's evening. I'm holding my breath and hoping that I won't be called in, his attendance is still not back to normal but as student support has been involved he avoids any disciplinary procedures. Onwards and upwards and all that.

marmiteloversunite · 18/03/2018 23:22

So the stupid snow means that DD's violin exam has been cancelled and will now be after Easter. So annoying as I thought it was another stress that she could tick off after tomorrow. She also has her music A level recital on Tuesday so hopefully the snow will clear by then. School is closed tomorrow.

Bekabeech · 19/03/2018 06:14

Well DD has added splitting from her boyfriend to the stress factors. Hopefully this week will be better than last.

UrsulaPandress · 19/03/2018 07:43

Coursework still being 'done' here. Has to be with her teacher by Thursday for the teacher's one and only read through.

Dd has not been feeling well for weeks. I imagine it is lack of sleep in the main.

Hopefully Easter will allow a bit of respite.

And the snow can just do one.

Hardwickwhite · 19/03/2018 09:57

Derek my fingers are crossed for you and your DH today.

DDs mocks are finally finished. She is very pale and quiet, despite getting A* in the papers she has had back already. She sets herself such ridiculously high standards, it is going to be a tough few months for her I think.

derekthe1adyhamster · 19/03/2018 11:14

Thanks for all the support. I feel sick. I'm pretty sure it wont go his way.

Gosh all our kids are really going through the mill at the moment. Spoke to DS last night and he's feeling quite upbeat, despite his mocks being B C D. (He needs A A B).

Littledrummergirl, fingers crossed for you all Flowers

Littledrummergirl · 19/03/2018 11:16

I just wanted to let derek know that I've also been thinking about you today. I hope it goes well. Flowers

derekthe1adyhamster · 19/03/2018 12:05

A written warning!! Grin
I am so ecstatic! Thank you so much for all the support you've given me

Icouldbeknitting · 19/03/2018 12:16

^derek* thank you for letting us know, I've been thinking about you since I got up this morning.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2018 12:32

Brilliant! That is such good news Derek!

oh Bekabeech, thats really hard for your dd. I hope it doesnt throw her too much.

Hardwick my dd is the same. Its comforting to know that she isn't the only one. Its a real strain isnt it. Ursula I hope your dd picks up.

dd appears to think she has been granted a time turner, the amount of revision she believes she can fit in over Easter.

OhYou - today is better, and my poor old printer is in overdrive printing out past papers.

Littledrummergirl · 19/03/2018 12:56

Fanbloodytastic news Derek. I'm so pleased for you.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/03/2018 13:03

DD is beginning to panic as she has had 4 snow days this month and they will only finish the chemistry syllabus a week before the exams start.

As for summer she has boked a post A level holiday with 4 friends, then prom, then short break with boyfriend for her 18th birthday, then holiday with us.

Then, hopefully, some work experience to support reapplying to medical school for 2019 if she gets her grades.

Bekabeech · 19/03/2018 13:35

Oh Great news Derek!

chocolateworshipper · 19/03/2018 13:37

Yay derek !!! So happy and relieved for you.

Big hugs to everyone else and their DCs. Selfishly I am very pleased that DD isn't doing any exams and so doesn't have the same level of stress as your DCs.

Nettleskeins · 19/03/2018 19:09

we had a "meeting" with school today. I'm getting more and more used to the idea that ds is going to do very badly...hmm. He is still in a goodish mood though, very polite and cheery. Googling courses that require 2 Es and a Grade 8. Comforting that there are plenty!!! and who knew there was course in Scottish piping at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire Smile I'm sure you would never want for employment..one way or another

I'm still fixated on Salesman play, have now been reading all the critical essays...it is fun when you don't actually have to give anything in!

derekthe1adyhamster · 19/03/2018 19:15

I played the secretary in the school production of death of a salesman. At least I think it was a secretary. It was nearly 30 years ago...

Nettleskeins · 19/03/2018 19:19

not THE [laughing] WOMAN who gets given silk stockings? Or Jenny the secretary that sends poor salesman away... interesting lack of roles for women really in that play. Only downtrodden wife.

HesMyLobster · 19/03/2018 20:12

Oh that's brilliant news Derek what a relief! Have been thinking about you today.

DD got A stars in French and History but a D in Maths Shock

HesMyLobster · 19/03/2018 20:14

Oops, posted too soon!

She is far calmer about the situation than me, insists she knows exactly what went wrong (too many lessons missed in December for interviews/school show/Olympiad) then the first mock in January before she'd had chance to catch up.
She's adamant that she's all caught up now.
Parents evening on Thursday though, so we'll see if her teachers agree Confused

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/03/2018 20:33

Derek brilliant news!

DD got U for her Maths in her mock Lobster and also seems to think she can pull it round. Her prediction has now dropped to AAB though. Which is fine for all her offers but no room for maneouvre. She will be getting tutoring from her very Mathsy brother over Easter which will help.

Coursework still ongoing here. Also uni visits - Durham tomorrow and Liverpool at the weekend. UCL have just offered one after the Easter holidays which seems very late!

FantasyAndHope · 19/03/2018 20:46

beka
A girl asked for consideration for extenuating circumstances because she split up with her bf at a school my friends dd goes to I was gobsmacked
Congrats derek that must be a huge relief for you!
nettle
Dd is still working hard on English I wish I had the time to understand the texts.

Dd seems very tired but I suppose this is normal at this stage? As she increasingly becomes stressed cysts are flaring up which is worrying fingers crossed they stay a cyst and not an abscess

MsAwesomeDragon · 19/03/2018 21:48

I lost you all for a while there. I'm sorry to see so many are struggling with their health, as well as other issues.

Derek I'm so glad things went the right way for your dh. That must be such a relief.

I'm feeling very glad that dd hasn't got any coursework, all of her subjects are final exam only.

We haven't applied for finance yet, or accommodation. I think both of those will be Easter holiday tasks, when I have time to look out all the paperwork we need.

UrsulaPandress · 19/03/2018 22:27

I think splitting with a long term boyfriend is as much an extenuating circumstance as some I've seen.

doistayordoigo · 20/03/2018 07:23

Brilliant news derek , so glad it went in your DH's favour.

A lady I know went to an accommodation open day at the weekend with her daughter to discover that all of the on site accommodation had already been allocated to those who had accepted unconditional offers. Might be worth checking with the unis you're looking at that they don't allocate on a first come first served basis. Particularly annoying for her as her daughter does have an unconditional offer but can't accept it yet as she's still waiting for responses form two of her other applications.
