Just noticed we were running out of thread!

They inserted a drain into it. Her eye is now throbbing and she says it hurts to have it open. She isn't happy as she needs to be revising

FantasyAndHope · 29/05/2017 19:02

Thankyou all for your kind words ❤️

chocolateworshipper · 29/05/2017 19:10

You've probably already thought of this Fantasy, but it would be worth speaking to the exams officer at the school / college about whether special consideration can be given. In the meantime, could one of her friends record some revision notes that she could listen to through headphones whilst in hospital (sorry I can't remember what she's taking - not so useful if it's maths)

FantasyAndHope · 29/05/2017 19:30

chocolate
They are only internal exams. Not external, so there isn't a need to speak to the exams officer.
She's reading through her books, which is useful.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/05/2017 22:42

How is your dd doing Fantasy?

dd got details of her nuffield summer placement today. In a university department. It looks like a brilliant project, right up her street.

FantasyAndHope · 31/05/2017 11:53

OYBK
Drain is out it looks better it's still leaking pus etc and it's sore. She's also on her period so is feeling dreadful. She's at the doctors tomorrow as the pill hasn't helped her periods and I'm beginning to wonder if everything is linked possibly to PCOS and the pain endometriosis although her house mother flagged up possible underactive thyroid?

lashingsofgingerbeer · 31/05/2017 15:00

Fantasy your poor DD! That's awful for her to have to go through all that at such a young age! You must all be so worried for her - sending big hugs your way.

FantasyAndHope · 31/05/2017 21:27

lashing
She's strong! My fear is this abscess won't go because of the left over fibrous tissue

TheSecondOfHerName · 04/06/2017 22:15

F&H I hope your DD is feeling a bit better now.

DS1's internal exams so far have been mixed. Some papers hopefully a C, others not so much. In terms of predicted grades for UCAS, it's not looking great, but we'll see. He has both AS papers this week and the stress is definitely showing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/06/2017 22:21

I hope they go well TheSecond.

it's the heaviest week for dd, 4 as papers. Two next week then done.

raspberryrippleicecream · 04/06/2017 23:29

Three for DD.

Good luck to all.

ShanghaiDiva · 05/06/2017 05:37

Good luck to everyone this week!
fantasy - hope your dd is feeling better this week.
Ds has finished all his exams now. Got a 7 (he is taking the ib diploma so grades are 7 to 1) on his English interactive oral so 50% of English is now finished. He got a 7 in all his coursework pieces, but could be changed after moderation. He has had some rubbish English teachers in the past, but the one he has now is fantastic and he has found some enthusiasm for the subject.

Icouldbeknitting · 05/06/2017 10:09

TheSecond I hope it all goes well this week, at least the AS split the stress over two years.

Fantasy I hope that she's feeling better now. It's so hard to be taken seriously with period trouble, if I could go back in time I'd be having words with the younger me to go to the doctors sooner than I did.

I've looked on the calendar and we have five weeks left in this school year. Didn't that pass quickly?

FantasyAndHope · 05/06/2017 10:25

DD was at the doctors Thursday they've done tests for PCOS and she has ultrasound booked. Currently have a thread going about her health issues. It seems as though she needs to press the gp for a referral to a gynaecologist. She's texted this morning to say head of sixth wants to speak to her about everything. She's worried as she doesn't really want to explain her 'issues' to a man in school. Dr's she's fine with he has emailed me and says he wants to hear it from DD not me. House staff are becoming increasingly worried as DD is also been tested for iron deficiency etc which would explain her poor concentration levels and constant fatigue. There's also some friendship issues as DD is a bit fed up of friends going on about abscesses and makeup etc when they don't have a clue.

user1491401693 · 06/06/2017 18:57

Biology AS now completed. Today's paper not as good as the first one.

BUT SHE PASSED HER DRIVING TEST THIS MORNING. Third time lucky!

HesMyLobster · 06/06/2017 22:41

Congratulations to your dd User!

And to your dd Shanghai, sounds like a brilliant result for him.

Hope your dd gets some relief soon Fantasy, she's been through such a tough time.

Good Luck to all with Stats (or any other exams) tomorrow!

HesMyLobster · 06/06/2017 22:41

Sorry Shanghai, your ds not dd!
Autocorrect fail!

TheSecondOfHerName · 07/06/2017 00:08

A Y11 boy was killed in the nearby town yesterday in a knife attack. DS1 didn't know him personally, but has several friends who did. I was aware that knife crime is rising, but this brings it very close to home. I can't stop thinking about that boy (in the middle of his GCSEs) and the heartbreak his family must be going through.

UrsulaPandress · 07/06/2017 00:09

Oh that is dreadful.

If I think too hard the world becomes a very scary place.

raspberryrippleicecream · 07/06/2017 08:06

That's awful second.

Congratulations to your DD user and your DS Shanghai.

DD has Maths C2 this morning. She isn't having a great exam session, despite working her socks off, but is being very resilient and keeping going!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/06/2017 08:18

User, that's brilliant!! Congratulations to her.

Fantasy, I hope they can get your dd sorted and back on her feet properly.

TheSecond, that's awful :( really sad.

C2 for dd as well this morning. Hopefully it should be ok.

OP posts:
FantasyAndHope · 07/06/2017 08:31

Dd has had her bloods back and her results come back as clear but borderline PCOS.
Dd is frustrated. She is fed up of her periods. School are been good with everything which I'm pleased with

Icouldbeknitting · 07/06/2017 08:54

TheSecond It's a massive dose of perspective isn't it? Exams, predicted grades and all the other stuff that we think is very important are cut right down to size. If our children don't get the results they want they have other chances, other options - nothing is really final for them.

Fantasy I saw your other thread so I know that the blood results are pretty meaningless if she is taking the contraceptive pill. Can she come off it over the summer and have the blood work done again?

NoHaudinMaWheest · 07/06/2017 09:39

Fantasy sorry the results are inconclusive. It is so frustrating.

Good luck to those doing C2 and Statistics today.

DD has statistics. She should be fine content wise but her pain has ramped up in the last week with resultant brain fog so she was quite fed up this morning.

Icouldbeknitting · 07/06/2017 10:53

Did anyone hear from Exit after her exit?
