Biology (Edexcel) was ok with one or two curveballs apparently for DD today. What did other DC think?

DD has no exams until after half term. It was glorious day so we went out to the country and had lunch in a converted mill place. It was good to do something completely different.

Ds1 went back to school today after being ill for the last few weeks, I am so pleased.
He has one more maths after the holiday and then internal exams in June. The results of those go on his UCAS form so he will need to do well. I forsee plenty of coming up -for me, not him-

DD said the first bit of biology was "ridiculously easy" but the written bit was "really quite hard". Given that she immediately afterwards went to ask one of her teachers about it, I think she really did find the second section a challenge. Hard to gauge what that might mean in marks though...

Doc the 1984 question was something about comparing the use of technology in 1984 to that in Forster's The Machine Stops.
Not even close to the character or theme question dd was expecting/hoping for.

On reflection she's thought of loads she could have written but I think she was just thrown because it was so different to any of the question types they'd prepared for.

Oh yes I see the problem there then. Everything is so character driven in preparation for eng lot.

Any else have chemistry this morning? DS thought it was a fair paper, though he is kicking himself as he realised he had got a question wrong just as they were asked to shut their answer booklets. Oh well, a week off now to revise for the rest. 5 down, 5 to go.

Yup. DD was so happy about it she agreed to buy some summer clothes! Only three to go for her after half term.

Yep - another Distinction* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If she carries on like this in the second year, that means 112 UCAS points - enough to do the course she's interested in with just two qualifications!!!!

Huge amounts of luck to everyone with DCs doing exams - it's just a massively long wait to find out the results isn't it xx

Lost track again due to hectic work schedule and keeping up with all dds health apps.
Dd has mock exams the second week back after half term.
She's stressed but I'm sure she'll be fine.
Unfortunately it appears like the abscess is back 😪😭
But she's had no more cysts occur on her back or face and her acne has cleared up due to the antibiotics she's on long term. At the hospital tomorrow fingers crossed they'll fix her

So the abscess is back and dd is wiped out asleep upstairs as she's on high antibiotics but feels so ill

She's has had a long soak in the bath and got out and I noticed a white runny liquid running down her face its burst slightly...
shes back at the hospital tomorrow where they may drain it again.
