Just noticed we were running out of thread!

Ursula that's really sad. So close to home for you.

dd hates arithmetic too! she doubts herself and so does it over and over. No word on s1 yet.

I just got the lowdown on C2. Apparently part A of the geometric progression question was 'evil', yes.

DS thinks he might just have an A, but here's the thing. He's retaking it this year alongside A level Maths, as last year he got a C. He says the jump up from GCSE to AS in such a short time was too much, and he needed longer to 'bed in' his maths thinking and to work more independently.

So S1 again on June 7th, and then A levels ...

And farewell to the dreaded ASs.

PandaG · 24/05/2017 15:37

Ds thought C2 went reasonably well. He has chem on Friday (I got it wrong, it was physics not chemistry earlier in the week!). Then 5 more after half term...

starfleet · 24/05/2017 22:10

Ursula - that's so sad. I've posted on the Manchester explosion thread. I knew two parents who died in the attack.

DS thinks that the C2 paper went marginally better than C1. He said there was no crying by any of his cohort today so that's always a plus.

LineysRun · 24/05/2017 22:18

So sorry, Starfleet. It is all so grim and sad.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2017 22:30

Starfleet I'm really sorry.

Starfleet that is just rubbish. The whole thing is just awful. There were armed police when we came out of the theatre tonight.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 24/05/2017 23:42

starfleet I am so sorry. It is very sad.

HesMyLobster · 24/05/2017 23:42

Starfleet I'm so sorry, it's heartbreaking.

DD was happy after C2 - she finished with 15 minutes to spare so all the practise paid off.

English Lit this afternoon was less successful - apparently the question on 1984 was "ridiculous" Confused
I think she's just relieved it's over.

She has a break from exams now until after half term.

Good Luck to all with exams tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/05/2017 01:24

Good stuff about c2 lobster :)

a break for dd til after half term too. They have a full timetable over the next couple of days but at least the immediate pressure is off. s1 was 'fine, I think'.

Icouldbeknitting · 25/05/2017 06:38

Today is the last exam for us, going straight into A2 teaching after the holiday.

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/05/2017 07:10

Dd says c2 was "fine, but I messed up on the integration question, the answer was 16 and I got 16 1/3", so I'm assuming that she has done quite well, only focusing on the one question she did badly.

She's got a break till after half term, which she's going to spend practising S1 and M2 as they're the ones she finds hardest (S1 is not hard but dd hates it so hasn't done much work on it).

Trufflethewuffle · 25/05/2017 08:35

Just biology left for DS3 now, first paper this afternoon, the second after half term.

DS2 was happy with C2 and English Lit and now has a break till after half term when he has S1 and the two politics papers.

DS1 has S1 and his A2s after half term.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 25/05/2017 15:05

Starfleet I'm so sorry to hear that 😢 Just awful.

DD will have just literally finished the Biology paper. Nine papers down & 1 more to go after half term & we are done! Hurray 🙃 It's been a lot quieter on this thread compared to last year, so assuming a lot of DC are not taking AS route (or maybe just super chilled this year instead?!)

chocolateworshipper · 25/05/2017 16:42

Apologies to those with DCs doing exams, but I have to de-rail for the moment with a MEGA BRAG !!

DD got Distinction* (i.e. higher than a Distinction) for the first year of one of her BTEC courses!!!!!!!!

Yipppeeeeeeeeeeeee

eatingtomuch · 25/05/2017 16:49

Brag away chocolate that is an amazing achievement. Well done to your DC.

PandaG · 25/05/2017 17:11

Well done chocolate's DD!

Icouldbeknitting · 25/05/2017 17:29

If you can't tell us Chocolateworshipper then who can you tell? It's a fantastic result so brag on!

Ds is home, final exam done which generated a big split in opinion. DS thought it was "fine" (no surprises there then) with everyone else being in the doom and gloom camp. I am told that for a music technology exam there was a lot of music and not so much technology.

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/05/2017 17:44

Well done chocolate dd!!! That's superb! 🍾🍾🥂

TheSecondOfHerName · 25/05/2017 17:45

A bit envious of those whose children have finished exams already.

DS1 had his second exam today.

After last week's exam, I was a bit worried, but he said it went 'alright'

eatingtomuch · 25/05/2017 17:51

We still have Maths S1 and general studies after the half term (his whole year has to take general studies).
We have had a busy two weeks, maths C1 & 2, two papers for English lit, geography and economics. Will be pleased when they are all over.

chocolateworshipper · 25/05/2017 18:08

Thank you so much you guys. I'll be right here cheering for you all when the AS results come in xx

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/05/2017 18:09

Wow Chocolate, that's flipping amazing!!!

OP posts:
TheDrsDocMartens · 25/05/2017 18:13

Starfleet that's so sad

chocolate brag away well done her!

What was the 1984 question? I did it at A level, one of my favourite books despite studying it to death

TheSecondOfHerName · 25/05/2017 18:31

chocolate well done to your DD!
