Just noticed we were running out of thread!

s1 for dd too, her least favourite maths paper. She says she doesn't know how physics went.

Dd is doing c2 tomorrow. I've just suggested that she might want to do some revision and she said "but I'm really bored of c2 papers, so I'm going to play this game instead". I don't know whether to be pleased she's so relaxed about it, or annoyed that she might be a bit too relaxed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2017 20:53

Relaxed at this point is good :) easier to think if your brain is thinking in a nice calm ordered way.

Thankyou for the advice about not trying to rush Kitten, that makes sense and I've passed it on to DD.

She seems calmer this evening - did a couple of hours at dance class (I wasn't sure if she'd go - glad she did as it does seem to de-stress her) then came home to do her final C2 practise paper. She finished it on time so is much happier about tomorrow now.
We're just going over quotes for English Lit then I'm going to try to convince her to have an early night!

HesMyLobster · 23/05/2017 21:29

Thankyou all also for the advice on Tassomai, I'll have a good look into it over half term I think.

LineysRun · 23/05/2017 21:32

DS has C2 maths as well in the morning. Both our alarms set for 7am. Hoping trains are running on time. Last year during exams a train was cancelled and there was a deranged taxi ride involved. The stress ...

This is a retake for DS, and he's worked for it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2017 21:33

trains being cancelled is my utter nightmare!

DS now has the Uber app on his phone, kitten. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2017 21:44

Good idea!

DD has C2 tomorrow too. She is quite relaxed about it as she much prefers it to C1. She struggles with basic arithmetic due to dyslexia and feels much happier with a calculator.

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/05/2017 23:23

Dd isn't great with basic arithmetic either NoHaudin. She has never bothered to learn long multiplication or long division so still uses the stupid methods she learnt back in primary school with grid and chunking! She gets there in the end but it's such a ridiculous long winded way of doing something relatively simple. I'm very glad she now has her calculator for all the rest.

UrsulaPandress · 23/05/2017 23:31

Well dds biology teacher didn't bother to turn up to her lesson today, so she did a past paper and discovered a 4 mark question on a topic he hadn't covered.

I was toying with contacting school tomorrow to complain, but have decided to wait as he may possibly, just possibly, been absent because of the terror attack. A Y6 is in hospital with shrapnel injuries to an artery in her leg, and apparently the father of a prep school pupil was killed.

TheDrsDocMartens · 24/05/2017 04:36

That's sad Ursula

I lost you all Blush dd1 had German yesterday and has C2 today. Fx it's better than C1 which no one liked!

Her uni list is getting longer. Two open days booked and looking to combine York with Durham as it's the next day. She's adding in more all the time though as all the courses look interesting!

HesMyLobster · 24/05/2017 07:07

That is sad Ursula. Too close to home.

Good Luck to all with Maths, English Lit and any other exams today 🍀

LineysRun · 24/05/2017 08:24

Very sad, Ursula.

swingofthings · 24/05/2017 09:57

Another one doing C2 right now. She too was relaxed about it as it's her favourite part of the curriculum. She says that doing Further Maths (as did for GCSE) has helped a lot.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 24/05/2017 10:29

MsAwesomeDragon yes dd uses old methods and counts on her fingers.

Ursula how very sad.

TheDoc dd is doing York open day.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 24/05/2017 10:40

Ursula so awfully sad, words can't even convey what those people have gone through.

TheDrs our list is growing too & will need some serious pruning after last exam is done

TheDrsDocMartens · 24/05/2017 10:58

NoHaudin - 2nd?

LineysRun · 24/05/2017 11:28

DS has texted and says he thinks C2 went really well, which ought to mean that the paper was reasonably straightforward.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 24/05/2017 11:34

TheDrs oh no we are going on the 30th.

Trufflethewuffle · 24/05/2017 12:17

C2 for DS1 and DS2 today and DS2 has English Lit this afternoon.

DS3 just has Biology left, one tomorrow and the other after half term.

Hope today goes well for all DC.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 24/05/2017 12:19

Dd says C2 started off well but ended up with some 'evil' questions.

TheDrsDocMartens · 24/05/2017 12:23

Not heard anything on C2 yet.

swingofthings · 24/05/2017 12:41

I got 'it went quite well' which I expect translates to 'not as easy as expected but hopefully ok' !
