What time do you usually have your Sunday roast

Just that really!

I usually do mine around 18:00. I wonder if having it at lunch time would be better as then I have time to relax in the afternoon, not getting kids ready for bed etc ready for school the next day!

Im veggie too so just have loads of roast veg, yorkies, sometimes stuffing or apple sauce - everything except the meat. I love a veggie roast.

Whenever it’s ready! But not before 3pm - mostly aim for 5pm

I probably only do a full roast 3-4 times a year. Served up about 2pm .

Late breakfast 11ish then Sunday roast 3ish-4ish.

I love a roast dinner and will have one most Sundays, usually around 6.00pm with dessert for supper. It’s something the kids are guaranteed to eat and the easiest thing to make once you’ve got the hang of timings. Also left over meat for sandwiches or a weekday dinner so good value for money all things considered.

We normally eat about 8pm on Sunday.
We eat late every day anyway.
When its really hot in the summer we dont do a Sunday roast and might have a bbq, but generally we do, DC really complain if we suggest anything else!

I’m a vegetarian but i’ll cook meat for everyone else and I’ll have home made Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and 2 or 3 types of veg. Sometimes I’ll also add mash as it’s DS’s favourite.

We are vegetarian so will have something like nut roast or mushroom wellington or caramelised onion and goats cheese tarts with roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, roast parsnips, mashed parsnips, cauliflower, brocolli, carrots, peas

If we have one (fairly rare), it’ll be at about 7:30pm.

Most Sundays in Autumn and winter, we have ours around 6-30ish. DS plays football on. Sunday and kick off can be any time up to 2pm. We have meat, veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings and lots of gravy

A roast dinner is one of the easiest things to prepare and clear up after, why keep it for special occasions?

I love a Sunday roast and want one now! I love it even more when someone else cooks it . My ex SIL was a real cow to me when her brother and I separated but I do miss her amazing Sunday dinners .

For us it’s more the fact that there are loads of foods that we’d rather eat than a roast, so we wouldn’t really choose it as a regular meal. We do have a really good rib of beef at Christmas, and roast lamb at Easter for tradition’s sake, but otherwise we only really have a roast if one of the kids particularly fancies one.

I disagree i hate the washing up after a roast, lots of greasy pans. Several dont fit in the dishwasher, and I never feel the roast potato tray comes out clean from the dw anyway. I hate the clear up but we have a roast dinner most weeks anyway!

That's why I always cook them, DH thinks it's because I'm being generous, in reality it means he has to worry about washing up 😂

As early as possible as I like to let it settle and go for a long walk or an outing afterwards, particularly in the winter when it gets dark at 4pm. We love a roast.

Lots of pans? One (or at most two) for meat/roast potatoes, saucepan/steamer for veg and possibly a saucepan for gravy? And I used to cook regularly for extended family.

Yorkshire puddings? Cauliflower cheese? Braised red cabbage? Roast parsnips?
Maybe the problem is that when we do bother making a roast it’s too extravagant!

As PP said, cauliflower cheese, roasted root vegetables, stuffing, braised cabbage, proper gravy, pigs in blankets etc?

I would make all the above (apart from the piggies) so would go through lots of pans. I don’t mind though, I love cooking a roast.

Oh we do every other week or more. Love it. We usually have it at 3ish. Times for games and a film afterwards.

Absolutely. I blame restaurants in the seventies and eighties that started offering leftover cauliflower cheese (the vegetarian option on Saturday night) as an accompaniment to the Sunday roast. And lo, it became a tradition. It wasn’t a thing before that. You just boiled your cauliflower.

I don’t like boiled cauliflower but I love it covered in cheese! As a kid I thought I didn’t like vegetables, then I realised it was because I’d only had them boiled (usually over boiled!) and that there were far more interesting ways to prepare them. Equally my kids will turn their noses up at a normal boiled carrot, but love them roasted alongside parsnips.

Lunchtime or dinner time. Usually about 6pm as that way we can have a day out beforehand. If you have it at lunchtime it kind of takes up the whole day xx
